Chapter 336: Blackened Junior Sister (41)
"Purr…" Lan Jin let out a contented purr as he rubbed his white furry head against the palm of Yue Ran's hand.
"My Lord, the sun is very bright and hot at this noon today," Hai Bing Tu said. "Why do we not come out at night, instead, when it is nice and cool?"
The thing Hai Bing Tu dreaded the most was the heat. She would turn fussy when exposed to the hot sun. At this moment, the rabbit demon beast held a small fan in her hand to fan herself. Although there was no trace of ice crystals in the wind as she fanned herself as far as the eyes could see, the wind she fanned out was chilly, which indicated the use of ice spiritual power, albeit only in a small amount.
The gentle breeze provided a momentary relief from the oppressive heat, allowing Hai Bing Tu to breathe a little easier. With each soft flutter of the fan, she felt a surge of energy, as if the coolness was invigorating her spirit despite the sweltering (regular) environment.
Yue Ran: It was not even summer yet.
"Then, I guess we have to finish this quickly because you can't stand the heat any longer," Yue Ran said.
The smile Yue Ran had on her face looked a little unclear. Cryptic.
The young woman then handed Lan Jin to Hai Bing Tu, stood up, patted her clothes, and made her way to the gambling house.
"Let us go," Yue Ran announced.
Needless to say, Long Yuan will faithfully follow behind her. In response, Lan Jin gave an adorable yip, and Hai Bing Tu trailed behind, continuing to fan herself so that she would not be cooked by the heat.
...
The Diamond Dreams Casino, a gambling house, undoubtedly presents a much noisier and chaotic atmosphere than a teahouse. People from various walks of life are mixing together here. A few burly men with frowning eyes and pipes in their mouths are sitting at a table close to the door, akin to a group of door gods.
Several of these burly men, the employees of the store, came over right away to greet a group of people who arrived with unusual attire and dispositions, one that is not like an average person. These employees simply wanted to determine and speculate how much silver they had in their hands. Yue Ran knew that this gambling establishment was probably divided into multiple areas, and the size of the gambling site varied as well.
Yue Ran and her companions claimed that they had not brought much and only wanted to take a look around. There are many people like them. The store employees immediately assumed that this group of people were three wealthy young masters who had snuck away from their homes and came to this gambling house just to try and seek a new adventure. Anyway, as long as these wealthy young masters do not cause any trouble, the majority of store employees would not turn them away due to their wealth.
Yue Ran gave Long Yuan and Hai Bing Tu a look before she found a table and sat down at random. After that, she laid the silver in her hand on the table and placed a wager on a number. Her expression and demeanor were very appropriate for the occasion, and she genuinely appeared like a wealthy and wanton young man who enjoys gambling and has a strong desire for fun.
Unexpectedly, Yue Ran had a good start right from the beginning, and the little money she had had doubled in one go. The people close to her table came to see her chances of winning the next bet or envy her for the winnings she received.
On the other hand, those who have a great experience at betting readily recognized that this newcomer will have good luck that will only be sustained for a short time. It is all according to the rules and regulations of the gambling house. This is a ploy to trap those wealthy and gullible young masters to get addicted on gambling despite things not going their way in the end.
It was no doubt that Yue Ran was fully aware of this little rule. Be that as it may, now that she was acting in a play, she could only pretend to be overjoyed and happily put all the coins into her arms without a care in the world.
Although Yue Ran seemed to have had all her attention focused on the gambling table alone, her eyes had never left the willow tree outside the open doors.
Yue Ran could still clearly recall Ling Ling saying, "At this time in seven days, wait under the willow tree in front of Diamond Dreams Casino," to her a week ago.
And so Yue Ran waited. She wanted to see who would appear under the willow tree before walking over to meet the person (or persons) of the Dark Sky Pavilion. Unexpectedly, after waiting and playing her part as a "naive and rich young master" for so long, what Yue Ran waited for was not the people from the Dark Sky Pavilion but the invitation from the Diamond Dreams Casino.
A waiter at the gambling house had approached Yue Ran and requested for her to go upstairs. It was said that his superior wanted to meet her.
Yue Ran's face changed slightly, and she looked at Long Yuan and the others, motioning for them to come along. She changed her mind, though, after hearing the waiter clarify that she was the only person invited and not anyone else. Therefore, she sent a voice transmission instructing Long Yuan and the otters to remain where they were after giving them a meaningful look.
"Wait for my news here and be ready to storm in at any time," Yue Ran silently added in the voice transmission.
"Understood, master," Long Yuan answered back in reply.
Long Yuan and Hai Bing Tu got up one after another.
