Chapter 322: Blackened Junior Sister (27)
When the average person does cultivation, they pay attention to drawing in the spiritual power of heaven and earth. They will let this aura flow through the various acupuncture points and veins in the body, widening their spiritual veins and making the spiritual power in their body more pure. Finally, according to their own spiritual root quality and attributes, they will cultivate immortality by absorbing the spiritual elements with the help of cultivation exercises.
However, Yue Ran's own spiritual power was intensely exaggerated. This meant that her Sea of Qi was far more expansive and had superior qualities that would make others jealous of her, yet Yue Ran could not mobilize it. The reason for that is that the moment her spiritual power is deployed, it will create excruciating pain that will erode the soul and dig into the bones. At any rate, Yue Ran still had to force the spiritual power to circulate in her body and cultivate as many times as she could in the past two days to increase her strength.
Fortunately, the young woman was holding on to Lan Jin during her practice, so the severe pain she suffered was reduced a lot.
Yue Ran has gradually gotten used to this pain in the past few days of practice, almost like a masochist (keyword: almost).
Yue Ran most certainly did not derive any pleasure from pain. If nothing else, growing accustomed to the pain would ensure that the next time she cultivates immortality, she does not have to let Long Yuan support her to perform simple tasks like standing up and walking.
Yue Ran spent her time cultivating immortality the entire night without sleep. The next morning, when her practice was over, she set Lan Jin down and kicked away the ice and snow that obscured the opening of the cave. With her actions, the first beam of sunlight came into the cave unannounced at the crack of dawn. The morning sun gradually rose, illuminating the world with a blanket of pale gold, warm and full of vitality. The young woman was the only touch of red on the stark white earth, which looked particularly brilliant.
"Hmm…" Lan Jin let out a low, drowsy hum.
A chilling wind poured into the cave. The adorable little Lan Jin lazily shook his body, fine white fluffy fur fluttering with his movements against the wind, and stood up. A pair of black bean eyes blinked, and his snow-white fur trembled twice. He gave a cute little animal cry, as though asking for Yue Ran to wait for him, and then he ran to her side with his short legs in a daze.
"Ah, it is not snowing today," Hai Bing Tu said.
Hai Bing Tu followed Yue Ran out of the cave, lifted a hand in the air, and kept it motionless for a while. Hai Bing Tu appeared to be a little surprised when she sensed no snow falling onto the palm of her hand.
All throughout, from their first meeting to the present, the eyes of Hai Bing Tu were still closed and had never been opened. Yue Ran could not help but wonder just what color of eyes Hai Bing Tu had.
"Hmm." Yue Ran hummed in agreement. "This meant that we could get out of the snowy mountains soon."
Yue Ran casually carried Lan Jin, who lightly nudged his furry head on her leg, up from the ground and held him in her arms. Long Yuan and Hai Bing Tu walked a step behind her to her left and right, like escorts.
After a while, the track of the White Jade Snow Mountain appeared to have come to a stop. A hint of green could be glimpsed in the distance, and there were finally some living things around them.
The vibrant hues of the valley contrasted sharply with the stark whiteness of the land of snow, signaling a welcome change in scenery. As they approached, the sound of a babbling brook reached their ears, adding a soothing melody to the tranquil atmosphere.
The brook meandered gracefully through the lush greenery; its crystal-clear waters reflected the rays of sunlight like a thousand tiny diamonds. Birds flitted about, their cheerful songs filling the air, and the group felt much more relieved as they trekked into the new landscape.
Lan Jin was the most active and curious of the four. His eyes sparkled with curiosity and wonder as he kept scanning around, and his front paws swung from time to time, as if thrilled by the new sights and signs of life. However, he still did not want to get out of the arms of Yue Ran for fear that she would no longer want to hold him in the future.
Lan Jin: I am the cutest and the most obedient baby in the world! Although I would like to explore and run around, I still prefer to stay my mom's side the most! My mom is the best! Rawr (an adorable tiger roar)!
In the end, Yue Ran put him down, and the little demon beast was free to run around contentedly. He had a lot of fun chasing birds and butterflies and chewing on wild fruits. She did not forget to let Hai Bing Tu seal the unique features of the little demon beast that he had acquired from the legacy of the holy beast before letting him roam about. After all, the people of this world are not friendly toward demon beasts, especially the special ones.
"Long Yuan, begin to hunt some beasts," Yue Ran said.
Yue Ran lowered her head and grazed the spatial ring on her finger to check the items in it. The food that Yue Ran and Long Yuan had previously prepared was all gone because the number of people in the group suddenly increased by two, which was not something planned. There are only a few demon beast crystal cores, some leftover funds, and a number of beast furs left inside the spatial ring.
