Chapter 311: Blackened Junior Sister (16)
"He gave me to his neighbor to humiliate me! Such a despicable trash deserves nothing but death!" the demon beast roared.
After shouting out all of its pent-up sorrows like this, the group of humans surrounding the demon beast fell silent. A short while later, they snorted disdainfully and raised their swords as if they were going to righteously take the demon beast's life for their so-called justice. The demon beast, who was enraged and full of resentment at the group of hypocritical humans, drew forth all of its strength, and its spiritual power soared out, building up like a rising tsunami and then being unleashed—it was a tremendous final blow before its demise.
The team leader, who was holding the sword with the posture of attacking, had his heart torn out into pieces by the claw of the demon beast just before it took its last breath. The aftermath of its attack also sent the rest of the team flying to the ground.
The demon beast sobbed at her fate and at her unborn baby in her stomach. It soon died with regret and unwillingness as the last light was forcefully pulled out of its eyes.
Yue Ran had no intention of joining in the fun and destruction.
Seeing that the fight was pretty much over, the young woman took Long Yuan over when the group of humans, who were injured but still alive except a few, had left the site. Long Yuan could not help but take another look at the demon beast when walking past its corpse. His wide-open, dark purple pupils were filled with regret and remorse as he looked at its remains.
"Hmm?" Long Yuan stopped walking, and suddenly, a sound came out of his mouth.
Yue Ran raised a brow in question and asked, "What is the matter?"
The young woman halted in place, looked back at the sword spirit, and followed his line of sight to the corpse of the demon beast. The lifeless and breathless body unexpectedly moved. In an instant, a bloody head popped out of its body. A pair of cute, round eyes blinked twice before its figure crawled out a little more. The newly appeared creature wiped off the blood from its face with its little short claws, looked at its surroundings, fixing its eyes in one direction—specifically at Yue Ran—and then howled twice at her.
It appeared as though it had just crawled out of the stomach of the deceased demon beast mother.
"Master," Long Yuan said a little hesitantly. "He... he calls you his mother."
Long Yuan did not know whether he should translate this sentence or not, but he still did. However, Yue Ran did not react to his words at all. She turned around without the slightest bit of care and proceeded to venture further into the White Jade Snow Mountain.
"Let us keep walking," Yue Ran said.
Seeing such a bland reaction, Long Yuan said no more and followed after Yue Ran.
He, as a sword spirit, does not hold much compassion—at least not as much as an average person would—in the first place, and his master will always take priority.
At the same time, the little demon beast stumbled and attempted to crawl out of the flesh and blood completely. It screamed and swiftly crawled on all fours to chase after the back of the leaving Yue Ran. Its four short legs left red blood marks on the snow-white ground as it focused its eyes only on Yue Ran.
But how could the little demon beast, who was just born, catch up with Yue Ran's steps? It was left behind after less than the count of ten seconds.
Seeing that even the shadow of Yue Ran was about to disappear into some corner, the little demon beast became incredibly anxious. All it could do was whimper and sit there in place, wailing out loud in hopes of attracting Yue Ran's attention.
Yue Ran: Let us continue on our road.
Long Yuan: Yes, master.
Little demon beast: Mom, Mom! Do not leave me behind! Mom!
Although the little demon beast had only recently been born, its voice was deafening. Even Yue Ran, who was already far away, could hear it. The cries of the little demon beast startled the birds on the distant fir trees to fly high, and even the snow that blanketed the White Jade Snow Mountain trembled twice.
All of a sudden, the earth began to shake, and a giant fissure appeared that quickly extended from the base of the mountain to its summit. Yue Ran felt that even the air had turned stagnant for a moment.
Blaring alarms signaling imminent danger rang in her head. In the next second, the young woman leaped into Long Yuan's arms.
As expected, the earth-shattering snow, an avalanche, swept up their figures in an instant, seeming to drown them. Fortunately, Long Yuan fled fast enough. The sword spirit did not stop moving until he had soared to a height of at least 100 meters before he dared to look down.
On the other hand, Yue Ran, contentedly nestled in the sword spirit's embrace, was watching the quick changes in her surroundings with interest.
The thunderous sound seemed to cover the world, and the snow continued to pour.
Now, Yue Ran was beginning to hold some doubts in her heart.
Even when the demon beast previously got into a fierce fight with a group of humans, it did not result in such a disaster. Yet how could the howling of the little demon beast just after its birth cause the heavens to crumble and the earth to split?
Neither of the two—Yue Ran and Long Yuan—spoke. Nevertheless, they silently watched the unshakable, unstoppable nature in front of them with a slight wonder in their eyes.
At this time, Long Yuan unexpectedly blurted out the words, "Master, do you not think that the earth... has already crumbled for you?"
"Pfft… When did you learn to joke like this?"
