Chapter 132: Snow Mountain Encounter

Golden Summit Mountain is the official name on the map, but the locals have a less flattering name for it: Naitouzi Mountain.

When Chen Yan drove out of the mountain, it was almost dusk.

Driving while watching the sunset, Chen Yan... got lost.

This was really a bizarre thing. On his way here, Chen Yan also followed the map, but with Gu Qingyi guiding him, they left the mapped route several times.

On the way back...

He looked at the empty passenger seat and sighed.

He followed the map's directions twice and took the wrong road both times, always getting the prompt: You have deviated from the route, recalculating...

"Damn it," Chen Yan muttered, "Stupid company, will surely go bankrupt sooner or later!"

Luckily, he could still tell the direction, so Chen Yan simply turned off the map and drove based on direction... he would get out of this mountain area sooner or later, right?

As dusk deepened, Chen Yan finally encountered a truck with local plates.

"Big brother!" Chen Yan pulled his car to the roadside, waved vigorously, and with the friendliest smile shouted loudly twice.

Probably because he saw Chen Yan's car, an expensive G-Wagon — people driving such a car shouldn't be robbers.

Otherwise, in this mountainous area, when someone waves down cars, a typical driver's reaction is to hit the gas and speed off, definitely not stopping.

The truck stopped but didn't turn off the engine, the driver rolled down the window just a little bit and gruffly asked, "What?!"

"Big brother, I got lost, could you help me with directions?"

While speaking, Chen Yan reached into his pocket and surprisingly pulled out a pack of cigarettes, holding it up high as an offering.

The driver looked at Chen Yan, seeing this young man was clean and well-dressed, resembling a city student, probably not the fugitive bandit type, felt at ease.

Without taking Chen Yan's cigarettes, the driver shouted, "You took the wrong road, this way goes deeper into the mountains. You need to turn around, then..."

Following was a flurry of words, spoken fast and urgently, with Chen Yan barely understanding.

He felt a bit anxious — though driving the G-Wagon was cool, it guzzled gas like crazy.

He recently checked the fuel gauge, not much left, if he couldn't find the right road or took another wrong turn, he might just get stranded halfway.

"Is there a gas station nearby?" Chen Yan asked the most critical question.

"It's far," the driver shook his head, then added, "but there's a resort in the mountains, well-equipped hotels, you can refuel there."

Chen Yan's eyes lit up... that would work!

"Follow me then. I'm delivering goods to the resort," the driver waved at Chen Yan, "Follow me, it's about a ten-minute drive."

·

Chen Yan drove the G-Wagon, following the truck through winding paths until they arrived at a main road.

Seeing the road widen significantly, Chen Yan felt more at ease.

Turns out he veered off the main road while taking Gu Qingyi deep into the mountains.

Upon hitting the main road, he even saw signs, with the resort logo: XX Resort, X kilometers ahead.

Just like that.

`

The mountain resort was not small-scale and turned out to be a ski resort.

After driving another ten plus minutes along the main road, they reached the resort entrance.

A two-story-high sign stood on a metal frame beside the road, the wide entrance seemed impressive.

The truck parked by the roadside, the driver lowered the window to greet Chen Yan, waving, then pointed at a main building inside, "Drive there, that's the resort hotel!"

Chen Yan smiled, lowered his window, and tossed the pack of cigarettes through the truck's window gap.

"Thanks, big bro!"

Then he hit the gas, zooming in.

·

The resort's main building was about seven to eight stories tall, not high but very wide, occupying a large area.

Chen Yan drove to the hotel lobby entrance, where staff in cotton coats came out, directing Chen Yan to park in the lot.

Chen Yan got out and entered the lobby, immediately feeling the warmth.

Nice, the heating was ample.

It was early March, still cold in Heijiang State, and supposedly going to snow again soon.

Chen Yan stood in the hotel lobby, seeing tourists in ski suits carrying snowboards walk by.

He pondered, since he was here, it was already dark and he didn't plan to leave, so he headed to the front desk.

He booked a room, the price wasn't cheap, but with his current wealth, he didn't mind.

The front desk was very welcoming, gave a brief introduction, noticed Chen Yan had no luggage, just empty-handed, no ski gear, and kindly made some recommendations.

The hotel's rear directly led to the ski slopes, partnered with the hotel, offering ski gear for sale or rent, along with professional ski instructors...

Chen Yan expressed he got it, then accepted the room key, and headed upstairs.

·

After leaving Beijing, reaching Heijiang State, and escorting Gu Qingyi to the World Wall, he hadn't really rested on this journey. Plus, recovering from a recent illness, after two days of driving, he indeed felt tired.

He found his room, went in, and looked around.

It was quite spacious, clean and tidy, with amenities meeting a star hotel's standard.
