Chapter 118 "Night 2" (8000 words)
Chen Yan had always believed in one principle: what is called a "secret" can only be a secret when only one person knows about it! The moment more than one person knows, it is no longer a secret.
This belief was ingrained in his mind, irrespective of how close his relationship with Chu Keqing was, or whether Chu Keqing was trustworthy or not.
Only cards known to oneself can be called trump cards!

The hourglass had resumed counting down, and Chen Yan meditated for a while on the bed. The room was silent, and naturally, there were no noises in the corridor either.
After contemplating, he slowly walked to the door—although the puppet had said the room was safe during the day, Chen Yan was still curious: what dangers might lurk in the hallway?
With this in mind, he pressed his face against the peephole to observe carefully.
The moment his left eye pressed against the peephole… Chen Yan's hair stood on end!
Peeking through the other side of the peephole, Chen Yan saw...
An eyeball!
The brown pupil was pressed tightly against the door, motionless.
Two pairs of eyes stared at each other through the door!
Chen Yan's body instantly froze, his every hair stood on end!
However, soon after, the eye outside moved back, gradually revealing a figure standing in front of his door in the corridor.
The figure was dressed in black robes, shrouded in a cloud of black mist, with hair disheveled. Beneath the hair was a ghoulishly pale face, gaunt as if the flesh had half withered away—looking just like a corpse.
This thing stood right at Chen Yan's door, then started breathing in low, rasping gasps, its shoulders and chest heaving gently. Its expression seemed somewhat greedy, its gaze filled with malevolence.
This thing is watching me!
Chen Yan realized immediately!
Through the peephole, the two stared at each other. This creature clearly noticed Chen Yan standing behind the door!
The monster smiled sinisterly, a rigid and eerie smile on its face, then slowly raised a hand and extended a finger—the finger was as dry as a chicken claw, with long, black nails.
It brought the finger to its lips, making a "shush" gesture at Chen Yan.
Chen Yan furrowed his brows, glaring coldly at the thing outside the peephole.
Moments later, the creature turned and walked towards the door diagonally opposite—where the Warrior Armored Guest had moved after the room changes.
The zombie-like creature stood at the door, peered through the peephole for a while, then turned to glance back at Chen Yan, its smile even more sinister.
Slowly, it raised its hand and gently knocked twice on the Warrior Armored room's door.
Bam bam!
Just as Chen Yan smirked, his heart suddenly raced!
Because the zombie-like creature spoke.
"Respected guest, please open the door, there's a special task for the trial to deliver."
Chen Yan didn't understand the words, but what made him break into a cold sweat was the voice and tone—they were identical to the puppet announcing the realm's rules!
Even more terrifying, the creature's body shrouded in black mist became more dense, the mist enveloping its form, then slowly dispersing…
By the end, the creature's appearance completely changed, turning into an attendant puppet dressed in black!
Chen Yan instantly guessed what this monster intended to do!
·
What the hell!
It could do that?!
Chen Yan broke out in a cold sweat.

After a moment of silence, a voice came from inside the room—the Warrior Armored Guest asked, "What task?"
The zombie creature's voice was dull and mechanical: "The task of the second night. If the guest can complete it, there will be an extra gift from the Secret Realm Master."
Silence from inside the room, the guest seemed to hesitate.
The zombie monster was not in the least bit anxious, simply standing quietly at the door.
Inside, the Warrior Armored Guest probably observed for a while through the peephole, seeing the black-clad puppet standing outside...
"You, tell me about the task first."
"The task is randomly assigned to guests. If the guest declines, I will choose another."
The zombie-like creature answered mechanically, devoid of any emotion.
It then slowly stepped back, as if about to leave.
Finally, just as it was about to turn away, the Warrior Armored Guest inside called out, "Wait a moment!"
The zombie creature slowly turned back, standing quietly at the door.
The Warrior Armored Guest inside the room said in a deep voice: "Wait for a while."
Inside, the guest seemed to be preparing something; a full minute passed without the door opening.
The zombie creature showed no sign of impatience.
Finally, the door lock clicked open, the door opened a crack from the inside.
The zombie creature's face twisted into a sinister smile…
Then, as the door fully opened, the guest inside—dressed in bulky armor, holding a long knife—demanded in a deep voice: "What is the task..."
