Day 3
< Soul Absorption Success. Level Increased. 7 → 8 | +1 Stp >
In a vicious sweep, the bright red wolf cleaved through a sleek blue ferret, it hissed as its body sunk to the floor, the light in its eyes diffusing into the sky. Its thick body piled next to the rest of its fallen comrades, a battlefield once filled with twisting bodies suddenly filled with nothing but the stench of slowly pooling blood.
Behind the group of fallen ferrets, rested an army. Dozens of multicolored wolves, metal frogs, and walking plants huddled side by side, with a small girl sitting atop the largest wolf.

So far, all I've been doing is taming monsters and wandering around. If I find a weak monster, I kill it, and If I find a strong one, I'll add it to my army. I've been trying my best to grind my magic skills, but this magic system is weird. Instead of chanting or imagining magic, you have to like, physically make these structures in the air.
Floating around in the sky, carried by the wind, are these light blue strings. They cant normally be seen, only with [Mana Perception] do I notice them. Even then, I can barely see any of them, the only ones I can see are like an inch away from me, and they disappear before I even notice them!
Then, I have to somehow grab hold of the strings, which is probably what [Mana Touch] is for, and contort them into a bunch of unknown shapes! I still haven't succeeded in touching one of the strings, let alone making them in a pattern. And for the record, I also don't know what shapes I'm even supposed to make them into.
Well, that's a bit of a lie. My affinity skills give me one shape each, presumably some kind of basic spell. But they're useless if I can't even hold the mana strings!
Why is magic so hard? In all the anime I've watched, getting magic is like an instant win button. But, at least I have my pack. I pat the large wolf underneath me as it shambles forward, the rest of the monsters following close behind.
For food, I've been having my monsters test for poison before I eat anything. And I've been finding a whole lot of fresh water streams on my journey. I'm glad water is so easy to find here. Speaking of here, I'm in some kind of huge forest. But all of the trees are discolored.
< Cool down expired >
< Lore System ready for activation >
Ah, I almost forgot about that. Due to my specification; Leadership, I've gotten this weird sort of system perk. Every 24 hours, I get a random piece of information. It could be about the whole world, a quote from someone, or some piece of history. Another thing, I somehow can't seem to forget about the information it tells me. I mean, my memory is alright, but I can remember the lore pieces perfectly.
I still remember what the first one said. “ In this world there are six trees that oversee the circulation of life, all spread equally apart on each axis of the planet. There are also eight beings that protect the planet from destruction. These entities are known as world trees, and world guardians, respectively.”
The second one was actually magic related, which I'm glad for. Though, it wasn't very specific. “There are 4 groups of magical elements. The primal elements, the deviant elements, the outer elements, and the world elements. This comes to 13 elements, not including the many combinations, as well as draconian or divine magic. “
I mean, I can pretty easily guess fire, water, wind, and earth, but thirteen!? Jeez, that's a lot.
Suddenly, the red wolf sprints forward and lunges at this huge green snake covered in black spots. I get jostled around as it shakes the snake in fury before throwing it into a nearby boulder. Once I get over the shell shock, I order the strongest of my army to go deal with it.
Upon closer inspection, it seems I've stumbled upon a whole den of the snakes. I somehow didn't see it before, but they all have this bone armor around them, like their spine is outside their body's, with hundreds of rib cages surrounding their skin.
They kinda look like eels. Gross!
“Guys! Kill them faster!”
I sick the rest of my army on them, until the death notifications stop ringing in my ear.
< Soul Absorption Success. Level Increased. 8 → 9 | +1 Stp +1Skp >
Huh, I guess they were stronger than I thought.
This is what I was waiting for. I haven't spent any of my points yet, I don't want to waste them after all. I won't use any of my stat points on my physical body. Even though I'm kinda weak, I won't be doing any physical fighting. Even without my army I plan on using magic at the end of the day.
Hmm, what does the spirit stat even do?
< Spirit: Strengthen magic ability by enhancing ‘the four equivalents’ bolstering use efficiency, regeneration rate, and channeling speed. Also increases resistance to Domination, as well as strengthening the ability to dominate others. >
No matter how I read it, that seems unrelated to the magic I'm learning right now. There is no such thing as; magic regeneration, because I'm just manipulating the mana in the air. So this means.. There are two ways to do magic. The outside way, which is what I've been doing with the mana strings and such. And the inside way, which has something to do with; ‘the 4 equivalents’.
System, what are the four equivalents?
< Insufficient authority >
This again.. Any time I ask the system almost anything, I get that message. In fact, of all the many questions I've asked, maybe three of them have been answered, including the one about spirit.
So basically, I've either made a huge mistake when picking my skills, or, I made a mistake when picking my race because spirit, one of its main things, is useless!!! This sucks. Besides that is the whole ‘domination’ thing. I think it's relevant to my [soul exploit] skill. But honestly, I haven't had any hiccups with these bad boys yet, so i'll hold off on it.
As for my points, ill just dump them all into intellect. When I do so, my head seems to swell for a moment, before a clear wave of logic washes over me. If my brain was an engine, it would have just gotten a nitro boost. I feel great, fast, and clear.
Now, its time to hear my third lore tidbit, I wonder what it'll be this time?
< Loading…>
< Head west, towards the sun, and you shall find, another one. >
…?
The hell?
What is that supposed to mean? West is, what? Where the sun sets right?
I look up at the sky, the sun high above my head, only now starting to move towards the evening. I trace the trajectory with my finger, pulling my arm down until I point in one direction of the forest.
So I should go over there? For what? What does it mean by ‘another one’? What could another one be referring too? The only logical solution would be me, so will I find another me there? Or…
My face brightens as I come to a wonderful conclusion.
People! Another person! And maybe.. Another summoned person? Okay, that settles it, we’ll head west until I find people!
With a mental tug, I direct my pack towards the setting sun. Faintly, I feel the magical chains around the souls slacken, if only for a moment. I ignore it, too excited for the prospects of what's to come. Finally, my adventure begins!
