Project Mage

Chapter 10: The Escape Plan

The sudden surge of power within Roselle was beyond anything the Headmaster had anticipated. Roselle's energy reached 200%, and a blinding explosion of lightning erupted from her, engulfing the room in a maelstrom of crackling electricity and destructive force.

The walls and ceiling of the room trembled under the onslaught, and debris scattered in all directions. The sheer power of the explosion shattered windows and sent shockwaves echoing through the corridors. It was a chaotic and awe-inspiring display of raw magical energy.

The Headmaster, caught off guard by the unexpected explosion, was unable to react in time. The force of the blast knocked her off her feet, sending her crashing into a wall with a resounding thud.

Risebelle, who had been standing nearby, was also caught in the shockwave but managed to shield herself from the worst of the damage. She braced herself against the force of the explosion.

As the smoke and dust began to settle, the room was left in ruins. The walls were scorched, and the ceiling had partially collapsed. The Headmaster lay on the ground, disoriented but still conscious. The impact had shattered her magical aura, releasing Risebelle and Roselle from its hold.

Risebelle wasted no time, and with a swift and precise gesture, she summoned the power of her water magic. Dark clouds gathered above, casting a shadow over the room. The atmosphere grew heavy as the sound of thunder rumbled through the air.

With a powerful sweep of her arm, Risebelle unleashed her potent water attack, causing a torrential downpour to cascade from the ceiling. The rain came pouring down like a waterfall, drenching the room and everything within it.

But this was no ordinary rain; it was infused with Risebelle's magic, turning it into a deluge of acidic water. The corrosive liquid hissed and sizzled as it made contact with the scorched walls and debris, eating away at them with relentless efficiency.

The Headmaster, still recovering from the previous explosion, found herself caught in the acid rain. She cried out in pain as the corrosive liquid burned her skin and robes. She struggled to shield herself from the onslaught but was unable to mount a defense in her current state.

Risebelle and Roselle, protected by their control over water and lightning, remained unharmed by the acid rain as it surged and churned around them. Risebelle's calculated move had turned the room into a battleground, and the Headmaster was now at a severe disadvantage.

With the acid rain wreaking havoc in the room and the Headmaster struggling to defend herself, Risebelle and Roselle seized the opportunity to make their escape. Roselle summoned her cannon, ready to unleash an attack on the headmaster, but Risebelle grabbed her arm and shook her head.

"No time for that now," Risebelle urged urgently, barely audible over the torrential downpour. "We need to go while she's distracted!"

The sounds of the Headmaster's struggles and cries of frustration faded into the distance as they moved out and further away from the room. They needed to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the Headmaster before she regained her composure.

The Headmaster stormed out of the Academy of Magic, her silver hair still disheveled from the earlier explosion. Her eyes blazed while scanning the area, searching for any sign of the intruders who had eluded her grasp.

She began to speak with a full flare of her rage . "You! How Dare—"

But before she could finish her sentence, her foot hit the slick energy field created by Roselle. With a yelp, she lost her balance and began to slip and slide uncontrollably. Her arms flailed in the air as she tried to regain her footing, but it was a futile effort.

Risebelle and Roselle watched in disbelief as the Headmaster, the powerful and imposing figure, tumbled to the ground in a series of undignified slips and falls. She let out an exasperated growl as she finally came to a stop, sprawled out on the energy-covered ground.

Roselle couldn't help but let out a laugh at the absurd sight before her. Risebelle whispered to Roselle, "Let's go before she recovers!"

With that, they turned and continued their escape, leaving the Headmaster to grumble and fume on the slick energy field.

Roselle and Risebelle successfully made their escape from the Academy of Magic. They found a momentary rest in a hidden spot near the Lab. Risebelle couldn't help but smile at Roselle.

Risebelle turned to Roselle and spoke with a sense of accomplishment. "Well done, Roselle. The mission is complete, and we managed to shake them off. That technique I taught you really came in handy back there, didn't it?"

Roselle nodded, still catching her breath after that intense moment “Yes, Risebelle, I see now why you said I would need it. Thank you for training me and helping me survive that encounter."

Risebelle nodded solemnly. "You're welcome, Roselle. Remember, we can't afford to be merciful when it comes to humans. They're relentless in their pursuit of us, and they won't hesitate to use any means to capture and eliminate us. What happened back there should serve as a reminder of how dangerous they can be."

Roselle took in Risebelle's words. She frowned for a moment but then nodded her head. "I... I understand," Roselle replied. "I won't hesitate next time."

Risebelle softened her face. "Good. It's important that you—"

"But," Roselle interrupted, her eyes narrowing defiantly. "That doesn't mean I agree with all of this. Maybe there's another way, a better way. I don't want to become a mindless weapon, doing whatever Kintovar says without questioning it."

Risebelle's face went to a glare. "Roselle, you have to understand—"

"No, you understand," Roselle shot back, crossing her arms. "I get that humans are dangerous, but we can't just kill them all. There has to be more to this than just following orders blindly. I won't just accept that this is my life now! "

Risebelle turned around. "You're such an idiot, Roselle," she muttered under her breath. "If you keep thinking like that, you'll get yourself killed. Or worse."

Risebelle and Roselle continued on their journey, she turned to Roselle and asked, "Roselle, I've been thinking. Why do you think Kintovar didn't design your Cannon with a silencer? It would have been much more advantageous in situations like the one we just faced."

Roselle considered the question for a moment before responding, "I'm not sure, Risebelle. Maybe Dr.Kintovar had something in mind for my Cannon that required it to be loud? Like….for parties?”

Risebelle remained serious and processed Roselle's less-than-serious response with her eyes lowered. Then, she let out a sigh and shook her head. "You're such an idiot, Roselle. Parties? Really?"

Roselle grinned sheepishly. A faint blush came towards her cheeks and at the same time she raised a finger. "Well, you never know. Maybe Dr. Kintovar likes to throw really loud parties."

Risebelle closed her eyes and folded her arms with a sigh. "I suppose we may never fully understand Kintovar's intentions. We'll just have to make the best of the tools we have, whether they come with silencers or not."

Risebelle and Roselle reached the location where the lab had been cloaked away, the system recognized their presence and triggered the reappearance of the hidden facility. The lab materialized before them, its entrance beckoning them inside.

As they went in, Risebelle and Roselle found themselves face to face with Dr. Kintovar. Her immediate presence was unexpected.

Dr. Kintovar lowered her headphones from her ears, revealing a thoughtful gaze. She observed Risebelle and Roselle with a keen eye, taking in their appearance and the weariness that clung to them from their recent battle.

"Ah, my creations. I see you've had quite the encounter at the Academy of Magic. I've been monitoring your progress, and I must say, you handled the situation rather well, considering."

Risebelle nodded, acknowledging Dr. Kintovar's words. "It was a close call, but we managed to escape. However, we have more questions than ever, especially regarding our unique abilities and the humans' relentless pursuit of us."

Dr. Kintovar sighed. "I understand, but there are many things I can't reveal to you just yet. You must trust that I have your best interests in mind. The path ahead will not be easy, but you have a purpose, a mission that only you can fulfill."

"Dr. Kintovar," Risebelle acknowledged with a nod. "It was a challenging situation, but we managed to escape and complete our mission. We encountered a Pyromancer named Elysia and the Headmaster herself. They were aware of our presence and powers."

Roselle added, "We had to use a lot of energy to escape, and I used my new technique to create an explosion. It was... powerful."

Dr. Kintovar nodded in acknowledgment of their efforts. "I see. It appears you're adapting well to your abilities and learning to use them effectively. That's promising."

Risebelle, ever the one to seek answers, couldn't help but ask, " Kintovar, we completed the mission, but what about the plan to eliminate all the Humans? That’s still under way right?"

Dr. Kintovar's gaze shifted to the wall of monitors displaying various data and images. She paused for a moment before answering.

"You may want to be patient for that one. You see, your mission at the Academy of Magic was twofold. First, it was an opportunity to assess your capabilities and how well you can blend in among humans. Second, I needed you to gather information on the academy's activities, especially their efforts to harness the Mystic forest's magic. That info was vital that you obtained from them."

She turned her attention back to them. "The Mystic forest is a crucial source of magical power, and I have plans for its energy. Your role was to observe and report, but it seems circumstances forced you to take more direct action."

Risebelle and Roselle exchanged another glance, a sense of curiosity driving their desire for more information. Risebelle spoke, "What are your plans for the Mystic forest's magic, Kintovar?"

Dr. Kintovar's lips curled into a cryptic smile. "All in good time, my creations. For now, you've done well. Rest, recover, and prepare for the next phase of your journey. There are more secrets to uncover, and your path will become increasingly treacherous. Remember, you are my finest creations, and I have every confidence in your abilities."

Risebelle's confidence in her abilities was evident as she spoke. "You know, Kintovar, the only one I was truly concerned about was the Headmaster herself. Her power readings were off the charts, and she seemed capable of immobilizing us effortlessly. However, if the need arises, I believe I can take on even those with very high power readings."

Dr. Kintovar chuckled, a warm and somewhat amused look crossing her face. She reached out and gently patted Risebelle on the head, much like one would pat an affectionate pet.

"My, my, Risebelle," Dr. Kintovar said with a fond tone. "Your confidence is both admirable and well-founded. You are indeed a Powerful creation of mine, and your abilities continue to grow. But remember, power is not the only factor at play in this world. There are many variables to consider. Strategy and adaptability is key."

Dr. Kintovar's gaze turned contemplative as she spoke further.

"I've been monitoring the situation closely, and I believe it won't be long until my third creation is activated. Once her training is complete, I plan to accompany all of you on a mission to eliminate the Academy of Magic. I have a personal grudge with the Headmaster, and I want to see her defeated with my own eyes."

Roselle couldn't help but wonder what had caused Dr. Kintovar to be so sure about the timing of her third creation's activation. "Dr. Kintovar, may I ask how you can be so certain about the timing? What makes you believe it's close?"

Dr. Kintovar's smile held a hint of mystery as she replied, "Ah, Roselle, that's a secret for now. Just know that I have my ways of gathering information, and I've received certain... ‘Signals’. Trust me, it won't be long now."

Roselle and Risebelle made their way to the rejuvenation tanks on the second floor of Dr. Kintovar's lab, they each had a moment of respite to recharge and reflect on the events of the day.

However, as Roselle glanced over at the empty third tank, a curious thought crossed her mind. She turned to Risebelle, who was about to enter her own tank, and asked, "Risebelle, what do you think our next sister will be like?"

Risebelle paused, her hand hovering over the tank's controls. She considered the question for a moment before giving a straightforward answer with her eyes lowered.

"Annoying."

Roselle blinked in surprise at Risebelle's response. "Annoying? Why do you say that?"

Risebelle sighed and shook her head.

"Well, look at it this way. You and I, we think things through, and we get the job done efficiently enough, although you still have your problems,.. 'alot of them'. But if our third sister is anything like the way humans can be, she might be impulsive, talkative, or overly cheerful. All of those things can get annoying pretty fast.

"I….see what you mean," Roselle replied with a nervous nod ,"If our third sister is different from us in terms of personality, it might take some getting used to. But, maybe that's not necessarily a bad thing…right?”

With that said, Roselle and Risebelle entered their respective rejuvenation tanks, ready to rest and recharge for whatever challenges awaited them in the days to come.

As the lab's automated systems hummed softly, monitoring the vital signs of the slumbering creations, a subtle change occurred. In the heart of the lab, the young girl with hair blending shades of blue and pink slowly opened her eyes. Her gaze, filled with curiosity and wonder, surveyed the world around her.
