CHAPTER 357 - {Fucking monster...}
"Hmm, hmmm~, hmm~~, hmm..."
In the throne room of the demon empire, there were only three entities having a peaceful time with each other.
"Hm! Hmmm~~, hm~..."
A resonant voice could be heard, causing the air to blow along with it, flowing gracefully as if dancing at the hum of the guy with ink-black hair, sitting on the biggest throne in the throne room.
He had a divine contour, enough to pull any and every woman in.
His eyes were closed, and his head rested on the chest of an enchanting woman with pink hair who was sitting on the armrest of his throne.
The woman, just like the man, had her eyes closed as she supported her body on the guy's, enjoying the tune that he randomly started playing.
Then there was a cute-looking chibi wolf resting on the guy's lap, immersed in the tune that the guy was humming.
The wolf had never had any actual interest in songs, as she would rather spend her time with her master, but what if it was her master humming songs for her?
Well, that was something she never thought would happen, as she never heard her master sing.
But today, as she lay on his lap, listening to the calm and soothing hums, she knew that these types of moments, where she could lay on her master's lap, have him patting her head, and hear him sing, were going to be her favorite moments.
It was, of course, Alex, Luna, and Noctura.
Right now, after plunging two kingdoms of the demon empire into war, they were waiting for the news about the situation of the ongoing war to be delivered to them.
*Step**Step*
Soon, a portal appeared in front of them, and the sound of steps resounded throughout the area, causing Alex's humming to stop.
[It was good, you know...]
Sophia, who, just like Luna and Noctura, was lost in Alex's hums, muttered begrudgingly.
She was the one who had asked Alex to hum a tune for her, but Alex was like: 'No, I'm not a good singer.'
The reality, however, was in no way the same.
'Haha, I really didn't know I was that good.'
Alex, who could feel her emotions, just chuckled awkwardly; he really didn't know, after all.
It was his first try.
{Fucking monster...}
She muttered as she knew that Alex was speaking the truth; he wasn't aware of it, but what could she do? It was her fault for falling for a monster like him.
A monstrous genius who wasn't even aware of how many talents he had.
Alex's closed eyes finally quivered, as if reluctant to open up, not wanting to move away from this relaxing position, but they did open in the end, revealing a pair of haunting red eyes of Alex that reflected Azaroth, who was now bowing his head down.
"I greet the demon lord."
Azaroth let out with respect in his voice, but Alex, who saw this, just sighed helplessly.
"Azaroth, how many times do I have to tell you? You don't need to bow to me every single time, especially when there's no one around to care. It's not like anyone dares to say anything against you."
Alex spoke with a 'Really, bruh?' type of look.
As he said, Azaroth was the demon ancestor, someone just a rank below Alex, so even if he didn't greet him every time and just passed a nod of respect, no one would open their mouth against him.
"As you wish, my lord."
Azaroth, hearing Alex's words, just smiled a bit, accepting his words, but that only caused Alex to sigh harder.
"Sigh…"
With an audible sigh, Alex just shook his head.
"That's what you said last time, as well."
Alex wanted to know why Azaroth was so much in his support, and why he never considered betraying him and taking the demon lord's throne for himself.
Alex knew that no medicine could make someone so respectful toward you in just around 2 weeks.
So, what was the reason?
To have an answer to that question, Alex knew that he would have to get closer to Azaroth, not as a demon lord but as a friend.
"..."
Silence descended in the hall as Azaroth just lowered his head in shame.
He had said the same thing before, sure, but he was trying his best not to do it every time; it was just stored in his muscle memory that whenever you see the demon lord, greet them.
He couldn't do anything about it now, could he?
After a while, Alex was the one who spoke again.
"So? How's the situation on their side?"
Alex asked with a brow raised, changing the topic, not wanting to embarrass Azaroth more than he had already done.
Azaroth, understanding Alex's intentions, nodded his head gratefully before he replied to Alex's question.
"The war has started, my lord."
He replied to Alex's question with a serious look on his face, but as he saw the carefree look on Alex's face, he raised a brow.
"How many casualties by now?"
Alex questioned his eyes, slowly taking on a serious look.
Alex already knew about the war that was going to happen; he was the reason for it in the first place, but the low-leveled demons were innocent, and he didn't want the blood of his innocent citizens on his hands, even though he had never intended to kill them.
Only because he was the emperor who ruled over them, not because he had suddenly turned into a saint who would cry for every innocent life lost in front of him.
"There are not many casualties as the Fyzenar kingdom proposed for a ten-v-ten battle where each kingdom will send their top 10 warriors to fight, pushing the number of casualties to 20 at maximum."
Azaroth replied to Alex's question, causing Alex to wear a pondering look on his face before he nodded his head.
"Makes sense for the kingdom with smaller forces..."
Alex muttered as he started to twist Noctura's fur between his fingers, pondering about something.
He didn't even ask why the Noxviel kingdom agreed to that kind of request when they were clearly at an advantage.
It was probably because they were blinded by rage and wanted revenge for their son no matter what.
"Is Lokiath Fyzenar one of the ten warriors from the Fyzenar kingdom?"
Alex questioned, his mind playing different scenarios.
"Yes, my lord."
Azaroth replied with a nod, causing Alex to shake his head at how predictable the plot was.
"Well, I guess it's for the better; this way the casualties would not be en masse and only a few."
Alex commented with a thoughtful look as he relaxed back on the throne.
"..."
After that, a pregnant silence enveloped the hall.
Only the sounds of breaths and Alex's finger scratching Noctura's fur were heard until Alex sighed.
"Sigh...
Go on, Azaroth, ask away."
Alex spoke as he leaned forward, looking into Azaroth's eyes, who bowed his head again, thanking Alex for giving him permission.
"Thank you, my lord."
Alex could tell that Azaroth had many questions, and although he wasn't going to answer all of them, he could still answer the question that he had right now.
Alex could already guess what kind of question it would be.
"Why do you want that boy to die, my lord?"
Azaroth questioned Alex as he lifted his head back up.
Azaroth knew that Alex was the one who incited this war; it was he, the one proficient with space elements, who was asked to deliver the recording device to the Noxviel king's room by Alex, after all.
The demon ancestor also knew what the boy had done; he had assassinated another kingdom's crown prince, a crime worthy of death if we looked from the perspective of the demons in the said kingdom, but for others?
It was a pretty normal thing for others.
This was the demon empire; after all, hundreds and thousands of demons died every day due to unknown causes.
The crown prince of the kingdom of Noxviel would've just been another addition to those dead demons.
But Alex didn't let it be and recorded the whole thing as if he already knew it was going to happen, and although the demon ancestor was elated to have such a demon lord who could predict the flow of events, he still wanted to know why.
Why was Alex going so far?
Why was he so fixated on killing Lokiath?
Alex, who heard the question, shook his head, as this was one of the questions that he thought Azaroth might ask before his eyes turned sharp.
"You see, Azaroth, I have little patience when someone lays their eyes on what belongs to me... and even less when they dare to covet my people."
The air around Alex trembled as his eyes shone with an ominous light, causing even Azaroth, who was much stronger than Alex, to feel chills down his spine.
"And that boy you mention, Lokiath Fyzenar, had the audacity to harbor thoughts about one of my own... one of my women."
By the end of his words, Alex was almost growling.
He didn't even notice that he had unknowingly called Luna his woman, causing the lady to widen her eyes, only to shake her head the next second and pat Alex's back, trying to calm him down, and it worked like magic.
Alex, who realized that he got worked up for no reason, took a deep breath.
*Inahle**Exhale*
His eyes then stared back at Azaroth, who now had a look of realization on his face.
"I see. Thank you for letting me know, my lord."
Azaroth nodded his head, thanking Alex for answering his question, as today he got to know one more thing about Alex's personality.
After that, they chatted for a while about the situation of the war, and how it could affect the demon empire before Azaroth excused himself, leaving the three of them alone again.
Alex, however, stared at the quest related to Lokiath and muttered inwardly.
'Soon, I will have a new lab rat...'
