Primordial Lust System

Chapter 19: Innate skill

"More goblins? Great!" Aurelian snickered, his figure streaking toward the five figures ahead. As he approached, three spectral blades instantly formed behind him before shooting off toward the targets.

Caught by surprise, the goblins shifted their attention to the human before them. But before they could even charge, sickening sounds echoed as the blades tore into flesh, slicing three beasts to death in one strike.

Smirking at their confusion, he flicked his wrist. The blades that had pierced the first group suddenly changed trajectory, impaling the remaining two and ending their miserable lives.

"It worked." He grinned. Having fully analyzed his talent, he was starting to get a knack for it. He could conjure phantom blades, but they disappeared immediately after hitting their targets, forcing him to summon more. With his recent intelligence upgrade, coupled with the little training and experimenting he'd done along the way, he had discovered something new.

He was pleasantly surprised to find that he could prolong the duration of the blades even after they hit their targets. More surprising still was his ability to control them midair.

The connection was weak, but who was to say it wouldn't have mind-blowing consequences once he leveled up a bit?

Speaking of leveling, he shifted his attention to the corpses strewn below. Their figures dissipated into wisps of energy that shot toward him, followed by the familiar sound of notifications:

<Ding! The host has slain a level 1 Goblin Demon! 10 dungeon points awarded!>

<Ding! The host has slain a level 1 Goblin Demon! 10 dungeon points awarded!>

Level 1: (80/100 Dungeon points)

Streams of energy latched onto his body, filling him with vigor. He felt lighter, more energetic.

He was close to leveling up, another reason to quicken his pace.

He had long since noticed, much to his disappointment, that the beasts hadn't dropped any loot. Sprinting forward, his brows furrowed as he noticed something odd.

The walls shimmered with an otherworldly light. A closer look revealed faint markings of runes.

"Deeper mana density?" he whispered, the torchlight illuminating his path forward.

His words triggered memories. Markings like these signaled higher mana concentrations, territory where stronger beasts dwelled.

How powerful? He couldn't be sure. Surely the power gap wouldn't leap from level one to level ten… right? What were the odds?

Discarding the thought, he pressed onward, this time letting three bluish spectral blades hover before him.

Turns out keeping them floating at his side cost little to no energy. He wasn't sure about other people's talents, but he felt almost no fatigue from either of his. That realization had earned him a palm to the back of the head.

Which only sparked another question: What else was he ignoring that could tip the scales in upcoming battles? Nothing came to mind, so he put the thought to rest, just as another group of goblins, about fifty meters ahead, entered his line of sight.

He didn't attack immediately. Analyzing them, they looked identical to the ones he'd already slain, no obvious differences at all.

What baffled him, though, was their lack of aggression. Despite standing in the open, the goblins didn't move, as if waiting for a challenge. From what he'd gathered, they weren't intelligent. Studying them further, he concluded they were little more than insentient husks conjured by the dungeon.

The fact that their corpses dissolved into energy after death only reinforced that theory. At this point, he wouldn't even be surprised if they respawned. Otherwise, the dungeon's entire purpose would be meaningless once its beasts were wiped out.

"Twenty meters, huh?" he muttered as the goblins finally noticed his presence. As expected, they charged, clubs swinging.

Low guttural growls escaped their tiny frames. With a flick of his fingers, the blades behind him shimmered faintly before shooting forward, locked onto their targets. Just like before, the blades impaled three goblin skulls—headshots, clean and final.

Only this time, he felt resistance. Their thick, green skin offered a moment of protection, though not enough to save them.

With miserable squeals and blood spurting from their skulls, the goblins collapsed.

Before he could admire his handiwork, warm streams of energy surged through him, washing his body in a faint golden sheen.

He could feel odd changes stirring within him, but before he could grasp them, the sensation ended.

More notifications blinked before his eyes:

<Ding! The host has slain a level 1 Goblin Demon! 10 dungeon points awarded!>

Level 2: (10/200 Dungeon points)

Unallocated attributes: 5

A grin stretched across his face as he scanned his Supreme Record. His body hadn't grown stronger per se, but… shifted more like reshaped to house more power.

Power he intended to claim. Without hesitation, he poured all his attributes into intelligence, the number climbing to 18.

A faint pain throbbed in his head, but as it faded, the clarity sharpened even further. For the briefest moment, his obsidian eyes glinted with a blue sheen before it vanished.

Catching his breath, he snapped his fingers, and four ethereal blades coalesced before him.

They looked denser, more real. He suspected they solidified with every upgrade.

His smile widened as something caught his eye, something he had missed while lost in thought.

A small mystical iron box hovered in the air where the goblins' corpses had been before dissolving.

"Loot?" he muttered, his tone brimming with anticipation. He stepped forward with renewed vigor.

Just as his hand reached for it, his Supreme Record stirred. Another notification appeared:

[Ding! The @£#&'* of Lust has progressed the S-rank talent Phantom Blades and awakened the first innate skill!]
