Chapter 14: Phantom blades
[Ding! Phantom Blade talent has been replicated! With a single thought, conjure illusory blades that anchor themselves to reality to slice your foes!]
"Hahahaha! It worked." Aurelian grinned, momentarily distracted as he shot loads of cum deep inside Areola's pussy.
The notification that blinked in front of him was as real as ever; more real was the surging energy that suddenly drifted from the beauty before him, then latched onto him.
Memories followed soon after. The mechanics, the core secrets, all unraveling deep within him.
And as they did, his lower member slipped out of the girl's pussy. His eyes closed soon after to get a better grasp of it all. Seconds bled into minutes as Areola turned to him, watching his every motion, her eyes widening.
With a flick of her fingers, radiant energy swept across her, cloaking her once more. A pristine white robe, identical to the one he had torn away, settled over her form.
She now stood again as the sword saintess she was. Yet as she observed him, curiosity flaring into shock, a set of words, ones she had thought only she would ever speak, left his lips.
"Phantom Blades... activate!"
The air rippled like water, pulsing with a mesmerizing charm. Two bluish spectral blades coalesced before him, gleaming with ethereal sharpness.
[Talent grade has been ranked: Awakened Phantom Blade is S rank]
***
"How? You were an S rank talent all this time? But the F rank aura I felt radiating from you? It doesn't make sense, unless you're a... dual awakened!"
Areola stammered, struggling to piece together the impossible.
Even stranger, his talent mirrored her own. Not impossible, but rare enough to stagger belief.
But not rare enough to trigger the thought he had just copied hers.
Ha! Aurelian smirked, watching her spiral deeper into thought. No answer needed; she was giving herself plenty already.
"So when you flared with resplendent light, it was your S rank talent manifesting... the conflict must have been tearing you apart. That's the only explanation," she whispered, silver eyes glimmering as they turned back to him.
Her expression shifted, a mix of charm and outrage. "So what was it about you ravishing me, before showing me all this? Y-you tricked me?!"
Aurelian gasped, half-exasperated. Crisis averted. He had been scrambling for an excuse, but this one fit perfectly.
As for coming clean about his system, argh, no. Supreme Records? Yeah, no. Hard pass!
It wouldn't exactly be very smart. It was best he kept the secret to himself for now. He couldn't be too sure.
A quick glance at his Records brought a wider grin. His talent tab had grown by one, Phantom Blades now resting proudly among them. This wasn't a dream, it was real!
"Aurelian?" Areola breathed, voice regaining clarity. "Where are we?"
The weight of recent events pressed back on her mind. Not as terrible as she feared, but still, her promise lingered. A head had to roll.
"Maelstrom Kingdom?" Aurelian answered, brows furrowed as he remembered she had fallen from the skies. Did she not know? Her next question confirmed it.
"Which kingdom and empire?" she pressed, her breath quickening. There were too many across the world. Even as crown princess of the Crescent Empire, she couldn't hope to know them all.
"Hmmmm," Aurelian hummed in thought. The moment he had transmigrated, he could have sworn that old bastard said something about the Crescent Empire and Dark Star Kingdom.
The moment the words slipped out of his mouth, he saw her face immediately brighten, then darken visibly.
"No... no... no! The edge of the Empire? I must go, if I am to make it for the inauguration ceremony to solidify my status..." Areola rasped, her eyes glinting with a cold light.
Suppressing the aura that was raging to burst out of her, she turned to Aurelian, her eyes softening.
"I would have killed you after helping me suppress my aphrodisiac curse." She paused, seeing the smirk still clinging to Aurelian's face. Wasn't this the part where he was supposed to freeze in fear? Instead, he looked at her as if she were joking. Nonetheless, she continued:
"But I changed my mind. With an S rank talent and the ego that comes with it, you'll be sure to meet your fate very soon."
Her voice faltered for a bit. Glancing down, she cleared her throat before reverting her attention to him, her silvery eyes locking onto his.
"If by any chance you survive, and wish to meet with me later, find me at the capital of the Crescent Empire."
"Wait, you're leaving?" His tone carried a note of sadness. He couldn't deny he felt a connection. As for her talk of killing him? He pushed it aside, assuming it was just her way of masking her humiliation at being dominated by an 'F rank.'
"How about one last time at it before you leave?" he asked teasingly.
Smirking at how her face flushed crimson. He watched as silver light flared around her before she launched into the sky, streaking across the heavens. Her voice lingered behind like an echoing vow:
"Not this time, but if you make it to the Crescent Empire, I'll reconsider it. I'll be waiting for you..."
"Areola? Huh?" Aurelian clicked his tongue. He had known she was a powerhouse of some sort, but flying? That had exceeded his calculations.
If the Draegor records were true, only A ranks could soar freely in the skies.
"Ooh, my, my... I just fucked an A rank being?" He snickered. "Would you look at that."
His grin sharpened. "I'll be coming for you, Areola." She was already his in his heart. No one else could claim her. To ensure that, he would need power.
Power he now had. With an S rank talent, the world had changed.
A new dawn, both literal and metaphorically. Sparse rays of sunlight illuminated the secluded ground he once stood on.
His eyes drifted to the robe he had torn in all the frenzy, but good thing its fabric was laced with self-repairing properties. Now lying as new as before.
Clothing himself once more, he lifted his gaze to the distant horizon. It was time to return to the Draegor family, only this time, not as the F rank disgrace he had been cast off as, but as a man bearing limitless potential.
