Primordial Conquest

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: The End Part 1

Chapter 70: The end part 1

Shallow, ragged breaths slowly escaped Arora's lips as she hovered above the vast crater where the village of Hai had once stood. Her body trembled visibly as every single one of her strained muscles ached.

Her snow-white hair whipped about violently as wind surged into the enormous void around her in an attempt to fill it with air.

After several moments, a wide smile slowly spread across her pale features.

She had won.

She had finally defeated her enemy.

She was finally free.

During the last few moments before Norman had struck her down, she had exploited his hesitation about killing her to attempt one last desperate gambit.

Despite her instincts screaming against it, she had understood it was her only remaining option.

She had turned her destructive power inwards.

That action had accelerated the process of her soul's annihilation in exchange for more overwhelming power.

She had been in indescribable agony.

But she had endured it. She had controlled her pain, knowing it was the only way to win.

After the power had reached its peak, she had channeled every drop of energy remaining within her battered body and launched it straight at the commander.

Her gamble had paid off.

But that did not change the fact that she was now suffering immensely.

Before, she could only feel the strain her soul was under slightly. Like a painful needle stabbing into her chest ever once in awhile.

But now, she could feel it quite well.

Every part of her being ached terribly.

She wobbled in the air for a moment, before her flight suddenly halted, sending her crashing to the ground with a loud Thud.

She clutched herself tightly for several moments, as she felt that pieces of her very existence had been burnt away, possibly forever.

She remembered why, as well.

'Elijah!' She thought in rage.

It appeared that whatever they had done to her soul in that lab of theirs had never fully healed. The primordial had simply patched it up somewhat, most likely by sealing her memories.

Which meant the entity had lied to her from the very beginning.

She gritted her teeth in anger as she thought of the primordial.

All it had ever done was deceive her with false promises.

It had said it would grant her revenge against Elijah, Raymond, the orphanage, everyone. And yet it had given her none of that.

Instead, it had simply reincarnated a naive version of her into a new world after erasing her memories.

Her fists clenched as she looked up at the dark and cloudy sky in hatred.

As if responding to her gaze, the sky broke as the rain began pouring relentlessly.

""You damned Primordial!" she screamed to the heavens, her voice echoing across the crater. "Come down here and give me what you promised me!"

Her chest rose and fell in anguish and pain.

"Damn it!"

After several minutes, She flew up again, heading out of the crater with unsteady movements.

Her mind never once bothered to think about the countless people she had slaughtered in this space, in an attempt to kill the commander.

It seemed those emotions had been erased from her, as well.

Just as she left the hole, she heard a loud scream echo around her through the rain. She turned to the source and noticed a lone figure kneeling by the edge of the village wide crater, a hares breath away from where the destruction stopped.

Her brows furrowed slightly as she watched the figure cry out in agony, his tears mixing with the rain drops that drenched his face.

Moments later, she decided to fly over to him as she landed a few feet away from the boy's kneeling form. She studied him with a curious expression.

He was a young boy about her age with crimson red hair and emerald eyes that she seemed to find herself lost in, for some strange reason.

His blood flowed profusely from deep carvings that lined his arms, staining his torn clothing and pooling in the dirt beneath him.

Arora's brows furrowed slightly when she saw his injuries. She wasn't sure why, but it hurt her already aching heart to see him this way.

The boy's tearful gaze slowly turned to her, as she saw a hint of recognition appear in his eyes.

"A...rora?" The boy muttered slowly as he glanced up at her.

His tone was questioning, as if he was unsure about if he was right or not.

Arora frowned at that. She studied his face more carefully, wondering why this stranger would know her name.

She glanced around the devastation surrounding them as she surmised that he was probably the only survivor from her earlier attack.

'Quite fortunate,' she thought in amusement. 'Though not for much longer.'

She couldn't let the Renegades, an organisation that hunted Reincarnators like her, know what had happened here. Or at least, what she looked like, since she was sure a few visitors had already escaped the village before its destruction.

Naturally, her human form would still be identified immediately. But the same couldn't be said for when she wore the appearance changing bracelet she had gotten at some point.

This boy's fate had been sealed the moment she had flown over to him.

She slowly raised her finger, gathering what little destructive energy she could still summon.

The boy's eyebrows furrowed as he watched her.

"Arora.... what are you doing" He asked, his tone more certain than it had been before.

Arora's eyes widened slightly as she heard her name escape his lips again.

Her hand trembled visibly as she tried her best to take the shot.

But for some reason, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

Suddenly, images began flashing through her mind in rapid succession — events that felt both foreign and familiar at the same time.

She remembered her first awkward meeting with the boy. When he had decided to take care of her as he led her to his home. When he had taken her exploring. when he had taught her how to use her powers. And when he had given her the bracelet she was planning to use to disguise herself.

She staggered backwards as she clutched her head in more agony than she had already been feeling.

She slowly glanced back at the boy.

"A-arbus" she muttered as recognition slowly dawned on her.

Her expression brightened in joy as everything gradually came flooding back to her.

"Arbus!"

She launched herself at his kneeling form, wrapping him in a warm and tight embrace.

"I'm so glad I found you! I was so scared you were gone forever!"

"I'm so sorry I couldn't save you earlier! I tried everything, I fought so hard to reach you in time. But everything went wrong, and there were so many obstacles!"

She rambled on in relief and delight as she hugged him even tighter. Arbus remained motionless in her arms, staring blankly into the distance with an unreadable expression.

"Arora" He mumbled suddenly.

"Did you... do all this?" He asked slowly, his voice barely audible over the steady downpour.

Her obsidian eyes lit up with pride as she pulled back from their embrace and met his gaze.

""Yes, I did it! Isn't it incredible? You don't have to worry about Dorian, Beck, or Grug ever again! I made sure they can never hurt you, or anyone else, ever again!"

"I also fought an army of powerful warriors and this really powerful Renegade commander who kept trying to kill me. It was terrifying at first, but I managed to defeat all of them! Even the commander died when I used everything I had left in one final attack. You saw that last explosion, right? That was me winning!"

She stood and spread her arms wide, gesturing toward the crater that had swallowed the entire village.

"Now we can finally be left alone! No more bullies, no more threats, no more people trying to separate us!"

"We can travel the galaxy together like we always talked about! We can explore new worlds and see amazing things and never have to worry about anyone hurting us again!"

"Isn't that just wonderful!?"

Heavy rain filled the silence that stretched between the two friends for several moments as Arbus stared at her in disbelief.

"Arora... What is wrong with you?"

"...Why are you acting like this?"

Arora frowned slightly as she heard Arbus's questions.

She remained silent for several moments as She tilted her head in confusion.

"What are you talking about A√bu§? Nothing's wrong with me. I'm perfectly fine, see?" She said as she floated up slightly and whirled around in the air, raindrops swirling around her spinning form.

"I feel stronger than I've ever been before! Well not right now, but I will be when I rest for ba while"

She landed softly as her smile returned.

"Why are you being so strange? I don't like it when you tease me like this"

Arbus remained silent as he watched her smiling figure through the downpour. He stood up slowly as his body trembled visibly.

Then, he took a few steps back from her as he gazed at her with a hate filled expression.

His tears fell down his face, almost indistinguishable from the raindrops due to their sheer volume.

"You're... You're a monster."
