Chapter 96: Total Collapse (Part 2)
The pitch-black Shadow Knight stood in opposition to the Judgment Knight, separated by the painting Gu Yin was working on.
Gu Yin looked weary, as if he had been dispirited for a long time.
"I can't stop you? Tang Xian, you're nothing but a mere human. Though you teamed up with the Order, accomplishing a few unexpected feats, what can that accomplish? I've already found you; do you think you can survive long enough for those mechanical beings to explore all seventeen million worlds?"
At this moment, neither Eden's Master nor Tang Xian has arrived in person, yet both have employed the same method, manipulating two puppets with a portion of their consciousness.
The Silver Judgment Knight and the Shadow Knight.
Tang Xian spoke:
"I've entrusted my life to Junlin."
"Do you think I don't know your plans? Junlin is nothing but a failure; do you truly believe it can become the Destroyer? Even if it does become the Destroyer, do you think it can affect me?"
"You're indirectly admitting you're afraid of the Destroyer. It's the existence of the Destroyer that makes you fear this unconscious world, afraid the universe might create another similar entity at any moment. Indeed, I truly regard him as the future Destroyer."
Tang Xian, neither humbled nor arrogant, seemed to Gu Yin as if he already had the confidence to stand toe-to-toe with Eden's Master.
At this point, Tang Xian changed his tone:
"Hello, Creator, it's finally a pleasure to meet you. I'm here to take you away."
Gu Yin understood that the two puppet knights before him were the two players in this chess game.
He glanced at Eden's Master and said:
"Recently, I've noticed changes in the world. I've stayed away from the Sacred Mountain for a long time, only to find the outside has turned into this state. Those ancient apes have transformed into beings like you, resembling shadows. It seems all of this is your doing."
Eden's Master did not deny:
"This world does not need many base entities. The differences in thought, the diversity among species, are the greatest variables of this world, whereas eternity is immutable."
As a creator who has lived for several thousand years, Gu Yin opposed this notion:
"The only eternal thing is change itself. Our contract has ended."
"You're displeased with the world I've given you?"
From this statement, Gu Yin roughly understood the current shape the world had taken.
He had worked with Eden's Master for thousands of years and was naturally aware of its ambitions.
Shaking his head, Gu Yin said:
"I'm indifferent to what the outside world becomes; what concerns me is that the original intent of our collaboration has changed."
Eden's Master kept silent.
Tang Xian was glad to witness such a scene; this particular world surely possessed some uniqueness.
This uniqueness must be related to the Creator. The ability to create Junlin might be tied to some mysterious treasures of Eden's Master, but as someone who kept Eden's Master from dying for thousands of years and did not bring its consciousness to the divine kingdom even after embodying the world, this human must be of paramount importance.
Now, these two seemed to have a conflict.
"We must all realize that, at different stages, right and wrong will change. It is precisely because time flows perpetually and everything changes that this world lacks absolute right or wrong. Previously, I wished for you to create enough species because the world at that time required variability, but now it's different. This world is about to eliminate senseless diversity and change, making right and wrong fixed in this way."
"But my preference is to create diverse species. I don't care much about those things. As the God of Life, you want to create a world without genuine life. I cannot accept this."
Gu Yin held firm to his beliefs.
Despite having expectations for the future when Eden's Master descended, at this moment, he felt completely disappointed.
At least following a judge allowed for free creation, but now, perhaps soon even the desire to create would be gone.
Every encounter, every event, every internal transformation was meticulously calculated. In this way, how can this world talk of novelty? Of creation?
Tang Xian fittingly said:
"There is still a place in this world that can satisfy your demands, as long as you are willing to go with me."
"You want to betray me?" Although Gu Yin said nothing, Eden's Master had already discerned Tang Xian's intention.
Gu Yin said:
"After thousands of years of friendship, how could I possibly betray you? But the world I need is not like this."
It sounded as if he were saying, "I love you, but we cannot be together."
Tang Xian suddenly thought that, perhaps, in the long life of Eden's Master, not even the beings of the Eden Tribe were truly appreciated.
They merely possessed a portion of Eden's Master's genes but lacked the wisdom necessary to work alongside it?
So it chose a human?
Eden's Master was not an utterly cold and unfeeling existence. Perhaps this human was its only friend?
Tang Xian's thought was quickly dismissed.
A being meant to become the world itself, how could it care for a speck of dust in the world?
Eden's Master said:
"I regret that. I originally thought you would be different from the others, but now it seems this is a variable. Everyone's happiness is fairly similar, but it's those slight differences that make this world twist arduously. I will satisfy your preference."
