(1st POV)
We got back to her apartment.
She stepped inside first, tossing her shoes off while I stayed at the doorstep.
She turned. "You're not coming in?"
There was a pause in her voice. Long enough for her to sound upset.
"I want to…" I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "…but I can't."
I did not need to explain more. She already knew who was waiting.
Reze's smile faded a bit. "Makima, huh."
She sighed. I couldn't see anger in her expression, she looked..tired.
But then she forced a smile, as if she was always good at pretending. That same smile, that same blush on her cheeks, I did not know what was up with her.
"I had a great time today," she said. "Really. It was… nice."
Her voice lingered on the last word.
I smiled too. "Yeah… me too. I'll see you tomorrow."
I didn't say I promise. Not when Makima was around.
She nodded. "Don't die."
"You too."
Then I turned and walked off, her door closing behind me with a click. It shut way louder than it should have.
I walked slowly toward Makima's penthouse. I didn't want to meet her right now. My feelings were a mess after the date with Reze.
I really lost myself, huh?
Thinking I could just pretend to be deceived by Makima… and then deceive her in return.
Bullshit.
That being is way too smart for that.
I need to up my game. I'm done sitting around, and find out how it plays out.
I clasped my hands against my cheeks, squeezing hard.
"I got this," I muttered. I needed every bit of motivation just to keep moving forward.
I can't let my desire for Makima cloud my plans.
Not again.
In a couple minutes, I was already in front of her penthouse. I opened the door, expecting it to be locked… but it wasn't.
Is she awake?
I stepped inside. The place was as silent as ever.
She was sitting on the sofa, surrounded by her sleeping dogs, a book resting in her hands.
The Fall of Lucifer.
…Interesting.
She looked at me as I walked in. No smile this time.
Strange.
"You're back. Where have you been?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.
The way she said it… it didn't sound like curiosity.
It sounded like control.
Almost like a wife waiting up for her cheating husband.
"Well I… I had things to do, you see. Nothing for you to worry about," I said casually, brushing it off. I wasn't in the mood for games.
She stood up, slowly, deliberately. Her golden eyes with those concentric red rings never left mine. Every step she took felt like gravity growing heavier.
"You're lying."
I flinched.
Of course she knew. She always knew.
"What's the big deal?" I replied, folding my arms. "Didn't you say I have a month? I can do whatever I want, as long as I'm back at night… right?"
She stopped a few feet in front of me. Close enough to touch. But she didn't.
She just stared.
She kept staring until she started…
Laughing?
(Image)
"Hahahahahaha…"
It wasn't mocking.
It wasn't cold.
It was… genuine. Like something I said truly entertained her.
What the hell was so funny?
She finally looked at me again, her smile still painted on her lips. "You're adorable."
"You really think you can lie to me and get away with it?"
I didn't answer.
"You think you can make me yours. That you can defy my orders… say no to me…"
She stepped closer.
"…and yet here you are. On time. Just like a good boy."
Her smile widened.
"This outburst of yours… your attitude…" she paused, her eyes locked on mine, glowing like they could see straight through me.
"I like it."
Her fingers brushed along my collarbone, slow and deliberate. "It means you're changing… just like I want you to."
I was silent. Just standing there. Listening to her like some obedient slave.
She wants me to change. She's grooming me — not even consciously — into some idealized version she's built in her twisted mind.
So that's it, huh?
She doesn't love me. She loves the idea of what I could become.
I knew it…but it still hurts.
I was sure about my conclusion but I did not have any other reasons to believe otherwise.
I clenched my fists and forced a smile.
I wasn't going to give up. Not now. Not ever.
"So that's it, huh?" I muttered, voice low. "You don't 'love' me for who I am. You love the idea of what I could become. I'm just a fun project to you."
She didn't flinch.
I stepped closer, cupping her cheeks, forcing her to look at me. Her smile never faded. That same unsettling calm.
"I'll let you know one thing," I said, voice firm. "I won't lose. Not to you. Not to anyone."
There was no point in hiding it anymore. She'd probably expected me to figure it out eventually. If I hadn't, she'd think I was naive. Weak.
But then…
She blinked once.
"When," she asked softly, "did I say I don't love you?"
"If I didn't love you… I wouldn't let you touch me. I wouldn't let you kiss me. Or do more than that."
Her fingers traced my jaw gently.
"Know this, Aleks-kun… I love you. Exactly how I want to."
My heart started beating faster. I couldn't make sense of this situation.
She really did confess.
Fuck. I wasn't expecting that.
This has to be a lie. It has to be. She's just saying it to make me drop my guard — so she can hurt me later. Make me suffer.
It's all part of her manipulation. It has to be.
I kept denying it. Over and over again…
…but I couldn't say she was lying.
Even Johan's manipulation instincts — the best I had — couldn't pick up a single hint of deceit.
Either she was being honest…
…or she was lying so well, I couldn't even tell the difference.
I didn't want to believe it for a second, but it was too late.
My mind wants to refuse these thoughts, but my heart says otherwise.
I see two different women now in my mind…
Reze and… Makima.
"I see…so you love me so much you are willing to do absolutely anything to keep me by your side? Honestly what do you see in me? I am not even the strongest being in the world. I had expect someone like you would only be attracted to someone who is your superior." I confessed, although I lied about not being the strongest in this world. I had to know this answer.
Makima smiled like usual. Maybe she had expected this as well.
"You downplay yourself too much Aleks-kun." She said the same words the Goddess said to me. I was just being honest.
She grabbed my hand and took me to the bed.
"For starters… I like the way you look down on your enemies," she said, voice calm but hungry. "You kill them mercilessly… you don't even think twice about abandoning the ones who put their trust in you."
She traced her fingers across my bare chest. My shirt had been off for a while now. Her touch was cold yet pleasing.
She sat on top of me, our eyes never leaving each other.
"You walk a path riddled with chaos. You have all this power, and yet… you still live like you're just another human. It's pathetic and yet…" she said with a smirk.
Then her dress slipped off, exposing her breasts without hesitation.
She grabbed my hand and guided it to them.
Our eyes stayed locked, her gaze burning through me.
"I like that a lot." She said, her tone hinting a bit of possessiveness.
I couldn't help but think she was being somewhat vague about the reason she likes me. It seems she doesn't wnat to fully confess right now.
(3rd POV)
"I want you to do one thing for me, Aleks-kun…" Makima said softly, laying next to him, on the bed their hands intertwined.
"What is it?" Aleks finally asked, cautious. He could feel that she was setting something up.
"There's a mission coming up in Kyoto. I won't hide it from you—things are going to get a lot worse than you expect. That's just how I feel."
"If you handle this… I will grant you any one wish you want."
"Any… wish?" Aleks asked, a flicker of hope and desire in his voice. "No matter what it is?"
Makima turned her gaze slowly to him, her eyes unreadable. "That's exactly what any wish means, Aleks-kun."
She leaned in just slightly, voice lowering but steady. "There's a group that's been after me for a long time. They've failed before… but this time, I'm certain they won't hold back."
Her fingers tightened around his hand. "If I were to be in danger… you would save me, wouldn't you?"
"I'll do anything to save you. I won't let anything happen to you. You hear me? You're mine, and no one can take you away." Aleks said as he stood up and leaned over her, pinning her beneath him.
All she did was smile, their gaze never left each other. And just like that the night went by.

It was another seemingly normal day. The world as wonderful as ever. But inside Public Safety Headquarters—especially within Makima's private quarters—the air was thick with tension.
Both Reze and Aleks were present, waiting expectantly for Makima to assign them their next mission. Yet, the atmosphere suggested something else.
"So, you're sending Aleks-kun and me to Hokkaido… for team bonding?" Reze's voice carried a sharp edge of annoyance. She clearly didn't understand what Makima was playing at.
"That's exactly what I want," Makima said calmly, her tone unreadable.
"But why?" Aleks folded his arms, skepticism clear in his eyes. A paid vacation disguised as a mission? It didn't add up. There had to be more to this.
Makima didn't turn around as she spoke, her gaze fixed on the photos pinned before her. "You both need time to recover from your… setbacks on the first mission. Strengthening bonds with your teammates is part of that."
She paused, then added without looking up, "Also, there have been multiple reports of people disappearing from hotels in Sapporo. I want you two to look into it while you're there."
"I see…" Reze muttered to herself while side-eyeing Aleks, wanting to see his reaction.
"You can pack your things. I've booked tickets for a bullet train ride to Sapporo," Makima said, her voice calm but firm as she looked between them.
Reze nodded and quietly left the room. Aleks stayed behind, eyes fixed on Makima.
She tilted her head slightly, a knowing smile curling on her lips. "Is there something you want to ask, Aleks-kun?"
Aleks took a slow breath, weighing his words carefully.
He finally said, "What exactly am I supposed to find in Sapporo? And why are you in such a rush?"
Makima's smile deepened.
"Don't tell me this is another one of your tests? I'm expecting to face someone impossibly strong like Ophis or even Great Red there…" Aleks sighed, worn out. He was tired of being set up, forced to make those damn impossible choices.
Makima's tone softened, but her control never slipped. "This isn't a test, Aleks-kun. I just want you to have a good time. I know your first mission took a toll on you—don't try to hide that guilt from me."
Aleks hesitated. "Alright then… if that's what you really want." He turned to leave, but her fingers curled around his hand, stopping him.
He looked back, expecting her to say he careful.
Instead, she whispered, her voice calm and low—"I won't see you for three days. You're just leaving like that?"
Her eyes locked on his. "Kiss me."
Aleks blinked, surprised by the sudden demand. But there was no hesitation in her gaze — it wasn't a request. It was a command, laced with something possessive.
He leaned in and kissed her , slow and firm, at first but turned it a wild sloppy one.
When he pulled back, he caught the faintest smile on her lips.
Today was going to be an eventful day for sure, Aleks thought.

The hum of the bullet train filled the space between them as the scenery blurred by.
Reze sat with her legs casually crossed, arms folded. She finally broke the silence. "Do you have any idea what she's planning this time?"
Aleks didn't look at her. His eyes were fixed on the passing landscape. "Not a clue," he said, voice calm. "But if this really is just a vacation like she says… I want to believe it."
Reze chuckled. "Believe? Aleks-kun, you've met her. You should know better."
He smirked faintly. "I do. That's why I'm not letting my guard down. But if this is our chance to relax, even just a little… I'll take it."
Reze turned to him, eyes narrowed. "You make it sound easy."
"It's not. But no matter what we're walking into… I won't lose."
He finally glanced at her, a glint of confidence in his eyes.
"…I'm the strongest, remember?"
Soon, they arrived in Sapporo. It was surprisingly crowded, even though Golden Week was still a few days away.
They made their way to what looked like a luxurious resort — the kind that looked expensive just from the scent in the air. Tourists of all kinds filled the space: locals, foreigners, couples, families… and even some who weren't entirely human.
Aleks could spot a few fallen angels and devils disguised as ordinary people, blending in seamlessly. Laughing, drinking, holding hands with their human partners like this was their normal life too.
Everything felt… alive.
They stepped into the hotel's reception area. The lobby was sleek, modern, and smelled faintly of lavender. A polite receptionist stood at the desk, bowing slightly as they approached.
"We have a reservation. Name's Aleks," he said, keeping his voice even.
The receptionist typed quickly on her screen, then smiled. "Yes, we found your booking. Room 807. Here's your keycard. Please enjoy your stay."
They took the keys and walked toward the stairs—the elevators were swamped, of course.
Aleks and Reze climbed in silence, side by side. The hum of the crowd below faded behind them.
By the time they reached the eighth floor, something felt… off. The hallway was too quiet. For a place that crowded downstairs, the silence here felt scary.
Aleks stopped. His instincts flared up.
"…No way," he muttered, hand pressing against his temple. "Man, I'm so stupid. How did I not realize this sooner?"
Reze raised a brow. "What now? Don't tell me you forgot the room number"
"No. Worse." He turned to her, seriousness returning to his eyes. "Can you wait here for a second? I need to check something."
She nodded, albeit with a frown. "Yeah, sure… but you know you're acting weird."
Aleks sprinted up the stairs to the ninth floor.
Or so he thought.
The moment he stepped out, he froze—same hallway, and—
Reze was right beside him again.
"…What the hell?" she said, eyes narrowing. "I swear I didn't even move."
Aleks groaned. "You've got to be kidding me."
He looked around, he felt a familiar sense of déjà vu. He knew exactly what this was.
"A time loop?" Reze asked, voice low now.
"Worse," Aleks muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. "We're stuck in an infinitely looped space made by the Eternity Devil."
Reze folded her arms, unfazed. "Figures. Makima wouldn't send us on a 'vacation' without strings attached."
Aleks let out a dry chuckle. "She did mention people going missing, but she wasn't exactly specific. Guess we're fucked."
Reze glanced at him, a sly smirk playing on her lips. "Talking about being stuck in a loop… don't you think it's kind of romantic? Just the two of us, trapped in here. Perhaps forever."
He turned to face her, eyes locked. Without a word, he stepped forward and slammed his hand against the wall beside her, leaning in until their faces were inches apart.
"It sure is," he said, voice low. "Eternity Devil or not… if I'm stuck in time, I'd rather spend it with you."
