Polar Day And Polar Night

Chapter 27: Chapter 27:Paths of Wreckage

The aftershocks of destruction lingered in the void, cold as blood seeping from a cosmic wound. At the epicenter of the Glow-Cinder Walker's detonation, the immense void left by annihilated energy was slowly being filled by churning chaotic currents. Only drifting motes of ash, utterly devoid of vitality, silently bore witness to the end of a forcibly unified order.

The two split entities had vanished like inverse comets into the depths of space.

*The Blazing Comet: Pyre-Corpse Cocoon*

Lu Chen's will, wrapped in the raging essence of "Incinerate · Devour," slammed like an out-of-control blazing comet into a chaotic stellar region choked with shattered stellar debris and lethal radiation. Upon impact, a terrifying vortex of devouring force exploded outward, centered on him!

The blazing-white energy forming the comet's light was not a physical body, but a violent existence forcibly coalesced from Lu Chen's will and the "Incinerate" and "Devour" laws within the Glow-Cinder wreckage. Now, this mass of energy raged like a starved singularity, frantically tearing at and devouring everything around it!

Massive fragments of shattered stars were ripped apart, stretched into molten streams, and shrieked as they were sucked into the blazing-white core!

Deadly ambient radiation was directly "consumed," fueling even more turbulent energy within the core!

Even the chaotic law-eddies native to this stellar region were torn apart and digested by the ravenous devouring field!

"Ugh... Aaarrgghh—!!!"

Deep within the core, Lu Chen's will roared in pure agony and ravenous hunger. The insidious "Erase" power of the Abyssal-Erosion Stalker was embedded like a parasite in his very essence. Instead of being devoured, it acted as a catalyst, infinitely amplifying his primal desires to overturn, destroy, and consume everything! Freed from the constraint of Tang Xiao's "Stagnation," liberated from the governance of the Cinder-Glow Law, this desire was a cataclysmic flood, leaving only the purest instinct for annihilation.

Devour! Incinerate! Overturn! Turn all obstacles into fuel!

The blazing-white light swelled and twisted violently amidst its frenzied consumption. It lost its comet form, morphing instead into a **colossal, churning Cinder-Corpse Cocoon** of blazing white energy! Its surface roiled, studded with grotesque, tumor-like protrusions formed from compressed, molten debris. Within the main body of the blazing energy streams, the cold, dead white streaks characteristic of Abyssal-Erosion power flashed intermittently like venomous thorns embedded in flesh, relentlessly goading the core's madness.

The cocoon's gravitational field warped space, radiating a suffocating aura of destruction. Where it passed, even shattered stellar debris was utterly "digested," leaving only deeper void.

Yet, on the turbulent edges of this region ravaged by Lu Chen's devouring storm, shadowy, writhing outlines coalesced. These were not the pure "nothing" of the Abyssal-Erosion Stalkers, but entities radiating greed and filth—*Light-Devourers*. Born in cosmic junkyards and energy graveyards, these lesser predators were drawn by the potent, chaotic essence of "Incinerate · Devour" radiating from Lu Chen's core. Like hyenas, they prowled the storm's periphery, licking at stray energy scraps, waiting for the cocoon to falter in its mad consumption and reveal an opening.

Lu Chen (or rather, this uncontrolled Pyre-Corpse Cocoon bearing his name) remained oblivious, or utterly uncaring. Its "consciousness" was consumed entirely by internal fury and the thrill of devouring. It moved clumsily yet greedily deeper into the stellar region, towards denser concentrations of matter and energy. A path of utter nothingness and residual high-energy radiation stretched out in its wake.

* **The Azure Comet: Core of Stagnation**

In stark contrast to Lu Chen's raucous fury, the comet formed by Tang Xiao's fragmented will plunged into a silent expanse of slowly rotating, icy stellar dust and tenuous nebulae.

The comet did not crash. Upon entering this region, the ultimate power of "Stagnation" spread out like liquid mercury.

*Huummm—*

A low, almost imperceptible tremor of law resonated through the void.

The violently swirling clouds of icy stellar dust instantly froze! Every mote locked in place, preserving its last trajectory, forming eerie, absolutely static dust sculptures.

The luminous gases flowing slowly within the tenuous nebulae paused as if time had stopped, solidifying into winding, faintly glowing azure crystal ribbons.

Even the local flow of time itself was dragged by an invisible, oppressive chill towards near-total standstill.

The azure comet's light contracted, collapsed. It shed its form of flight, condensing at the heart of this region it had forcibly frozen into a deep, perpetually collapsing Azure Crystal—the Core of Stagnation.

Within the crystal lay Tang Xiao's absolute domain. The resolve to "become the prison with his own body," to freeze calamity, had, freed from the counterbalance of Lu Chen's "Incinerate" and the mediating "Covering" of the Cinder-Glow Law, also spiraled towards extremity. The will to protect had become absolute confinement; the pursuit of order had solidified into eternal stagnation.

The Core radiated a cold that froze the soul. It did not devour; it "Covered" and "Froze." It ceaselessly drew the "motion" attribute from the surrounding frozen dust, nebulae, and even space itself, converting it into sustenance to maintain its own absolute stillness. This expanse was becoming part of its eternal ice coffin, expanding the borders of stagnation.

At the deepest heart of the crystal, a point of cold star-fire stubbornly burned—the ember of Tang Xiao's protective will. Yet, even this ember was suppressed, encased in layer upon layer of azure crystal representing the "Stagnation" essence. The object of his protection had blurred; only the icy command to "freeze everything," "prevent any change," remained.

A subtle, cold, pure-white silhouette ghosted into existence at the edge of this stagnant dominion. An Abyssal-Erosion Stalker. Its smooth outline warped slightly against the field of absolute stagnation, as if instinctively repelled even by this ultimate stillness. Unlike its kin pursuing Lu Chen, it didn't approach eagerly. Instead, like the most patient serpent, it coiled just outside the field, its icy "gaze" fixed upon the Core of Stagnation. It waited. It waited for an inevitable flicker of weariness, a crack born from within the absolute stillness. To erase such an existence was an irresistible lure.

The Core of Stagnation hovered at the center of the icy necropolis it had crafted, silent and unmoving. Only the perpetual inward collapse of its azure light proved it still coldly executed its command to freeze all.

*The Fallen Scepter: Law's Orphan*

The Glow-Cinder Scepter, the supreme symbol of sovereignty that once commanded ash and radiance, defining the Law of Covering, now tumbled like a discarded branch. It spun and flipped, plunging towards a region where even chaotic currents seemed thin, space-structure fragile, and laced with fine void-cracks—the **Stratum of Chaotic Eddies**. This was the graveyard and cradle where multiversal laws intertwined, clashed, annihilated, and birthed anew.

Atop the scepter, the miniature Cinder-Glow Singularity pulsed with an utterly feeble light. Its rotation was no longer stable but irregular, twitching and flickering. At its core, the static-spark fissure—the root symbol of the conflict between Lu Chen and Tang Xiao—had not vanished with their separation. Instead, it was embedded like a brand within the singularity, stubbornly flickering, the source of violent internal energy conflict.

The power leaking from the singularity was no longer the governing "Covering" law, but chaotic, conflicting aftershocks: one moment bursting forth with a halo of ashen light attempting to freeze the surrounding void (echoes of Tang Xiao's Stagnation); the next exploding into greedy, pale sparks devouring nearby law-eddies (residues of Lu Chen's Devour). These diametrically opposed forces warred within the scepter, annihilating each other. Far from forming a protective field, they only hastened its descent and fragility.

The scepter's shaft bore the blackened scar left by the Abyssal-Erosion beam, a festering wound slowly, irreversibly "erasing" the dense Cinder-Glow substance around it.

*Humm… Humm…*

Subtle spatial tremors emanated from behind the scepter. The final Abyssal-Erosion Stalker, like clinging rot, pursued the falling scepter. It didn't attack rashly, maintaining precise distance, its icy "gaze" locked onto the miniature singularity and the flickering fissure within. It assessed. It weighed whether this masterless scepter, riven with internal conflict, was worth immediate consumption, or if it should wait for it to shatter amidst the chaotic eddies and scavenge the choicest fragments.

The scepter plunged into an area of kaleidoscopic, fractured-mirror light—a node of highly unstable, intersecting laws. An abrupt, unstable spatial fold gently "licked" across the scepter.

*Schhhlip!*

The space around the scepter's miniature singularity tore open! An irregular, dark fissure ripped through it! The conflicting energy within the singularity found a vent. A viscous stream of chaotic light—mingling ashen stagnation and pale devouring—oozed, was squeezed, and then *spurted* from the fissure!

This stream didn't dissipate. Instead, within the chaotic law environment, it twisted and coalesced as if possessing some grotesque vitality... finally forming a vague, constantly flickering Shadow! It shifted between an ashen humanoid form and a shape of pale flame. This shadow held no consciousness, only a chaotic projection of the conflicting laws within the scepter's singularity. It hovered silently beside the scepter, a pitiful, malformed symbiont.

The scepter gave no reaction. It continued its descent, bearing its wounds, its chaos, its indomitable twin brands, and its newly birthed, twisted shadow, plunging deeper into the Stratum of Chaotic Eddies. Its destination: the "Substrate Void," where even concepts began to blur. The Abyssal-Erosion Stalker trailing it, like a vulture awaiting a corpse's final twitch, silently closed the distance.

Three paths of wreckage stretched across the cold void. The sundered wills spiraled in their respective extremes. The shattered sovereignty plummeted into chaos. The Cinder-Stairway that once covered all realms seemed irrevocably broken in the explosive light, leaving only shattered echoes adrift in the silent covetousness of the Abyssal-Erosion Stalkers, heading towards an unknown terminus. Yet, the fissure branded deep within the scepter's singularity, the contradictory roots buried within the Pyre-Corpse Cocoon and the Core of Stagnation—embers from the same cataclysmic fusion—lay like sparks banked in frozen soil, awaiting the storm that would either reignite them or snuff them out forever.
