Chapter 79: Chapter 79 – Healed… But Not Completely

Chapter 79 – Healed… But Not Completely

"Haaah…"

Exhaling deeply, Asahi pulled his hand away from the egg, exhausted.

Healing this Lugia egg had been far more difficult than he had anticipated.

Not only did he have to repair the damage inside the egg, but also mend the cracks on the eggshell. These two tasks had drained him immensely.

Even though he possessed Verdant Aura and had been called the "Healer" by the Unown—

Even though Gardevoir's Healing Pulse was enhanced by the Psychic Plate, reaching its peak effectiveness—

Healing this egg had nearly drained all of his energy.

Asahi looked at the large silver egg before him, his expression complicated.

How should he put it?

It was… a mixed result.

He had healed it, but not completely.

On one hand, the Lugia inside had stabilized. Its life force was no longer fading, meaning Asahi no longer had to continuously channel Verdant Aura to keep it alive. That was a good sign.

On the other hand, the cracks on the eggshell, especially the hole tainted by ghost energy, remained unrepaired.

More importantly—Lugia was still asleep.

It showed no signs of waking up, let alone hatching.

Logically, after being sealed for so many years, this egg should have already reached hatching time.

After all, real-world Pokémon don't actually need to walk thousands of steps to hatch from an egg.

There was only one explanation.

"The ghost energy must have drained too much of Lugia's vitality… Now, it's too weak to break out of its shell."

Asahi narrowed his eyes.

For an egg that had endured centuries of corruption, surviving this long was already a miracle.

But now, Lugia couldn't hatch—that was a fact.

[Should I try Healing Wish?]

Gardevoir suggested telepathically.

Healing Wish was a powerful move that sacrificed the user to release an immense healing force, far exceeding regular healing moves.

Asahi immediately shook his head.

Although Healing Wish didn't actually mean death, he refused to let Gardevoir sacrifice herself, even for a Legendary Pokémon.

[No need. I have another idea.]

Asahi recalled something—

The Herba Mystica from Paldea.

In Scarlet and Violet's story, these mystical herbs were capable of restoring Koraidon and Miraidon to full strength.

With all five types of Herba Mystica, Koraidon and Miraidon had recovered completely.

Surely, they could also heal this damaged egg.

However…

Asahi could only create Herba-infused Pokéblocks with unknown effectiveness.

He lacked Arven's culinary skills, and without the Scarlet or Violet Book, he couldn't guarantee the full effect of the herbs.

There was also another issue.

Asahi stared at the Lugia egg.

Eggs don't have mouths.

How was he supposed to feed it?

Should he just shove the Pokéblock into the hole?

"...This is tricky."

After thinking for a moment, Asahi decided it was best to consult Professor Oak for advice.

But before that, he needed to convince the Unown to let him take the egg with him.

Above the Ocean

On the boat, Professor Sakuragi was monitoring the instruments with a serious expression.

Ever since the earlier energy surge, the energy level had been steadily rising.

Finally, after adjusting another device, a specific location appeared on the screen.

"Based on these readings, the energy source is definitely coming from inside the ruins," Professor Sakuragi confirmed.

Green examined the waveform displayed on the screen.

She wasn't an expert, but even she could tell—

"This energy… it's breathing?"

"Exactly," Professor Oak nodded. "If it were coming from an object, the energy fluctuations wouldn't be this rhythmic."

Now, they were almost certain the energy source was a living creature.

The only question was—

What had Asahi found down there?

Just as they grew more anxious—

The energy source moved.

"The signal is shifting… it's rising fast!"

Professor Sakuragi tensed. "Professor, the energy source is rapidly approaching us!"

"I see it…!"

Professor Sakuragi froze, following Oak's gaze toward the ocean.

In the distance, bubbles rapidly rose to the surface.

Then—

Splash!

Dragonite's massive body burst out of the water.

Immediately after, Dragonair soared into the air!

Seeing the two Pokémon, the trio sighed in relief—only to tense up again.

"Where's Asahi?!"

Green's heart pounded.

Just then—

The bubbling on the ocean's surface intensified, as if something was about to emerge.

Seconds later—

WHOOSH!

A massive wave parted, and countless black Unown swarmed into the sky.

At the center of the swarm—

A silver Pokémon egg, Asahi, and Gardevoir were being carried up!

Asahi, levitated by Gardevoir's Psychic power, gently landed on the boat with the massive egg beside him.

"Thanks for the ride!"

As he waved to the Unown in gratitude, he turned to the trio.

"I'm back. Sorry to worry you all!"

But none of them were looking at him.

Their eyes were locked on the enormous silver egg beside him.

"What… is that?"

Green voiced the question on everyone's mind.

"This?" Asahi casually patted the egg. "Isn't it obvious? It's a Pokémon egg."

"We KNOW it's a Pokémon egg," Professor Sakuragi said. "But… why is it this big?!"

"In that case…" Asahi smirked.

"I can tell you exactly what's inside."

"What is it?"

Asahi smiled slightly and slowly spoke a name that left the three of them stunned.
