Pokémon: Trail of Ultimate Champion

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Victors and Losers in Crisis

"Cough, cough."

Ooyama sat on the ground, struggling to support his body with his arm to keep himself from falling.

In front of him was his Honchkrow, already battered and on the verge of collapse.

"Heh," Ooyama laughed as he spoke to Mako, "After all the plots and schemes, do you really think it was all worth it?"

Mako slowly walked up to Ooyama. At this moment, she no longer had the cheerful demeanor from before; instead, she was filled with anger and bloodlust.

"Ooyama, are you really that foolish or just pretending? Does it still matter to say these things at this point?!"

"Pff." Ooyama couldn't hold back and spat out a mouthful of blood.

He struggled to lift his head to look at Mako. "Third has already run away; aren't you afraid you might end up making a fool of yourself for someone else?"

Mako replied expressionlessly, "Don't worry, he won't escape. You don't need to concern yourself with that; just focus on dying peacefully!"

"Zangoose, take care of him!"

Mako pointed at Ooyama and commanded Zangoose beside her.

"Zangoose!" Zangoose responded.

"What's happening to me?" Mako, having just issued the command, suddenly felt dizzy.

She stumbled and unexpectedly fell to the ground.

Zangoose noticed Mako's condition and, to avoid any accidents, stopped and did not attack Ooyama.

"What did you do?!" Mako yelled in anger.

Cough, Ooyama coughed a few times. "Hehe, I didn't do anything, but it seems you have indeed made a fatal mistake..."

With that, Ooyama could no longer hold on and passed out.

"Ooyama!"

Mako's earlier elegance vanished, her expression twisted with frustration and rage.

"Kill him, kill him!"

Upon hearing the command, Zangoose did not hesitate this time and quickly ended Ooyama with a Crush Claw.

Poor Ooyama, a near Champion Trainer, fell victim to the plot.

"Honchkrow!" The Honchkrow, realizing its trainer had been killed, let out a piercing, mournful cry.

Despite almost losing the ability to fight, it suddenly found strength from somewhere and quickly unleashed a Dark Pulse, attempting to kill Mako in vengeance for its trainer.

Zangoose reacted quickly, immediately turning to deflect the Dark Pulse with its Crush Claw.

"Zangoose, eliminate Honchkrow."

Mako issued her final command to Zangoose as she lost her last bit of consciousness.

"Haha, let you two fight it out while I take this perfect quality Pokémon for myself, hahaha!"

Yamamoto laughed loudly as he ran toward the vehicle outside the woods.

"Let you look down on me! Wait until I cultivate this Pokémon, and then we'll see how I take care of you and your crew!"

"Mako, you enchanting beauty, make sure to wait for me!"

All along the way, Yamamoto couldn't contain his excitement. Just the thought of becoming a Champion level Trainer, or even an Ultimate Champion level Trainer, made it impossible for him to control his emotions.

"So what if all the Pokémon in my possession die? So what if I end up wandering around, hidden from the world? As long as I can cultivate this Pokémon, it will all be worth it! What about the boss? He's just a near Champion; he will eventually have to bow down at my feet!"

Yamamoto looked eagerly at the box in his hands: "You are the key to my rise, my hope for success, my bright future, hahaha!"

A few minutes later, Yamamoto successfully returned to the vehicle.

He inserted the key, turned the ignition, and prepared to set off.

"I, Yamamoto, will truly be the one who laughs last!"

Just after saying this, his movements suddenly froze.

"What's going on? Why can't I move?!"

Yamamoto's eyes widened.

"Sorry, sir, but it seems the one who laughs last is me!"

A young voice came from behind the vehicle.

Yamamoto struggled to turn his eyes, trying to see who was ambushing him.

"You, who are you?"

Toshi emerged from behind the car and slowly walked toward the front.

"That's probably something I can't tell you."

"Butterfree, use Sleep Powder and let this gentleman take a good nap."

"Butterfree."

The sound of Butterfree came from behind Yamamoto.

Having already been hit by Stun Spore, Yamamoto was unable to resist the Sleep Powder and quickly fell to the ground.

In his last moment of consciousness, he deeply regretted allowing Sableye to guard the entrance instead of staying by his side. With Sableye's Ghost type, it would have easily detected Butterfree hiding behind the seat, and he wouldn't have been caught off guard.

But he didn't understand that without his other Pokémon, what could he use to suppress Sableye and have it serve him?

Toshi opened the car door.

"Butterfree, well done!"

Butterfree flew out from the back seat with a smile.

Yes, this was all part of Toshi's plan.

He reasoned that if the thin guy succeeded, what would he do after coming out?

Without a doubt, he would run away.

So how could he escape quickly?

If there were a large Pokémon that could carry him, then it would be possible for him to escape immediately.

However, Toshi judged that it was more likely he would come back to drive.

He thought that if the thin guy wanted to obtain this Pokémon, he would inevitably have to clash with the people below. Even if the thin guy concealed his strength and successfully dealt with everyone, his Pokémon would surely be injured. To avoid affecting his battle capability, he would definitely choose to drive away as a safer option.

Besides, how could the thin guy possibly think that someone was lying in wait for him here?

Caught off guard, this allowed Toshi to seize the opportunity.

Toshi snatched the metal box from the thin guy's hands.

"Now, this Pokémon is mine!"

Just like the thin guy moments ago, Toshi felt an excitement he couldn't put into words.

He never expected that he would actually succeed; even now, he felt a disbelief that it was real.

"Calm down, calm down!"

Toshi took several deep breaths. "Officer Jenny is coming soon. If she finds out what happened, this Pokémon will likely be confiscated!"

He couldn't accept that, so the thin guy's presence was a major annoyance.

He had to make the thin guy disappear; that way, in the end, only the thin guy would be found to have fled with the item, leading Jenny to search for the thin guy and not suspect that the item was in Toshi's hands.

Toshi quickly searched the thin guy, taking all his Poké Balls.

"Strange, why is there one empty? Did the battle below get so intense that he didn't have time to recall his Pokémon?"

Although Toshi was curious, now wasn't the time to think about that. He quickly signaled Butterfree to assist him in moving the thin guy.

After all, the thin guy was a grown man in his thirties, and Toshi was just a ten-year-old youth. Even though he often exercised, he couldn't carry the thin guy far, so he had to rely on Butterfree's help.
