Pokemon: This Trainer is Too Cautious!

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Encounter

Re-entering Cerulean Cave, Ace felt much more at ease.

A week of special training had truly helped Ace grow. Now, facing the wild Pokémon within Cerulean Cave, Ace battled with effortless skill.

"Powder."

Weepinbell spewed a large amount of mixed powder. Several Geodude and Graveler, before they could react, collapsed to the ground.

Razor Leaf followed seamlessly, instantly defeating these "stones."

"Return, Weepinbell."

Ace recalled Weepinbell. Looking at the scattered Geodude and Graveler, he couldn't help but shake his head. "Too bad, all rocks, can't eat them."

With a sigh, Ace followed his previous path back to the three-way fork.

Along the way, he didn't encounter the two Rhyhorn from before, which disappointed Ace. He had wanted to see if his current strength would fare differently against them than last time.

"Side Quest (Mewtwo's Bond): Deep within Cerulean Cave, there might be the answer you seek. Find it and confirm your hypothesis. Quest Reward: 1000 gold coins, quest points based on completion evaluation."

After glancing at the side quest again, Ace finally chose the leftmost, downward path.

He didn't encounter any Pokémon on the downhill slope, but the further down he went, the more noticeably humid the air became.

"Cerulean Cave is near Cerulean City, so there's probably a lot of groundwater. Humid air is normal, I suppose."

Ace reassured himself. He finished the downhill path and arrived in another extremely spacious stalactite cave.

Just as Ace found his footing, a Golbat suddenly dropped from the ceiling.

The Golbat opened its mouth wide, its fangs aiming for the back of Ace's neck.

"Lapras."

Ace opened a Poké Ball, and Lapras appeared beside him. A Blizzard attack instantly turned the Golbat into an ice block, which fell to the ground.

Crack.

The ice shattered, and the Golbat within it was also torn into pieces. With a single attack, the Golbat was dead!

Ace looked up at the cave's upper level, where several more Golbat and Zubat hung upside down.

However, due to Lapras's deterrence, these Zubat and Golbat trembled, not daring to act rashly.

Ace smiled. That's how wild Pokémon are; they won't provoke powerful enemies.

When facing powerful and ruthless enemies, they will only tremble in fear, afraid of being targeted.

"The feeling of power is truly great."

Ace said with a sigh. This feeling of an underdog rising up to sing songs of triumph could only be understood by those who had truly experienced life at the bottom!

Recalling Lapras, Ace continued forward.

He didn't know when, but Ace could feel the ground beneath his feet gradually becoming damp.

Occasional small puddles also made Ace realize that the surrounding environment was becoming increasingly humid!

Even the Pokémon appearing around them were now occasionally Psyduck and Poliwag.

When Ace reached the end of this cave, he found a huge lake before him.

The lake's surface was turbulent, clearly indicating an undercurrent.

However, Ace didn't know where the undercurrent led, or rather, he didn't care.

"Dead end, I'll go back and try another path."

Ace sighed, then prepared to leave.

But just as he was about to depart, Ace suddenly noticed something shiny in a corner.

"Something's there?!"

Ace instantly perked up, quickly rushing towards the glistening object.

But when he reached the spot, he found it was a hairpin, not the treasure he had imagined.

"A hairpin?"

Ace picked it up. He saw a rhinestone embedded in it, with many facets, which allowed it to reflect the faint light that had caught Ace's attention.

"Someone's been here? And probably recently."

Ace brought the hairpin closer to examine it. A faint fragrance emanated from it, indicating that its owner hadn't dropped it long ago.

"I hope they haven't found any information about Mewtwo yet."

Ace grew anxious. If someone else had beaten him to what he was looking for, he'd have nowhere to cry.

After some thought, Ace put the hairpin away and quickly left this dead end.

Once Ace climbed out of the cave entrance, he immediately headed into the slightly flatter cave in the middle.

As soon as he entered, Ace released Zubat, using its Supersonic to scout the entire cave's structure, hoping Zubat could also find the owner of the hairpin.

Zubat's Supersonic quickly spread out. With the reflection of the sound, the surrounding structural map appeared in Zubat's mind.

Just as Zubat was doing its best to complete the structural map, it suddenly noticed a faint sound coming from a distance within the cave.

The sound was as if something extremely heavy was running wildly.

Zubat instantly tensed up, flying directly in front of Ace and flapping its wings in a specific motion.

This motion was one Ace and Zubat had discussed, and its meaning was: enemy attack!

"Is a Pokémon rushing over?"

Upon seeing Zubat's action, Ace's entire body tensed up.

Behind him was the exit; if anything went wrong, he would immediately escape.

Boom, boom, boom...

As Ace stood ready, gradually, booming sounds reached his ears.

Narrowing his eyes, Ace, relying on the faint light within the cave, saw two massive figures rapidly approaching him!

"Lapras, Surf!"

The familiar figures and their immense size made Ace react instantly.

It was those two Rhyhorn!

But Ace didn't panic. Instead, he quickly threw a Poké Ball. Lapras appeared in front of Ace, slamming its fins heavily onto the ground, then pushing forward fiercely!

Instantly, a large volume of water gathered, forming a gigantic wave like a tsunami that surged forward!

"Wait! There's someone here too!"

A girl's voice came from the front, but Lapras's Surf had already been unleashed, with no possibility of being withdrawn.

Then Ace heard a girl's shriek, likely hit directly by the Surf.

The huge wave damaged the two Rhyhorn and halted their advance.

"You idiot! You almost killed me!"

As the giant wave gradually subsided, a figure rushed over. Beside her, a Budew glared at Ace, its eyes filled with hatred.

As the figure approached, a somewhat familiar face appeared before Ace.

The girl was soaking wet, wearing a black trench coat, her golden hair scattered, covering one of her left eyes.

"Cyn... thia!"

Ace was inwardly shocked, almost losing his composure!
