Chapter 107: Save someone
"Who are you? I don't remember anyone like you."
The guard looked at the three young people, who seemed to be around ten years old.
Why were kids in the underworld? Did they have a death wish or something?
"Me? You want to know my name?" Lukas said arrogantly, flashing a rather sly grin.
"Yesss?"
"Then let me answer you! I am L—"
"All right, shut the hell up, dude. I'm Tom, he's Jerry, and this girl is Spike. Nice to meet you."
"Huh?" Lukas looked at Rey, confused.
Of all the names, why did it have to be Tom and Jerry??
"I thought our names were— Ugah!" Lukas tried to protest, but Rin punched him on the head, glaring at him so intensely it was clear she was ordering him to play along.
"Tom, Jerry, and Spike? Never heard of those names before."
'YOU HAVE NO CHILDHOOD! YOU DON'T KNOW TOM AND JERRY?! I'LL KILL YOU!!!'
Rey thought to himself but said nothing.
"Get lost. I don't know why you kids are wearing our uniforms, but scram."
"So rude?"
"I'm being really patient right now."
Hearing that, the three had no choice but to leave.
"Well, at least we tried."
"Even though this plan was incredibly dumb, I thought NPCs would be easier to fool."
"Rin, did you forget what kind of game this is?"
The three of them sighed. They still had no idea how to sneak in.
They were currently at the largest casino in the underworld.
Honestly, they had thought of other ways to infiltrate, like sneaking in through an air vent or something.
Unfortunately, their bodies were already small, and the vents were even smaller, making it impossible to squeeze through.
Breaking a window to get in? No chance. There were tons of automatic gun turrets watching every entrance.
Not to mention, Houndooms were patrolling everywhere.
This whole infiltration plan was going nowhere.
Lukas had almost gotten into a fight with a Houndoom just because the Pokémon kept glaring at him.
"What do we do now…"
With no other options, the three of them sat somewhere nearby, observing their surroundings for an opportunity.
"Hm?"
Rin suddenly shook Rey's shoulder, signaling him to look in the direction she was pointing.
"Oh, that guy's being chased by a bunch of thugs. What's going on?"
"Well… He looks rich. If we save him, maybe…"
The three exchanged glances—then smiled.
***
"YOU FUCKER! YOU WANT TO STEAL MY MONEY THAT MUCH HUH?!"
"MONEY?! TO BAD THAT THE THING I WANT IS YOUR ASSSSSS!!"
"YOU FUCKING INSANE!! I NOT GAY!!!"
"He homophobic, let's kill him"
"Sure"
The young man ran in fear, nearly wetting his pants.
Meanwhile, the ones chasing him were ridiculously muscular, looking incredibly dangerous.
"Send out your Pokémon!"
"Go, Machop!"
Machop appeared and, without needing any orders, followed its instincts. It grabbed a rock bigger than itself and hurled it forward.
"Agh!"
The young man skidded to a stop, staring at the massive rock in front of him before glancing at his pursuers.
"You bastards! Do you even know who I am?!"
"Do you know who we are?"
"No."
"Neither do we. Boys, whoever catches him first gets to keep him!"
"YESSSS!!!"
"YOU FREAKS!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!"
The young man froze as they charged at him like a herd of Tauros, resigning himself to his tragic fate.
"STOP RIGHT THERE, YOU CRIMINAL SCUM!"
Everyone turned toward the voice, seeing three figures striking a rather bizarre pose.
"Guys, I'd advise you to stay away from him. He already said he's not gay, didn't he?"
"Who are you?"
"Us? We're just your friendly neighborhood citizens."
"Huh?"
"DIEEEEE!!!"
Lukas leaped down and punched the closest thug.
"Dammit! Who the hell is this lunatic now?!"
The young man looked on in terror.
Rin jumped down, facing the group.
"EWW! IT'S A GIRL!!"
"I'M GONNA PUKE!!"
???
Rin stood there, bewildered, as the thugs screamed and bolted.
"Wait, I wanted to fight! Why did they run?!" Lukas was confused.
"That works too. Let's avoid unnecessary violence," Rey said as he approached the young man.
"You okay?"
"Ah… Yeah, thanks for saving me from those freaks. But, uh… who are you guys?"
"Oh, I'm Tom, the redhead is Jerry, and the girl is Spike."
"All right, what? My name's not Je— UGAH!"
"Just ignore him. We were casino guards, but… we got… uh…" Rey turned to Rin.
"Fired."
"Ah, right, what she said. So, we saved you because we were hoping you'd help us get our jobs back. Deal?"
Silence...
"Why are you so quiet?" Rey asked, a bit worried.
"Do I… look like some rich guy who wastes money at casinos?" The man raised an eyebrow.
"Huh?"
"You guys want to infiltrate the casino, don't you? It's so obvious."
"..."
"Sigh… If you want to get in, answer me one question." He pointed at Rey.
"Uh, okay? Shoot."
"What's your goal? You guys don't seem like bad people."
'He's asking outright?' Rin and Lukas thought.
Hearing that, Rey's expression turned serious.
"I want to conquer the Underworld. Ask something else."
"Whoa, bold. What's your reason?"
"My reason?" Rey looked at him with determination.
"Because this place look like shit. I want to reform it, make it better, stronger, and mine."
A completely self-serving answer. If some righteous hero heard that, they'd probably see Rey as a villain.
"Nice. I like your ambition. Come with me."
Too bad for heroes—around here, they were considered naïve fools. Being kind could be good, but without caution, they'd just end up as disposable tools.
As the man started walking, Lukas hesitated.
"Uh… shouldn't you introduce yourself first?"
The man stopped, turned to look at them, and smirked.
"Me? I'm a revolutionary."
