...

After guiding us to a beautiful battlefield covered in beautiful flowers, we placed ourselves in our respective positions; both ready for a battle.

"Before we start, I would like to apologize again for our rudeness" - said Erika.

"Don't worry, I've already forgotten" – I said calmly.

That nonsense doesn't matter to me in the least, in fact, if it weren't for Celeste and Roxanne, I would have gone peacefully to the other gym, but I can't do anything, my girls are very stubborn and when they don't like something... they are to be feared, even I myself do not try to make them angry.

"I'm glad" – smiled Erika.

Then he looked at Carla, who had positioned herself in the same position as all the referees I have met so far.

"If you're so kind, Carla" – Erika said.

"Yes... From now on, a battle will take place between Ash from Pallet Town and Erika, the gym leader of Celadon City! The rules are very simple, it will be a 3 vs 3 battle and the first one to weaken the opponent's three Pokémon will be the winner!" – said Carla.

The time has come, the time to win my fourth gym badge. If I win her, I'll be halfway through the Pokémon League and one step closer to fulfilling my dream, a small step, yes, but a step, after all.

"You can start!" – Carla said.

At that very moment, Erika took out her Pokéball and threw it.

"Come on, Tangela; I choose you!" – Erika exclaimed in a soft tone.

And a Tangela went out on the battlefield ready to battle and give it his all.

Now the question is, which Pokémon will I use in this battle? The logical thing would be to think about Charizard because she could win against Erika's entire team without problems, however, do you think that this will be fun? Do you think I'll get better that way? I didn't think anything like that, besides, some of my Pokémon needed to improve and even evolve, so I have to give them a chance to improve.

"Bunneary, I choose you!" – I said.

And Bunneary came out of her Pokéball ready to defeat the Pokémon in front of her.

"We'll go first if you don't care; Tangela, use Vine Whip!" – exclaimed Erika.

Su Tangela nodded and launched a powerful attack aimed at Bunneary.

"That attack is too slow for us; Bunneary, dodge it and use Quick Attack!" – I exclaimed.

The truth is that, even though I can use 5 moves now, my Pokémon haven't learned new ones yet. I sincerely believed that they would remember their old moves and I could use them in a battle, but... I was practicing with some of them and they couldn't use the moves they used before, so until they learned new moves, I would have to settle with 4.

Upon hearing her trainer's orders, Bunneary dodged Tangela's attack with great ease and landed a punch to the side that took him back a few steps.

"Now use Double Kick!" – I exclaimed.

I think I should have used the gacha tickets I accumulated. Bunneary doesn't currently have attacks that are very effective against Grass-Type Pokémon, however, it's no time to bother about that, I have to use what I have on hand.

"Grab her using Vine Whip and throw her to the air!" – Erika said.

Bunneary was no fool and tried to avoid being grabbed on her leg, however, having numerous tentacles Tangela had no difficulty pulling out one more and grabbing Bunneary by the leg and throwing her into the air.

"Pull yourself together and use Quick Attack!" – I exclaimed.

Bunneary tried to do as her trainer told her, but...

"I won't leave you; Tangela, use Energy Ball!" – Erika said.

Surprisingly, Tangela's speed was superior to Bunneary's this time and his attack hit Bunneary head-on, sending her flying and crashing to the ground.

"Are you okay, Bunneary?" – I asked worriedly.

"Neary" – she nodded.

But she looked pretty tired... just from one hit? What's going on here?

"I recognize that you are strong, but your Bunneary will not be able to keep up and will eventually be a Pokémon that you cannot use in important battles" - said Erika.

"You are lying" – I said almost instantaneously.

"As I said, I admit it that your Bunneary has potential, but her current form prevents her from bringing out her full potential, being a first evolution doesn't benefits her in the least" – explained Erika.

For a moment I thought about Ash and all his adventures, how many Pokémon League did Ash win? If I remember correctly, it was only one and then he won the world championship, but why didn't he win the rest? Because of the script, lack of experience? Probably in the first seasons that excuse could be possible, but in later seasons that excuse ceased to be valid.

So, let's think for a moment: why in Sinnoh Ash was about to win the Pokémon League? That's right, because almost all of their Pokémon were full evolved making their team a near-perfect team.

Much later, at the world championship, he won it, but not only because of his skill as a trainer or the battle mechanics, but also because all his Pokémon were latest evolutions, therefore, what limited Ash in the first seasons was his lack of evolved Pokémon, Pokémon that, no matter how hard they try, there will come a time when their strength will not increase and it will be almost impossible to beat their evolved versions, that was his failure. In conclusion, Erika was right.

Bunneary also became thoughtful; is it true that the reason she was falling behind was because she was a first evolution? Was that the reason because she couldn't get stronger as quickly as her friends? She wanted to be like Pikachu, who even without evolving was getting stronger by leaps and bounds, but it was impossible and no matter how much she trained; now she couldn't even keep up with the rhythm of a Tangela...

She was discouraged, was this really the end? Was her strength as far as she went, couldn't she continue to improve?

"You're wrong" – Ash said suddenly.

Bunneary looked at him in surprise.

"What do you mean?" asked Erika confused.

"There are no weak Pokémon, only weak trainers, any Pokémon can reach the level of a Legendary Pokémon if they trained properly, only to do so you have to go through a long process; a process that almost no one is willing to go through" – I said.

"And what is that process?" – Erika asked intrigued.

"You have to see the world and the wonders it offers us, experience new sensations, adventures, but above all we all have to grow up as a family, only this is how a trainer and a Pokémon can get stronger, becoming friends, family and battle side by side, side by side, supporting each other in moments of weakness and anxiety and no matter how much you say that my Pokémon cannot continue to move forward with her current strength, I will tell you otherwise, we can, I believe in Bunneary because she's not just a friend, she's part of my family and the family always stays together, if she fails, we'll try again, together and we'll get to train until we overcome her weaknesses; but we'll do it together!" – I said.

Those are my true feelings, there are no weak Pokémon, but weak trainers who are not able to help their Pokémon, their friend, their family.

When they heard those words, not only Erika, but also the girls and even Bunneary opened their eyes wide and those words resonated within them as if they were echoing.

Family? Yes, that was what family was and the family helped each other, being there in good times and bad, because that's how the family was!

She was moved, moved by her trainer's words... and fshe believed in her and she was not going to disappoint him... never!

Suddenly, an energy began to emerge inside her body that she had never felt, unknown to her until now, but the moment that energy made contact with her, she understood it.

"BUNNEARY!" – Bunneary shouted.

And at that moment, a bright light illuminated Bunneary.
