Sato's plan to break through Ranka's large-scale ambush wasn't exactly difficult, but it wasn't easy either. The most crucial element was—luck. Without a little of that, the entire plan might collapse before it could even begin.
But with Ranka's meticulous scheme tightening around him, Sato couldn't think of any better way to get himself out of this precarious situation.
His plan was simple—impersonate Aoki and sneak into Ranka's team.
That way, he could hide in plain sight and, when the time was right, become the dagger that pierced Ranka's heart.
However, to successfully impersonate Aoki, Sato first needed to retrieve Ditto as soon as possible. Then, he had to obtain Aoki's most recognizable Pokémon—Scyther. And lastly, he needed to learn everything he could about Aoki himself.
The final requirement was that the drag queen Ranka didn't have a deep impression of Aoki, who had only recently joined his ranks.
Sato was confident he could meet the first three conditions. The last one, however, was out of his hands—and also the most critical.
Of course, Sato wasn't the type to leave his fate up to luck. If he got Ditto back, he could also disguise himself as other contestants, greatly reducing the chances of being targeted by Ranka's forces.
Still, he wasn't content with just running like a beaten dog. As long as that petty and vindictive Ranka remained alive, Sato's life within Team Rocket would always be under threat.
Now, this mysterious island was the perfect opportunity to get rid of him. If Ranka made it back to the Team Rocket base alive, killing him would become much more difficult.
A gentleman doesn't stand beneath a crumbling wall—and Sato wasn't even a gentleman. There was no way he'd tolerate that venomous snake Ranka constantly lurking nearby. Eliminating him as soon as possible was clearly the smart move.
Sato had no intention of simply surviving—he wanted to dominate this world without restraint. How could he allow a crossdressing freak like Ranka to defile his path? Absolutely not.
Yes, his first plan carried some risk—but a manageable one. And if this was the most reliable way to eliminate Ranka, then Sato was willing to take that chance.
Aoki couldn't be allowed to live. Sato couldn't be certain whether he had some method of contacting Ranka again once he returned to the base. He also didn't want to release a tiger back into the mountains.
So, after extracting enough information from Aoki, the following morning, Sato quietly ended the mentally unstable man's life to prevent any unnecessary surprises.
Time waits for no one. After handling Aoki, Sato shared a hearty breakfast with his Pokémon, then set out to begin a new day's journey.
The Red Gyarados was recovering remarkably well. Its tenacity from its days as a Magikarp was in full display.
In just one night, its body had healed significantly, and its combat power was mostly restored too.
However, what troubled Sato was that the recovered Red Gyarados was far more unruly than when it was injured.
When Sato tried to feed it breakfast, it almost smacked him with its tail—had it not been for Ursaring stepping in just in time, that massive red dragon would've sent him flying with a single swipe.
"Looks like you still don't respect me. Fine. Let's have a one-on-one. If you win, I'll let you go—no questions asked. But if you lose, from now on, you follow my orders."
Cold-faced and still recovering from a scare, Sato stared hard at the Red Shiny Gyarados, his tone dangerous.
He'd originally planned to tame it with gratitude—it was, after all, indebted to him for saving its life. But clearly, that approach didn't work on Pokémon as ferocious as Gyarados. The only way to command its obedience was to beat it into submission.
"ROAR!!"
The Red Gyarados still didn't see Sato as a threat—just a puny human with no power. In its eyes, only the strong deserved respect. And now that Sato had issued a challenge, it roared in fury.
It struck first, lunging from the pool and charging straight at Sato like a missile.
"Tch. Stubborn beast. Ursaring, Belly Drum, then use Fury Swipes to suppress it."
Thanks to his high-tech running shoes, Sato dodged the ambush effortlessly, then issued a calm command to the hulking bear at his side.
"RAAAWR!"
Following the command, Ursaring slammed its giant paw against its round belly with a thunderous thump and let out an even more terrifying roar than Gyarados had moments ago.
Having used Belly Drum, it sacrificed half its health to max out its attack stat. Its muscles bulged instantly—it had transformed into a true powerhouse. The pressure it radiated overwhelmed even the fearsome Red Gyarados, which visibly flinched.
The next second—SMACK!—Ursaring's palm landed squarely on Gyarados's face, swelling up half its snout.
BANG!
With a miserable howl, the dragon—easily five or six times bigger than Ursaring—was sent flying by that single slap, crashing hard into the rocky wall.
But it wasn't over yet.
Now fully pumped, Ursaring charged and launched into a frenzy of Fury Swipes—smack after smack, all directed at its opponent's face.
Thud thud thud thud~~~!
The cave shook like there was an earthquake, and the air rang with the echoes of repeated impacts.
"ROAAAR—!!!"
Between the shockwaves, agonized cries echoed through the cave. Red Gyarados, now pinned beneath Ursaring's giant paws, wailed like a helpless child before a playground bully.
There was nothing it could do—Ursaring's raw strength crushed it completely. Half its head was literally hammered into the rocky floor.
At only Level 25, the Red Gyarados had no chance against a Level 43 Ursaring with maxed-out attack. It was, in every sense of the word, a little brother—its arrogance shattered with each heavy blow.
Worried the cave might collapse, Sato eventually ordered Ursaring to drag the disobedient red dragon outside to continue the beatdown.
So Ursaring hauled the limp, fish-like body of Gyarados out of the cave and began swinging it around like a whip—despite it being several times larger.
BANG BANG BANG~~!
Every time Gyarados's head or body slammed into the ground, a new crater formed. The surrounding terrain soon became a landscape of potholes and broken earth.
Nearby, Sato stood with a cold expression. He wanted this lesson to be unforgettable—for Red Gyarados to remember for life who had the harder fists, and who the real boss was.
