Chapter 9: Discoveries and progress
[Timeskip - One year]
'Wow, I have to say, this past year has been awesome. First of all, I finally turned five, and at this point, the most important parts of the anime prologue will start.'
'Now, school has been… interesting, to say the least. I've befriended Yellow, and my friendship with Green has improved unexpectedly. We are closer than ever, and we've been hanging out almost daily, but I've noticed that she's become way too clingy and affectionate, constantly trying to gain my attention. I thought that was very suspicious, so I did an Aura scan, and I discovered why.'
'She is in love with me.'
…
'I mean, we've been friends for almost two years now, and besides, we're just kids. I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect her to fall in love with me. But I thought it would happen in a few years, not now. And surprisingly, Yellow is also going down this path. Since she has few friends, and I was the first one to approach her, she is starting to fall in love with me.'
'I am honored, but I don't like them like that, I just see them like friends, and I don't plan to have a girlfriend anytime soon. Besides, the only possible candidates are Green herself (and I don't think I will feel something for her anytime soon), Dawn, and Serena. And why only those three? Because they were, and still are fan-favorites, and that includes me.'
'And talking about Serena, I've learnt something. Apparently, the summer camp where I will meet her will be in two years. And knowing that, the summer trip where Goh sees Mew should be this year.'

[The next day]
Ash, Yellow and Green were walking around school, talking and laughing.
"Okay, okay, please give me credit, I was trying to befriend them." Yellow tried to explain.
"Befriend them? Yellow, you were dangerously close to some Weedle nests when you tried to 'befriend them'. Did you really think the Beedrill wouldn't attack you?" Green chuckled.
"I knowwwwwwww!" Yellow was embarrassed.
"Alright, alright. I have to say, that was extremely dangerous, and you could have gotten hurt, Yellow," Ash looked at her, and she got redder than a tomato. "But to be fair, she actually befriended them at the end."
"Yeah, but just because you saved her just at the last second." Green replied.
Just as Green said, the three remembered Yellow running away from an angry swarm of Beedrill, while Ash made sure that the Weedle were safe.
"Well, you are actually right about that..." Ash gave in.
'But what they don't know is that she only got out of it in one piece because of her Viridian Power. But if she didn't have it, she wouldn't be alive to tell the tale. And if I didn't have my Aura power, I wouldn't have been able to detect that she was in danger.'
"Hehehe, sorry." Yellow said with a nervous laugh.
As they walked they continued talking, mostly about their adventures.
"Oh, and do you remember that time Green tried to catch a wild Jigglypuff, with an old rusty Pokeball that she found?" Ash asked.
"Please, nobody could have known that Pokeballs need to be in a good condition in order to be used."
Ash was about to facepalm himself due to her stupidity, but then he remembered she was only five, so it made sense that she didn't know that.
"Nobody except me." Ash argumented.
"..."
"He has a point you know," Yellow intervened. "He is the smartest kid in all Pallet Town, of course he knew it."
"Yeah, you are right about that," Green admitted. "He is a prodigy in literally everything, especially when it comes to Pokemon, so it does make sense. But the good thing about him being so smart is that we can copy from his tests and since he never fails we can easily pass them."
"Yes," Ash said. "And you still have to make it up for me due to the fifty-five times I've let you copy me."
"Aww, you are no fun..." Green pouted.
"Well Green, to be fai..."
Ash was going to say something to her, but something catched his attention. He saw a five-year-old boy who wore a long purple shirt, dark gray pants, a yin and yang necklace, and brown boots with black straps encircling them. He was Gary Oak.
'Finally, I wondered when I would find him.' he thought.
"What happened Ash?" Yellow asked.
"Well, do you remember that presumptuous and arrogant boy in our class?"
"Now that you mention him, yeah, I do. Gary, isn't him? He is the boy who thought he was the smartest, most handsome boy in Pallet Town."
"Yeah," Green chuckled. "Until Ash proved him otherwise. Not only he crushed him on the intellectual part, but he also destroyed him in the appearance part."
Both Ash and Green laughed while remembering that, while Yellow was trying not to.
"I think the only thing he's better at than me is money, but without a proper brain, all that money it's just useless." Ash said as a matter of fact.
"PFTTTT!!!!!" Green almost fell over from laughing.
"HAHA!!" Yellow couldn't hold it any longer and also started laughing.
While Green and Yellow were laughing, Ash decided to do something he had been meaning to do for a long while. So he approached Gary.
"Heya dude." Ash said while walking towards him.
"Hey, IT'S YOU!!!" Gary shouted.
"Who, me?" Ash asked while pointing at himself.
"Of course!! You are the one who humiliated me in front of the entire class!" Gary shouted, his face red from embarrassment and anger.
Ash crossed his arms casually, tilting his head with mock confusion. "Humiliated? You mean that one time when you got three of ten questions right on the Pokémon biology test?"
"You tricked me! You must have hacked the test somehow!" Gary insisted, glaring.
Ahs smirked. "Sure, Gary. I hacked a paper test with my mind."
Gary opened his mouth to retort but couldn't find a comeback. Ash took the opportunity.
"Look Gary," he said, his tone softening just a bit. "I'm not your enemy. You're smart, not as smart as me, obviously; but smart. You just need to stop trying to prove something to everyone all the time."
He blinked, taken off guard. "You… think I'm smart?"
"I think you could be better than me if you stop acting like a jerk," Ash replied with a shrug. "Maybe."
Gary stared for a moment, then scoffed and turned away. "Hmph. Whatever."
Ash grinned. That went better than expected.
--------------------
Ash was lying in bed that night, staring at the ceiling. 'Okay, Gary has officially entered the picture. That means the classic trio is now complete… But things are already different. Green and Yellow are both way more emotionally attached to me than they were in the original timeline. I need to be careful.'
He sat up and began to meditate, focusing his senses outward. His Aura, still faint, flickered and reached out into the night like a soft pulse. He tried to concentrate, and he felt something — a warm, excited energy from Green, a quiet fondness from Yellow… and something dark, distant.
He snapped his eyes open.
'What was that…? It felt like… rage? Desperation? But it was nowhere near Pallet Town. Somewhere far. South?'
His stomach twisted.
'Something bad is going to happen soon. I can feel it.'
And he was actually right, because somewhere, far away, was happening.
