Check Out My Pokémon Training Method is Definitely Not Normal!
"Arcanine, Flame Wheel!"
The golden Arcanine, her body engulfed in brilliant golden flames, curled into a fiery sphere and slammed into the Garbodor, sending the Poison-type Pokémon flying through the air.
With that powerful strike, the 1v3 battle came to a decisive end.
The three Team Skull grunts hastily recalled their defeated Pokémon and began retreating, shouting threats as they fled.
"Don't get too cocky with that Power Trip!" Tupp yelled over his shoulder. "You think you can mess with Team Skull and get away with it?"
"Just wait until our boss hears about this!" Zipp added, his voice cracking slightly. "He'll make you regret this!"
"If you're so tough, don't run away!" Rapp shouted, her pink hair bouncing as she ran.
Chris watched the three grunts disappear into the distance but made no attempt to pursue them. None of their Pokémon had been above level 40. Despite their affiliation with Team Skull, they were clearly just low-ranking members, not Executives. Capturing them would serve no purpose.
As he recalled his Arcanine, preparing to continue to his next destination, Ula'ula Island, Chris noticed something gleaming on the ground where the Team Skull grunts had been standing.
[You obtained 3 Totem Stickers dropped by Team Skull]
"Huh?" Chris raised his eyebrows in surprise.
Opening his backpack, he discovered that these three Totem Stickers were indeed counted among those that Professor Oak wanted him to collect. His current Totem Sticker count had now reached 53!
"You can get Totem Stickers from defeating Team Skull?" Chris recalled that, according to information he'd received from Captain Ilima after completing the trial at Verdant Cavern, Team Skull had a habit of carelessly tearing off Totem Stickers they found.
Was obtaining Stickers from defeated Team Skull members mere coincidence, or an intentional game mechanic? Either way, as long as it produced Totem Stickers...
Chris's eyes gleamed as a bold idea formed in his mind.
"Team Skull's base is in Po Town on Ula'ula Island!"
"I should pay them a visit!"
Without hesitation, Chris used Surf from Heahea City and headed straight for Ula'ula Island.
The main harbor on Ula'ula Island was Malie City, the largest settlement on the island. The local architecture featured distinct oriental influences, with bamboo decorations prominently displayed throughout the city.
While the Alola region was famous as a tourist destination, not all its islands catered exclusively to visitors. Ula'ula Island served as an industrial hub within the region.
It housed a dedicated waste processing facility and even had a one-person police station.
After arriving in Malie City, Chris first visited the Pokémon Center to heal his team, then spent time searching the entire city for Totem Stickers and useful items.
By the time Chris finished his search, it was past five in the afternoon. Dusk was settling over the island, and heavy rain was pouring down—a common occurrence on Ula'ula Island during the evening hours.
He had managed to find 8 Totem Stickers throughout Malie City.
Chris's Totem Sticker collection had now reached 61, once again qualifying him to redeem a Totem Pokémon from Professor Oak.
Not yet, he thought. I'll save them for now. After clearing Po Town, I might be able to redeem two Totem Pokémon at once.
As the most remote location on Ula'ula Island, Po Town was a considerable distance from Malie City.
The journey required passing through Route 11, Route 12, Route 13 to Tapu Village, and then continuing through Route 15, Route 16, Ula'ula Meadow, and finally Route 17.
Only then would he reach the gates of Po Town.
Along this extensive route, Chris collected another 10 stickers, bringing his total from 61 to an impressive 71.
Chris realized that gathering these stickers wasn't as challenging as he'd initially thought. With no story restrictions in the Alola region, he could access almost any location. Perhaps he could collect all 100 stickers first and claim the Totem Kommo-o before continuing with the Island Challenge.
There were likely more stickers to be found in Po Town itself.
Chris stood at the entrance to Po Town, surveying the scene before him.
Po Town resembled an ancient frontier settlement, encircled completely by stone walls. The only ways in were either by flying over the walls or entering through the main gate.
Currently, a group of idle Team Skull members were stationed at the gate, serving as guards.
As Chris approached, his handheld device immediately displayed an alert.
[Enter dungeon "Po Town-Team Skull Base"? (First-time completion rewards available)] [Yes/No]
[Recommended entry level: 75]
Chris was surprised by the suggested level for the Team Skull base dungeon.
With his recent training, his Pokémon were approaching level 70. Given their exceptional individual values, Chris's training methods, and the numerous Gym Badge and hidden bonuses they'd acquired, facing opponents 5 levels higher shouldn't be a problem.
So... why not check it out?
Chris selected "Yes" to enter the dungeon.
The scenery instantly transformed. Chris found himself standing at Po Town's entrance, with Team Skull guards visible in the distance.
As he drew closer, Chris overheard the three Team Skull members he'd defeated earlier complaining to their companions at the gate.
"What happened to you three? You're covered in mud! Who messed you up?" one of the gate guards asked.
"You wouldn't believe it!" Tupp exclaimed loudly, his voice filled with indignation. "We ran into some foreign trainer on Akala Island today who was openly trash-talking our boss in the street! Could we let that slide after hearing it? We challenged him on the spot! It's just bad luck that we didn't bring our main Pokémon with us today, so he managed to beat us."
"Exactly!" Zipp and Rapp chimed in together.
Upon hearing that a foreign trainer had arrived and dared to disrespect their boss in public, the Team Skull gate guards became visibly angry.
"Someone's actually doing that? Someone dares to mess with Team Skull? Don't they know our reputation throughout Alola?"
"Let's go find this foreign trainer! Take me to him! I'll show him just how powerful Team Skull really is!"
"No need to look," Chris announced, walking directly toward them. "I'm already here."
Beside him stood his Arcanine, radiating golden flames like a miniature sun.
"That's him!" Tupp and his companions immediately shrank back behind the gate guards.
The Team Skull members eyed Chris warily, sizing up both him and his Arcanine with scrutinizing gazes.
"So you're the foreign trainer with the big attitude?"
"You've got nerve coming to Po Town after beating our guys."
"You're dead meat!"
"Salazzle, teach him a lesson! Use Poison Fang!"
A Poké Ball burst open, releasing a sleek, pitch-black lizard that lunged toward Chris with venomous fangs bared.
"Arcanine, Extreme Speed!"
