Pokemon: Rising From The Dark

The battle concluded swiftly as dusk settled over the landscape. Aoki and his Pokémon made camp near the base of Mount Chimney, the volcanic peak looming in the distance. Many of his Pokémon had been temporarily returned to their private island habitat, a carefully cultivated paradise that had become a comfortable home for his growing team.

Currently accompanying Aoki were seven Pokémon: Pupitar, Aggron, Blaziken, Swampert, Ralts, Bagon, and the ever-present Gengar lurking in the shadows as his hidden protector. The Flygon served as his aerial transport, resting nearby after the day's journey.

Pupitar stood motionless at Aoki's side, its normally active nature suppressed through intense mental discipline. This forced meditation technique helped stabilize the Rock/Ground-type's temperament in preparation for its eventual evolution into the mighty Tyranitar. At level 49, Pupitar needed just six more levels before reaching its transformative threshold, and Aoki wanted this transition to occur as smoothly as possible.

Aggron presented a stark contrast to Pupitar's stillness. The Steel-type ate voraciously and trained relentlessly under Aoki's direction. While its heavy metallic armor naturally limited mobility, Aoki focused their training on strengthening Aggron's musculature to better support its massive frame. The daily regimen of intensive physical conditioning and carefully monitored nutrition helped compensate for Aggron's natural disadvantages.

Blaziken had recently shifted its training focus from pure physical conditioning to more meditative practices. The Fire/Fighting-type could often be found perched on tree branches, eyes closed in deep concentration as it contemplated the philosophical aspects of combat. Aoki had introduced concepts about efficiency of motion and precision striking, encouraging Blaziken to develop its own unique fighting style that complemented its natural speed advantage rather than sacrificing it for raw power.

Swampert represented Aoki's first Pokémon to reach the Quasi-Champion level, though he had deliberately kept the Water/Ground-type out of battles to stabilize its rapid growth. The Sinnoh Tournament had necessitated pushing Swampert's development harder than ideal, requiring this extended period of consolidation. Now properly balanced, Swampert served as both a powerful team member and potential counter to Water-types that threatened Aoki's developing Sandstorm team strategy.

The remaining three Pokémon - Kirlia, Bagon, and Horsea - each followed specialized training regimens. Kirlia, despite being ready to evolve at level 20, was deliberately held back to maximize its impressive natural potential. Born with light blue potential, the Psychic/Fairy-type represented Aoki's best chance at raising a purple-tier Pokémon, justifying the extra developmental time.

Bagon trained with relentless determination, its dragon-type physiology allowing it to push harder than most Pokémon could sustain. Aoki occasionally worried about the young Dragon-type overtraining, but so far it had shown no signs of strain. The only thing holding Bagon back was Aoki's inability to locate the ideal evolutionary materials to maximize its potential.

Seadra had originally been caught to fill out Aoki's Rain team, but the Water-type had proven surprisingly adaptable. Keeping pace with Bagon's development through sheer competitive spirit, Seadra had become a valued team member in its own right.

As his Pokémon trained, Aoki sorted through his collected materials, preparing to craft the potential-enhancing formula for Ralts. He also had everything needed to finally hatch the long-awaited Riolu egg, though he hesitated to introduce another Pokémon until his current team stabilized.

The League communicator's sudden chime interrupted his preparations. The message displayed made Aoki freeze - Wattson, the Electric-type Elite Four member, had resigned from his position in the Hoenn region. This unexpected development signaled coming turbulence in the Pokémon world's political landscape.
