Pokémon: Rewriting Ash’s Legend

Chapter 135: Plans and Preparations!

"Heyaaa!"

Electivire surged forward with incredible speed—against Pikachu, it would have had the advantage.

But Ash's Pikachu was no ordinary Pikachu.

With its Gold-Tier Potential, Pikachu stood in a league of its own, unparalleled in the world.

However, in terms of sheer power, Electivire still had the upper hand.

"Electivire, use Thunder!"

Electivire raised its tail high, summoning a devastating thunderbolt that roared down toward Pikachu.

"Pikachu, use Agility, then Double Team!"

"Pika!"

As Pikachu's level and abilities grew, it had begun learning techniques it once lacked—Double Team was one of them.

Gary's eyes widened in surprise as Electivire's Thunder struck nothing but air.

This wasn't Ash's usual battle style. Had he changed his approach?

"I know what you're trying to do," Ash smirked. "That Electivire's ability is Motor Drive, isn't it? You were hoping I'd use an Electric-type move so that it could absorb the energy and boost its speed. But, Gary, you should know—we're both trainers, and I wouldn't fall for something so obvious."

Gary remained silent.

He had expected Ash to attack with an Electric-type move, allowing Motor Drive to kick in and give Electivire the edge in speed.

But now, his plan had failed.

"Pikachu, Iron Tail!"

With multiple copies created by Double Team, Pikachu and its illusions all leaped forward, tails glowing silver.

"Electivire, use your tail—wipe out all the clones!"

"Dodge and strike!"

"Pika!"

Pikachu nimbly evaded Electivire's sweeping tail strike, but its illusions vanished upon contact.

At that moment, *the real Pikachu's Iron Tail struck cleanly across Electivire's head!

The force sent Electivire stumbling forward—Ash wasn't about to let the momentum slip away.

"Now, Quick Attack!"

"Pika!"

A blur of yellow light streaked forward, ramming into Electivire before it could regain balance.

When facing Ash's Pokémon, giving him an opening was a fatal mistake.

Once he seized the advantage, the onslaught wouldn't stop.

That was the essence of Ash's fast-paced, relentless battle style.

As the saying goes—"Speed is the ultimate weapon!"

Being faster meant attacking first.

Attacking first meant controlling the battle.

"Finish it—another Iron Tail!"

"Pika!!"

Pikachu, fully in sync with Ash's commands, delivered a final decisive blow.

With a loud thud, Electivire collapsed.

[Ding! Congratulations, host! Pikachu has defeated Electivire, earning 18,500 battle experience points!]

Gary recalled his fallen Electivire, his fingers tightening around the Poké Ball.

No matter how much he wanted to deny it—

Ash had surpassed him. Completely.

Watching his longtime rival, a mix of emotions filled Gary's heart.

"This Electivire is strong," Ash praised. "It's just that Pikachu and I have been traveling constantly, battling non-stop. Our levels naturally rose faster than yours. You've spent most of your time focused on research, haven't you?"

"Pika."

Pikachu perched on Ash's shoulder, eyes full of understanding as it gazed at Gary.

Then, both trainers smiled.

Without another word, they flopped onto the grass, lying side by side.

"Ash…" Gary muttered, staring up at the sky. "You really have gotten stronger."

"You too," Ash replied.

Gary let out a small chuckle.

"You've conquered Kanto's Battle Frontier… Do you remember the dream we had as kids? We promised we'd become League Champions. But now, I guess I'll have to leave that to you."

They lay there in silence, lost in nostalgia.

Back then, they were just two kids, filled with dreams, always trying to outdo one another.

They both wanted to be the first to claim victory in a Pokémon League.

But in the end—

Ash made it to the Top 16 in the Indigo League.

Top 8 in the Silver Conference.

Top 8 again in the Ever Grande Conference.

Gary, on the other hand, reached the Top 32 in Indigo and the Top 16 in Silver—before stepping away from battles to become a researcher.

"…Well, I'm heading back," Gary finally said, standing up. "There's still a lot to study in Sinnoh. And Ash…" He glanced back with a grin.

"The Lily of the Valley Conference is in Sinnoh. Make sure you win it. Don't let me down. You're the only one who's ever beaten me, after all!"

With a confident smirk, Gary turned and walked away.

Ash watched him go, then clenched his fists.

"The Sinnoh League, huh?"

It wasn't just about living up to Gary's expectations.

There was someone there—a certain Trainer with a Darkrai—whom Ash had unfinished business with.

Preparations at Home

With Gary gone, Ash spent the next two months at home in Pallet Town, enjoying time with his mom and training alongside Anabel.

During this period:

He frequently battled with Anabel to sharpen their Pokémon's skills.

Misty and May kept in touch via phone, sharing their adventures.

May even planned a reunion, suggesting they visit the Sea Temple to see Manaphy again.

Delia was thrilled that Ash's two hit songs were written by her own son!

As a mother, how could she not be proud?

Meanwhile, Ash was already working on his third song:

"With an unyielding heart, I step forward—"

"Scaling the towering Mt. Coronet, ready to capture my next Pokémon—"

"Where will we meet? What battles await?"

"Excitement surges, like unearthing hidden treasure!"

🎶 GOODGOODSMILE!! 🎶

🎶 Everyone together— 🎶

🎶 GOODGOODSMILE!! 🎶

A familiar melody. A familiar rhythm.

Everything was coming together perfectly.

Once his journey through Sinnoh began, he'd release this song with Elesa's help.

Anabel, hearing the lyrics, started humming along.

"Alright, enough singing," Ash laughed, tucking away the song in his Pokétch. "We've got work to do. In these two months, we're gonna focus on training."

Squirtle was showing signs of evolution—Ash wanted to help it reach its full potential.

Latias had power but lacked control—it was time to properly refine her battle skills.

In two months, the Sinnoh Saga would begin!

And Ash Ketchum would be ready.
