They took turns entering the tent to change into pajamas, then crawled into their sleeping bags. Pikachu and Caterpie snuggled up beside Ash. Magikarp remained in the river outside. Resting in the water was better for them, so Ash didn't recall it.

After a night of training, both the Pokémon and Ash were exhausted. Soon, Ash fell into a deep sleep. Misty was also almost falling asleep while waiting and soon drifted off after Ash fell asleep.

Morning.

"Ah!!!!!"

Early the next morning, because they had trained too late the previous night, while Ash and Pikachu were still sleeping soundly, they suddenly heard a scream, as if the sky was falling. Ash and Pikachu, deep in their dreams, were instantly startled awake.

"Ugh?? Wha... what's wrong??"

Still a bit groggy, Ash rubbed his eyes and looked around. He saw Misty huddled in the corner of the tent. Caterpie was also awake, but now it hung its head, looking a bit dejected.

"Why... why is Caterpie sleeping next to me?!" Misty's voice was filled with fear. She had just opened her eyes to see Caterpie sleeping right in front of her. She had heard Ash's words and wanted to try to accept it, but it wasn't happening that fast. This was too sudden and still scared her.

"Uh... it probably rolled over in its sleep! Your reaction is a bit exaggerated, isn't it?"

The tent was only so big; there was nothing that could be done in this situation. But this kind of thing took time to get used to. If he kept recalling it, Misty would also find it difficult to adapt.

"It's not exaggerated at all; I was really scared, okay?"

"Alright, alright! I'm sorry! I'll take Caterpie out for now." Ash didn't say much. Given Misty's personality, this reaction was pretty good. If it were her old personality, she would have directly said she hated it or something similar without hesitation.

Ash carried the dejected Caterpie out of the tent. Misty only then breathed a sigh of relief. Although she was truly scared, hearing Ash's words and seeing Caterpie's dejected look, she couldn't help but wonder if she was really overreacting. Pikachu was no longer sleepy either. Ash carried Caterpie outside, placed it on the ground, and seeing its still dejected look, he couldn't help but pat its head.

"It's okay. Misty didn't mean it. She'll get used to you slowly."

"Cater...pie~~~"

Caterpie listened to Ash's words, slowly recovered its spirits, squinting its eyes in response. Ash patted its head again. Getting along with Pokémon was much easier than getting along with people. Because they were simple, without so much scheming.

Misty also came out of the tent and had heard Ash's words, feeling even more remorseful, but didn't know what to say. Ash didn't say much. He went into the tent, got his toiletries, and went to the river to wash up. In the water, Magikarp also poked its head out. Seeing Ash's eyes turn crescent-shaped, it greeted him by blowing bubbles.

"Morning, Magikarp!" Ash also greeted it, then began to brush his teeth. Misty also came to Ash's side to wash her face and brush her teeth.

Whoosh!!!!

While still brushing his teeth, he suddenly heard a commotion. A whooshing sound of air rang out. Ash heard it and instinctively looked up slightly.

In the sky, a figure swooped down towards the camp. Its body exceeded 1 meter in size, and its opened wings instantly gave a sense of covering the sky and obscuring the sun. Looking closely, its back had clear brown feathers, while its chest, face, and the inside of its wings were goose yellow.

Three long pink feathers extended from its head to the back of its neck. The area around its eyes was black, like a tattoo. Its pupils were pitch black, and its gaze was sharp. It had a pair of sharp three-clawed talons, and its tail had red and yellow tail feathers. It swooped down extremely fast. As its sharp gaze fell, it locked onto Caterpie.

"Pidgeotto?"

Ash frowned slightly. Pidgeotto was the evolved form of Pidgey. Unlike Pidgey, Pidgeotto's personality would change after evolution. It wouldn't be as malicious as Spearow, but as its flying ability and speed improved, its territory would expand to 60 miles, and it would fiercely protect its territory.

In the anime, he had never seen Pokémon prey on other Pokémon, but this was the real natural world. It was not strange for a bird to attack an insect.

"Danger!" Misty instinctively shouted.

"Pikachu!!" Pikachu also quickly shouted towards Caterpie.

But Caterpie's speed was very slow. Although it reacted immediately, Pidgeotto's speed was clearly superior. As Pidgeotto descended, Caterpie barely managed to dodge. However, it was still blown away by the air currents stirred by Pidgeotto's flight, landing on the ground nearby and rolling a few times.

"Pfft!!" Seeing this, Ash quickly spat out the toothpaste from his mouth and ran towards it. Misty also quickly rinsed her mouth and ran along with him.

"Pikachu!!" Pikachu jumped to Caterpie's side, adopted a battle stance, and looked at Pidgeotto, which was circling and changing direction in the air, preparing to attack again. The electric sacs on its cheeks sparked with electricity, ready to attack at any moment.

"Pikachu, don't interfere. This is Caterpie's battle." Ash came behind Caterpie, ready to command the battle. Seeing Pikachu about to interfere, he stopped Pikachu and said.

"Pika?" Pikachu was startled for a moment, looking at Caterpie with some concern.

"Ash, Ca... Caterpie is a Bug-type, Pidgeotto is a Flying-type, and Pidgeotto is the evolved form of Pidgey. Caterpie is not its opponent." Misty looked at the scene. She didn't know why, but despite not liking it, she couldn't help but worry.

"No... nothing is absolute. Type advantage is just an excuse for weak Trainers. Any Pokémon can shine with its own brilliance. I'll prove it to you now."

Ash shook his head seriously. This was a great opportunity. He wanted to prove to Misty that even a Bug-type Pokémon had its own unique qualities worth paying attention to.

"Caterpie, do you believe me?"
