Pokémon: Rebron as Red, The Strongest Champion

Red accompanied Erika to the entrance of the Celadon Gym, lowering his head to look at Eevee and sensing the intense fighting spirit emanating from Eevee's eyes.

Red silently nodded to Eevee.

"Eevee!"

Eevee jumped from Erika's arms to the ground, looking at Red with a strong fighting spirit. Eevee did not want to enter the Poké Ball on its own; it wanted to gain Red's approval through actual combat.

"Hitmonchan, I choose you!"

Red threw the Poké Ball in his hand, sending out Hitmonchan, who specialized in punching techniques, to meet the challenge.

As soon as Hitmonchan appeared, it moved its legs back and forth, continuously swinging its fists to punch the air, quickly starting its warm-up. Although it didn't understand why its opponent was Eevee, Hitmonchan, who loved to battle, didn't think too much about it. Its eyes filled with fighting spirit, firmly locking onto Eevee.

Seeing this, Eevee launched an attack first, flicking its tail to use Swift, sending countless stars flying towards Hitmonchan.

"Mach Punch," Red said indifferently.

Hitmonchan's swift punches left only afterimages, cleanly dismantling Eevee's attack. It then stepped forward, rushing in front of Eevee, its right fist, filled with cold energy, about to hit Eevee's body.

Eevee quickly dodged. After a moment of hesitation, it chose to change its form, enduring the pain. Eevee finally transformed into a Flareon.

"If you torment yourself like this again, I won't take you," Red said, displeased, scolding Eevee for foolishly disregarding its physical condition for the sake of battle.

Upon hearing this, the Flareon showed no sign of grievance. Instead, it listened to Red's scolding with joy, its face beaming as if it had eaten candy, clearly cherishing Red's concern for it.

"Viridian Power…" Red murmured, a verdant aura radiating from his body to heal Eevee's injuries.

"Don't be too lax, Hitmonchan, use Mach Punch!"

Hitmonchan's powerful punch fiercely struck the Flareon's face, sending it flying!

Enduring the pain, the Flareon quickly retaliated, spewing scorching flames from its mouth towards Hitmonchan.

Seeing this, Hitmonchan used Detect, perfectly avoiding the flame attack, and then posed to use Bulk Up, boosting its own Attack and Defense.

To improve Red's impression of itself, the anxious Flareon immediately used Fire Spin, trapping Hitmonchan in a pillar of fire.

"A show-off Pokémon will reveal its flaws," Red said leisurely, looking helplessly at the Flareon in front of him.

(Show-off? Flaws?)

The confused Flareon was about to check on Hitmonchan's situation inside the pillar of fire when it realized Hitmonchan's figure had already vanished. Sensing the heat radiating from behind, the Flareon leaped forward, narrowly avoiding Hitmonchan's powerful Mega Punch!

'I can't believe you withstood the flames!' the Flareon exclaimed in surprise.

'How can mere flames stop my attack!' Hitmonchan scoffed, shaking off the scorching flames from its body. Hitmonchan had already used Agility to leave its original position earlier.

After the initial battle, Hitmonchan keenly noticed the Flareon's weakness: it would release a powerful move without hesitation when anxious, which gave Hitmonchan an opportunity for a sneak attack. It was just a pity that Red would not let the Flareon lose so inexplicably.

"Hitmonchan, use Vacuum Wave!"

Hitmonchan's swinging fists continuously released air waves. To avoid the Vacuum Wave, the Flareon had no choice but to give up its attack, and its stamina gradually depleted as a result.

"Mach Punch!"

Hitmonchan's figure blurred again, appearing instantly before the Flareon.

In the Flareon's vision, Hitmonchan's fists instantly covered its entire sight. Just as Hitmonchan's fists were about to strike the Flareon's head, Red announced the end of the battle.

"You lost quite thoroughly, you silly fox," Red said with a teasing smile.

Seeing this, the Flareon pouted in annoyance, glowing white as it reverted to its Eevee form, unwilling to pay attention to Red.

But then it reconsidered. To become Red's travel companion, Eevee obediently ran to Red's side, rubbing against his thigh like a charm, hoping for Red's caring caress.

Erika looked on in despair at everything happening before her. When taking care of Eevee, Erika was always the one showing weakness, gently feeding Eevee food; otherwise, the shy Eevee wouldn't dare to swallow the food Erika offered.

Yet, with Red, Eevee was always the one actively clinging to him, and Red didn't make any appeasing gestures at all, which truly chilled Erika's 'fragile' maiden heart.

"To prevent your body from being affected by the side effects of the experimental modifications, you must first be transferred back to Professor Oak's Laboratory," Red explained to Eevee.

Although he wished to train Eevee now, for Eevee's physical well-being, Red decided to entrust Eevee to Professor Oak for care first. After all, Professor Oak is an authority in the Pokémon research world. Previously, the Blood-Red Gyarados also received Professor Oak's help, which allowed it to control its own wild power, so Red had full confidence in Professor Oak.

Red then looked seriously at Eevee, "Eevee, what form do you want to become? Think carefully first, once you decide, you can never regret it, or you can maintain Eevee's original form as you are now."

Eevee was stunned at first. Eevee had never considered which form to maintain. Although it hated the pain caused by the experimental modifications, the ability to change forms indeed made Eevee much stronger.

Red took out a Poké Ball and threw it at Eevee, capturing it in a red light. Then, Red operated the Pokédex in his hand, transferring it back to Professor Oak's Laboratory and marking the information for Professor Oak. Red's message was to entrust Professor Oak with treating Eevee's physical condition and, incidentally, to let Eevee choose its own evolutionary form.

Declining Erika's invitation to stay overnight, Red turned and went to the Pokémon Center to change his Pokémon lineup. Among them, Red transferred Beedrill and the Blood-Red Gyarados back to Professor Oak's Laboratory, then transferred Milotic and Cubone back to his side.

This battle made Red no longer worry about incompatibility with Beedrill's Mega Evolution. Coincidentally, Eevee was also transferred to Professor Oak's Laboratory, and Red also entrusted Beedrill to help train Eevee's strength.
