Pokemon: I'm a Farmer

Chapter 322: Chapter 323: Victini's Potential

Rex stayed at Yuri and the others' cottage until around 9 p.m. before returning to his own.

As soon as he stood up, the Pokémon who had been bonding well with Cynthia also followed him out the door.

This scene left Cynthia genuinely surprised. Although she now knew that Celebi and Victini weren't Rex's official Pokémon, she hadn't expected such deep bonds between them.

For the first time in her life, she felt a twinge of defeat in terms of Pokémon affinity—something she had always taken pride in.

Back at his cottage, Rex summoned Carbink.

Lately, Carbink had been spending most of its time with Combusken, often heading into the nearby Petalburg Forest alongside Ursaring and the others. Even Rex didn't see it much these days.

Though unsure why it had been summoned, Carbink was happy to be near its trainer again after a long while.

Rex gently patted its head and examined the gem on its forehead, noticing that faint pink glimmers had begun to appear inside.

It was still far from fully saturated, but the exterior now clearly shimmered with a soft pink hue.

"Celebi, Shaymin, Victini—I'd like to ask a favor," Rex said to the trio of Mythical Pokémon who had been romping around the room.

Though a bit puzzled, they stopped playing and tilted their heads toward him, signaling him to continue.

"I've had a theory for a while now. I want to evolve Carbink into a true Diancie. I discovered that by channeling life energy into its body, these pink particles start to appear in the gem atop its head—just like this."

As he spoke, Rex placed his hand on Carbink, channeling a stream of life energy into it. The gem immediately flickered, signaling the creation of another pink speck.

Celebi and Shaymin, intrigued, came forward, eager to try it themselves. But Rex stopped them.

"I'm not finished yet," he said, patting their heads gently. "The amount of life energy needed to fully saturate the gem is immense—even for Mythical Pokémon like you, it would take a very long time."

He then turned to Victini.

"But your appearance has changed everything. With your infinite energy, Celebi and Shaymin could keep producing life energy much longer without exhausting themselves. That could drastically shorten the time needed to fulfill this evolution condition."

He paused. "Victini, would you be willing to help us? Of course, only if you want to—I won't force you."

All eyes turned to Victini, who scratched its head sheepishly at the sudden attention.

But after a moment, it nodded excitedly. It was curious to see if its power could help Carbink break its limits and truly evolve.

With Victini on board, Rex knew the theoretical was finally becoming practical.

To avoid burning Celebi and Shaymin out, Rex had them take turns channeling life energy into Carbink.

Celebi went first, standing beside the little gem Pokémon and placing a hand on its body. Meanwhile, Victini rested one hand on Celebi's back, channeling a steady stream of infinite energy into it.

Life energy, with its naturally soothing properties, flooded Carbink's body, making it feel blissful and relaxed. Its little gem eyes squinted shut in joy.

Before long, the gem on its head began to flash rhythmically—each pulse signaling the formation of another pink glimmer.

The surge of life energy didn't go unnoticed. Cynthia, relaxing in her room, sensed the vibrant aura emanating from Rex's cottage. However, it lacked the raw, overwhelming power of the previous night, so she assumed it was simply Celebi or Shaymin casually releasing energy. She decided to ask Rex about it in the morning.

After thirty minutes, Rex had Celebi stop.

Even with Victini's infinite energy, Celebi still had to use mental focus to convert that power into usable life energy, and Rex could tell it was growing tired.

"Take a break, Celebi. Shaymin, you're up."

Rex rubbed Celebi's head soothingly. The Mythical nodded, grateful not to be pushed beyond its limits.

"Mi~!"

Shaymin, eager after watching all this time, quickly waddled over, placing its tiny paw on Carbink and beginning to release life energy.

Rex again limited the process to thirty minutes, not wanting either Mythical to overexert themselves for his sake.

It wasn't until this point that Carbink, in its blissful daze, realized something strange had been happening. Its body felt different, though it had been too enraptured by the comfort to fully process it.

Rex, examining the gem afterward, found that more than one-third of it now glowed with pink particles.

This confirmed his hypothesis: life energy input could indeed transform Carbink into Diancie.

If this pace continued, it might only take two more days to fully saturate the gem. Whether that would immediately trigger evolution remained uncertain—but the most critical step, energy accumulation, was within reach.

Satisfied with the day's results, Rex decided to let Celebi and Shaymin rest before continuing.

Even Victini, who had spent the whole hour empowering the others, looked worn out. While it could generate infinite energy, its spirit and mind weren't infinite—they too needed rest.
