Chapter 317: Chapter 318: Victini
It was deep into the night when a sudden flash lit up the skies over Rex Farm. Once the light faded, two mysterious figures silently appeared against the darkness.
Though the light only flashed for an instant, it didn't escape the senses of Shaymin, who had been sleeping quietly in the Gracidea flower field.
It immediately picked up on two powerful auras that had suddenly manifested nearby, causing it to jolt awake. While Shaymin wasn't sure if the newcomers meant harm, the sheer strength it sensed was enough to warrant caution.
Due to it being night, Shaymin couldn't shift into its Sky Form and was thus far weaker than usual. Rather than rushing in alone, it used its telepathic ability to alert Rex, who was still sound asleep, warning him to prepare.
Jolted awake by Shaymin's mental ping, Rex quickly roused his partner Pokémon and stepped outside. There, he found a scouting Swellow and ordered it to relay the message to the rest of the flock and the farm's residents with utmost urgency.
Two beings strong enough to alarm Shaymin had just appeared near the farm. If they bore ill intent, the consequences could be catastrophic. Rex couldn't afford to take this lightly.

Elsewhere, Celebi was floating in midair, glaring in frustration at another small, curious Pokémon of similar size—it was none other than Victini, the mythical Pokémon of victory.
Apparently, Victini had hitched a ride during Celebi's latest time jump, catching it off guard at the last second.
Victini was a small, mouse-like Pokémon with large, pointed ears that formed a "V" shape atop its head. Its oversized, blue eyes took up much of its round face, and its body, a soft cream color, looked disproportionately small compared to its big head. Orange limbs, wing-like tails, and three-fingered hands completed its unique look.
According to legend, Victini brings victory wherever it goes. Trainers who partner with Victini are said to never lose. This is due to the fact that Victini generates boundless energy from within and can share that power with anything it touches.
With Victini's help, Pokémon gain seemingly infinite stamina, capable of unleashing powerful attacks repeatedly without tiring.
Victini had become curious about Celebi's time-traveling ability after discovering it by chance. With little attachment to its own timeline and driven by curiosity, it quietly followed Celebi and leapt into the time stream with it.
Ordinarily, Celebi would never have the energy to bring another mythical Pokémon through time, but Victini's endless supply of energy made it possible. By supplying its power during the jump, the two had successfully arrived at Rex's era—and location.
Upon arrival, Celebi immediately noticed the stowaway and was furious.
Victini's sudden appearance in a new timeline could create unforeseeable consequences. Worse, it could attract the attention of Dialga and Palkia, the deities of time and space. If that happened, Celebi could end up facing their wrath as well.
Now, Celebi was frantically trying to convince Victini to return with it to their original era. As a result, its much-anticipated vacation at Rex Farm would have to be delayed.
Unfortunately, Victini had no interest in going back so soon. It had just arrived and was eager to explore this new era, meet new Pokémon, and have some fun.
The issue was, Celebi couldn't force it to return—without Victini's cooperation and energy, Celebi simply lacked the power to carry them both through the timestream again.
—
By this point, Rex had gathered his main team and arrived at the scene with Shaymin leading the way.
When he looked up and saw the two mythicals hovering in the air—locked in what seemed more like a disagreement than a confrontation—he relaxed a bit.
He recognized Celebi instantly, and Victini, from what he knew, wasn't a malicious Pokémon. The tension that had gripped his heart began to ease.
Celebi and Victini had noticed Rex and his team as well. Celebi was unfazed, recognizing him. Victini, on the other hand, looked intrigued. It broke away from Celebi's scolding and floated over, staring curiously at Rex and his Pokémon.
In its own era, Victini had rarely seen humans, having lived in a secluded forest far from civilization. Now, it was examining Rex closely, full of wonder and excitement.
Celebi, on the other hand, looked completely exasperated. It could tell Victini had no intention of returning anytime soon. With a sigh, it decided to let the situation be. If the sky was going to fall, someone taller would have to hold it up.
"Welcome back, Celebi. Is this Victini a friend of yours?" Rex asked, watching the scene unfold.
Instead of replying with words, Celebi floated over and gently tapped Rex on the forehead with one glowing finger. Immediately, a rush of memories and images filled Rex's mind—flashes of the time jump, of Victini sneaking in, and of Celebi's failed attempts to send it back.
Once he'd digested the information, Rex understood the situation fully. Victini wasn't from their timeline. It had stowed away out of curiosity and now refused to return.
What Rex didn't realize, however, was that the massive energy surge created by their joint time travel had been detected.
All across Hoenn, research labs and monitoring stations lit up with alarm. Every one of them registered the sudden and extraordinary burst of energy originating from the skies above Rex Farm.
Had Celebi traveled alone, its subtle energy would've likely gone unnoticed. But with Victini and its infinite power in tow, the resulting time-space ripple was impossible to conceal.
And so, unbeknownst to Rex, things at his peaceful farm were about to get very, very lively.
