"Breaking news! This is explosive! Completely unexpected! Who would have thought there was this kind of relationship between Trainer Liam and Lorelei?! What a bold and passionate confession of love!! Ah~~~ youth really is beautiful!!"

Lorelei's declaration ignited the entire stadium — no, not just the stadium, possibly the whole Kanto region or even further. From this day forward, many people would remember this girl who so fervently pursued love.

The crowd erupted in cheers and encouragement, shouting for Lorelei not to give up and to chase her own happiness.

But right now, the center of all that cheering — Lorelei — had gone completely red in the face after sending out her Jynx, not daring to look at Liam. The atmosphere was unbearably awkward.

Actually, it wasn't just Lorelei who felt awkward. Liam was just as uncomfortable. And yet, amidst that awkwardness, he couldn't help but admire her courage. After all, how many girls would have the guts to say something like that in front of so many people?

Liam knew he couldn't stay silent any longer. He had to say something. He understood Lorelei's feelings, but he also understood his own heart — and the girl in his heart right now wasn't Lorelei.

As harsh as it might seem, Liam decided he needed to speak honestly from his heart.

"Lorelei… I understand what you mean…"

Liam's expression was a bit strained as he looked at her, hesitated, and finally began to speak. But he didn't get the chance to finish, because—

"Ahh! I'm not listening, I'm not listening! Don't say it! At least not right now! I already want to die after confessing in front of all these people — if I get rejected too, I really won't survive! I won't let you say it! Jynx, Powder Snow!"

Before Liam could finish, Lorelei screamed to cut him off, fully aware of what he was about to say. Not giving him a chance to speak further, twin streams of icy powder burst from Jynx's palms and rushed toward Arbok.

"Crap! Arbok, Mud Bomb!"

Faced with the sudden attack, Liam immediately gave the command.

"Chaa!"

Arbok barely reacted to the incoming Powder Snow — it casually opened its mouth and launched a brown Mud Bomb. It collided midair with the ice, exploding into mud and slush that effectively blocked the attack.

"Hey! Lorelei! Can you let me say two words!?"

Seeing the attack neutralized, Liam took the chance to shout across the field.

"Heeheehee! It's no use no matter what you say! I won't listen! If you want to talk, then just surrender already! Then we can find a nice, quiet place with no one around and have a proper heart-to-heart! Say whatever you want — do whatever you want — I won't stop you! But for now! Jynx, Ice Punch! Go!"

Lorelei lifted her head to meet Liam's eyes, her face flushed red, her gaze dazed, and her expression strangely intense. She stared at him with a creepy gleam and giggled unnervingly.

"What the heck! She's gone full yandere! Arbok, counter with Iron Tail!"

Seeing her go full dark mode, Liam shivered. Spotting Jynx charging in with a frost-covered fist, he quickly gave the next command.

"Chaarbok!"

Arbok's tail swung powerfully, now gleaming with metallic light. With a loud whoosh, it collided hard with Jynx's Ice Punch.

BANG!!

A sharp crash rang out, and Jynx was flung backward, crashing heavily in front of Lorelei and shattering a thin sheet of ice.

"Chaa!!"

Arbok clearly won that exchange, but as it retracted its tail, something felt off. Glancing at it, it saw its tail now encased in a thick layer of ice.

"Frozen? That triggered Freeze? Arbok, use Fire Fang to melt the ice!"

With Arbok's mobility compromised, this could become a major liability if left alone.

"Chaa!"

Flames gathered in Arbok's mouth, forming four flaming fangs. It gently placed its frozen tail in its mouth, and with a bubbling, steaming hiss, clouds of steam began pouring out.

"Jynx! Get up! Please don't fall here!"

Seeing her partner sprawled in front of her, Lorelei snapped back to her senses, regretting her reckless command. She shouted encouragement at the struggling Jynx trying to rise.

"Jynx!!"

Jynx finally got to her feet and cried out toward Arbok, who had just finished melting the ice on its tail.

"Great job! Jynx! We'll go for ranged attacks this time! Use Blizzard!"

Knowing that Jynx was no match for Arbok in close combat, Lorelei switched strategies to keep her distance.

"Jynx!"

Jynx let out a cry as her long golden hair swayed. Then, a powerful Blizzard roared from behind her and surged toward Arbok like a tidal wave.

"Arbok! Use Iron Tail! Smash up the ice to make cover!"

With such a wide area of effect, dodging was impossible — they had to take cover.

"Chaarbok!"

Arbok's tail once again glowed with metallic light as it slammed it into the frozen ground. Shards of ice flew up, forming a wall of jagged blocks that shielded it from the storm.

"Now! Jynx, use Sing!"

Lorelei spotted her opening and shouted the next command.

"Jynx~ jynx! Jynx~ jynx!"

The Blizzard continued howling, but Jynx's sweet melody began drifting through the air, slipping past the icy barricade into Arbok's ears.

"Chaa…"

Arbok growled uneasily as the strange power in the song crept into its mind. Its eyes began to grow hazy.

"Damn it, it's about to fall asleep! We have to end this now — finish it in one strike! Arbok! Protect, then Coil, then rush in with Fire Fang!"

Sing could cause sleep, but Protect would block it.

"Chaarbok!"

Arbok coiled up fast, red energy flowing across its body as its power surged. The moment the glow faded, it launched itself like an arrow, cutting through the weakening storm. Flames erupted from its mouth as it flew straight at the still-singing Jynx.

"Watch out! Jynx, use Psychic! Quick!"

Seeing Arbok break through the Blizzard, Lorelei panicked and shouted.

"Jynx!!"

Jynx immediately raised her hands. Her eyes and palms glowed blue as Psychic took hold. Arbok froze midair, mouth blazing, suspended right in front of her. It struggled violently but couldn't break free.

"Nice work, Jynx! Throw it!"

Seeing Psychic succeed, Lorelei cheered, urging her partner on.

"Jynx!!"

The glow in Jynx's eyes brightened as she focused, trying to hurl Arbok away.

"You're dreaming! Arbok! Use Dragon Dance to break free!"

Liam's eyes narrowed. He knew Jynx's Psychic couldn't compare to a true Psychic-type's. They couldn't let this drag on — it was time to break out!

"CHAA!!"

Arbok's thick body twisted violently. A surge of bluish-purple energy enveloped it — the aura of Dragon Dance bursting across its form. Its writhing intensified, and in an instant, the glowing psychic field shattered.

Then — chomp! — its flame-wreathed jaws sank into the still-shocked Jynx standing right in front of it.
