It's fine to mess with me usually, but why now, of all times!?

When Leaf realized he had drawn another Master Ball, his entire body trembled. He nearly fainted on the spot.

He had painstakingly saved up three Lucky Draw Wheel spins, and now two of them had yielded useless Master Balls.

Could it be that his previous Mega Bracelet draw was just an astronomical stroke of luck?

"Damn it!" Leaf cursed aloud, growing more furious the more he thought about it.

"I'm done drawing for today. My luck is garbage! If I pull another Master Ball, I'll probably vomit blood!"

"What the hell is the point of this thing, anyway?!"

"Ordinary Poké Balls can capture everything except Legendary Pokémon. And in emergencies or one-shot captures, I can just drop 300,000 on a Premier Ball…"

"Why waste my two precious Lucky Draw spins on these!?"

Just as Leaf was pulling out a Master Ball and grumbling in frustration, the three Legendary Beasts reacted like they'd seen a ghost.

"What is that thing!?"

"Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling just seeing that ball!?"

"Is that… a Poké Ball?"

"We're Legendary Pokémon. Why would we be afraid of a Poké Ball?"

Even they found their own reaction unbelievable.

Leaf, noticing their behavior, quickly glanced down at the Master Ball in his hand.

"Huh? Are the Legendary Beasts actually wary of this Master Ball?"

"As Legendary Pokémon, their instincts must be sharper than mine. If they're this cautious, then…"

"Wait… no way."

"Can this Master Ball actually catch Legendary Pokémon?"

"If that's true, then… I've hit the jackpot!"

Leaf's earlier disdain instantly shifted to reverence. He now gazed at the Master Ball like it was a priceless treasure.

"Awooo! Awooo! Awooo!"

The three Legendary Beasts howled as soon as they saw the gleam in Leaf's eyes.

"I'm outta here!"

"Hey! What are you doing!? You were the ones who kept pestering me to go see that so-called Ho-Oh! Why are you running now!?"

"Get back here!"

Leaf hadn't expected the three Legendary Beasts to flee so decisively the moment things turned south.

He had no choice but to bark out orders:

"Darkrai, Metagross! Block them—don't let them escape no matter what!"

Metagross didn't quite understand Leaf's command.

The three Legendary Beasts running away should have been a good thing.

After all, even if Metagross and Darkrai could go toe-to-toe with them, these were second-tier Legendary Pokémon. They'd recover in no time.

Raikou and Entei had been using powerful moves nonstop yet showed no signs of fatigue.

It would take a full day and night to determine a victor.

Metagross's strength had improved dramatically, but it couldn't sustain high-intensity battle for that long.

Once it fell, Darkrai would be next.

And fighting two-on-one consumed far more energy than a fair fight.

But while Metagross didn't get it, Darkrai—now a second-tier Legendary Pokémon—understood something was up.

It had also noticed the ball in Leaf's hand.

Now that Leaf was ordering it to stop the Beasts… he must be planning to use that purple Poké Ball to catch the three dumb dogs!

"Awooo!"

Darkrai was faster than the three Legendary Beasts. In less than two seconds, it had cut them off.

"Move!"

"Get out of the way, or we'll fight you to the death!"

"Darkrai, don't push your luck. We let you go once already. Don't make us regret it!"

"Hilarious," Darkrai sneered.

"Let us go? You were scared witless by my master and ran away!"

"Bullshit!" the three Beasts cursed.

"You think we're scared of a human!?"

"We're not even running right now—we just remembered something Ho-Oh told us earlier. We're in a rush!"

"Move aside. Can you afford to delay Ho-Oh's orders?"

"Hah!" Darkrai taunted.

"Using Ho-Oh as an excuse to flee—how pitiful."

"Your Ho-Oh would be so disappointed if it knew you were dragging its name through the mud."

Opportunities to roast the three Beasts like this were rare. Darkrai was having the time of its life.

"You're Ho-Oh's subordinates. I couldn't care less!"

"If it dares to set foot on the Orange Archipelago, my master's island—I guarantee Ho-Oh will go there and never return!"

"You're dead meat!"

Enraged, the three Beasts prepared to attack.

Just then, Metagross arrived.

Throughout the exchange, the three Beasts had completely ignored Metagross, treating it as if it didn't exist.

Metagross was fuming.

"Hatcha!"

Its glowing steel fists smashed toward Raikou and Suicune from behind.

Meteor Mash!

A powerful Steel-type physical attack!

Earlier, Metagross had only used Bullet Punch because of its high speed.

No matter how strong Meteor Mash was, it was useless if it didn't land.

But now—these three idiots had the gall to turn their backs to it and argue with Darkrai.

How could Metagross not take advantage?

"Awooo—!"

Raikou and Suicune howled in pain as they were sent flying several meters by the impact.

Entei leapt forward, confronting Metagross head-on.

"Awoo awoo awoo!!"

"Impudent! Impudent! Impudent!!"

"You're just a pseudo-legendary! How dare you attack second-tier Legendary Pokémon!?"

"I think you're—"

"I think you're an idiot."

Suddenly, a cold voice cut Entei off from behind.

Bzzz—!

Before Entei could react, a blast of Dark Pulse struck its back.

Darkrai's ultimate Dark-type move hit full-force!

Entei was launched sideways—right into Metagross's waiting path.

The Steel Pokémon grinned and followed up with another Meteor Mash.

Even Entei coughed up blood from the combined assault.

Just then, Leaf arrived.

"Well done!"

Seeing Entei severely weakened, Leaf didn't hesitate. He threw the Master Ball.

"This is it—success or failure comes down to this one moment."

"Entei, be captured!"

"No—!"

Entei's eyes widened in terror as the Master Ball flew toward it.

If it were a normal Poké Ball, it could've shattered it with energy before it even made contact.

But this one—this purple Poké Ball—was different.

And Leaf had thrown it at just the right time.

Whoosh—

Wobble wobble wobble…

A white light shot out as Entei was sucked inside the Master Ball.

It began shaking violently on the ground.

Leaf's heart pounded in his chest.

He was still holding another Master Ball in his hand—the one he had just drawn.

Now that he was sure Master Balls could capture Legendary Pokémon, and given how rare this chance was, he made up his mind.

No matter what, he was going to catch one today!

Thump—

After five agonizing seconds, the Master Ball stopped shaking.

It actually… worked.

He had successfully captured Entei!

"Awooo—!"

Just then, Darkrai was suddenly knocked away.

Raikou seized the opportunity, darted forward, bit down on the Master Ball—and fled with Suicune.

"Damn it!" Leaf cursed.

"You fat dog! You think I'm going to let you run off with my prize!?"

"Darkrai, after them!"
