Chapter 718: Chapter 717: The Villain Dies from Talking Too Much
Just after Cain landed, Xenon controlled his Pidgeot to descend, landing not far away.
With a mocking smile on his face, Xenon said to Cain, "What happened? Not running anymore? I thought you could last a little longer."
Hearing these words, Cain also smiled. However, his response carried a tone of irony.
"Have you ever heard a famous saying?"
"What saying?" Xenon asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"The villain dies from talking too much!" Cain said, a sarcastic expression on his face.
For a moment, Cain's words left Xenon silent, surprised by the remark.
The villain dies from talking too much?
Xenon frowned and shifted his gaze toward Cain. In his mind, he questioned whether the young man before him still had any chance of resisting. But Cain's mockery made him reflect for a moment: Am I being too overconfident?
He realized that he had yet to eliminate Cain, and celebrating too soon would be a mistake. His expression shifted from mild confidence to seriousness.
"If that's the case... then die now!" Xenon shouted in fury.
At his command, Xenon's Pokémon prepared to attack. Gyarados and Arbok, who had just emerged from the water, positioned themselves alongside Pidgeot, Exeggutor, and Crobat. They were all ready to pounce on Cain at any moment.
However, just as Xenon was about to give the order, something unexpected happened. A strange noise began to echo from the top of the nearby mountain.
Small ice particles started falling from the mountain, slowly descending from the sky. Before they could reach Cain, a psychic barrier created by Slowking blocked them.
Xenon looked up at the mountain's peak with a frown. What he saw left him completely stunned: a massive black object partially blocked the sun, casting a dark shadow over the battlefield.
"Shaah!"
"Rooaaar!"
Xenon's Pokémon, especially Arbok and Gyarados, visibly bristled. Their bodies reflected their natural instinct to sense a mortal threat.
Xenon quickly turned his head toward Cain and, with a mix of surprise and fear, asked, "Is this your trump card?"
Cain, with a calm smile on his face, remained silent.
Suddenly, a loud rumble shook the area. A gigantic Pokémon landed near Cain, sending a powerful gust of wind through the battlefield and making the ground tremble.
When Xenon clearly saw the Pokémon that had just appeared, his eyes widened in shock. His face showed absolute disbelief as his lips barely managed to utter a few words.
"The... the legendary Regice?" he stammered, his throat dry.
It was true. The gigantic Pokémon that had appeared was none other than Regice, the Ice Pillar.
Now, Xenon understood why Cain had fled toward the sea and then to this island, even knowing he was being pursued. It was all part of Cain's plan, and Regice was his ultimate card.
Cain had formed a pact with Regice. According to their agreement, Regice would assist him three times, and this was the first of those three.
Despite his Pokémon being on high alert, Xenon still couldn't believe it. How was it possible that someone like Cain, who hadn't even reached the level of a quasi-Elite trainer, had a connection with a legendary Pokémon like this?
Countless questions flooded his mind: Weren't the three pillars supposed to remain in their respective ruins? What was Regice doing here? But none of those questions would help him now.
The mere presence of Regice made it impossible to fight back. If they were in a ruin, he might have been able to escape the area and avoid pursuit. But here, outside of any ruin, what chance did he have?
While Xenon remained trapped in his disbelief, Cain took a step forward toward Regice. He raised a hand and gently placed it on the Pokémon's body, reaching as high as he could.
Through telepathy, Cain gave his command. The yellow dots on Regice's forehead began to glow, and the legendary Pokémon nodded slightly, indicating that it had understood.
Seeing this, Xenon was paralyzed. Regice had accepted Cain's order.
Regice wasted no time and attacked. Despite Xenon's desperate screams for his Pokémon to resist, it was futile.
The first blow struck Arbok, his strongest Pokémon, which had reached its peak before evolving into an Elite-level Pokémon. But even this powerful Arbok was unable to withstand a single hit from Regice.
The impact was so brutal that Arbok was slammed into the ground, leaving deep cracks across the battlefield.
Gyarados and Exeggutor tried to counterattack but fell just as quickly. Regice's attacks were simply too powerful, and although Regice wasn't particularly skilled in physical combat, its sheer brute force was more than enough to completely dominate its opponents.
Raw power always triumphs over technique!
In a last-ditch effort to save himself, Xenon climbed onto Pidgeot and tried to escape. But before he could get away, Regice appeared in front of them, blocking their path.
With a single swift motion, Regice struck both Pidgeot and Xenon at the same time. The two crashed into the ground with immense force, crushed by the impact.
Pidgeot couldn't withstand the blow, and as for Xenon, a mere human, even less so.
Without even being able to utter his final words, Xenon lost his life instantly.
