Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom

Chapter 438: Chapter 437: The Terrifying Dragonite and the Appearance of Mismagius

"Take a seat; there won't be any more interruptions," said Professor Oak, gesturing toward a table and chairs under a large umbrella.

Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared in the sky, completely covering the large umbrella.

Professor Oak smiled. "Takashi, do you remember an old friend?"

Old Matsuda paused for a second before smiling as well. "Yes, back then, it hadn't evolved yet."

Before Cain could even wonder what was happening, the shadow disappeared, revealing a massive yellow Pokémon in front of him.

The scanner in his system activated instinctively, and Cain's reaction was immediate: his pupils contracted, and his heart nearly stopped.

"This is ridiculous! This Dragonite is completely overpowered!" Cain screamed internally.

It was the first time he had ever seen a purple-quality Pokémon. Not only that, but it was a Dragonite! With a level of 94 and such powerful moves, Cain was utterly astounded. He now understood what it meant to face Pokémon belonging to League champions.

This Dragonite possessed power on par with, or even exceeding, that of a champion. Cain had assumed that Professor Oak was strong, but seeing this erased all doubt: Samuel Oak wasn't just champion-level; he could easily rank among the strongest.

When Dragonite turned its gaze toward Cain, he felt something familiar.

"So that feeling of being watched when we entered Pallet Town was because of this Dragonite," Cain thought.

"It's grown quite a bit since the last time we met," old Matsuda commented, patting Dragonite affectionately.

Dragonite observed Cain with curiosity but seemed more interested in his shadow.

"Gruu~~," Dragonite murmured softly.

Professor Oak frowned at the sound.

"What's wrong, Samuel?" asked old Matsuda.

Cain's expression also changed. Dragonite was staring at his shadow, and Cain knew exactly what was there: Mismagius, who lived within it.

"Young Cain, have you been anywhere unusual recently?" Professor Oak asked in a serious tone.

Cain quickly thought it over. Professor Oak had detected Mismagius's presence. He decided it was best not to hide the truth.

"Yes, I've been to a somewhat troublesome place, but there was no danger. In fact, I found a companion. Although she's strong, she's innocent and untrained," Cain said, glancing at his shadow. "Come on, Mismagius, don't be afraid—you can come out."

At his words, a small head with a hat slowly emerged from his shadow. Mismagius's red eyes showed fear as she looked at Dragonite. She quickly hid behind Cain.

Seeing her, old Matsuda swiftly pulled out two Poké Balls, ready for any emergency.

Cain sighed. "Relax, Master. Mismagius is just a child. Even though she's strong, she doesn't know how to use her power. She's barely interacted with other Pokémon or humans. Now that she's with me, I'll make sure she learns the basics."

He pulled out two Pokéblocks and offered them to Mismagius. Despite her fear, Mismagius couldn't resist and devoured them quickly, a happy smile appearing on her face.

Seeing this, old Matsuda relaxed slightly, though he still didn't completely lower his guard.
