"This is so interesting..." Professor Oak muttered to himself while looking at the screen.

"What is?" I asked him curiously.

"According to this, Deoxys is constantly radiating a low level of radiation akin to what we would see being emmited from a star, like our sun."

"Is it harmful?" Mewtwo asked worriedly.

"Not at all. If anything, I believe that the radiation passively nourishes the area around Deoxys if it stays there for a long period of time."

"The island!" I said suddenly, recalling how the island we found Deoxys on was covered in lush grass and tall trees.

"The island was indeed covered in foliage." Mewtwo confirmed.

"Really? Perhaps I should go investigate for myself since, from what Ace told us earlier, the entire island would be saturated in the energy that Deoxys emmits."

"Uhhh.... Probably not." I told the professor, recalling how Mewtwo basically destroyed the island in his fight against Deoxys.

Currently we had Deoxys standing on the platform in the professor's lab, where his machines were analyzing him to better learn his signature. According to the professor, it was even possible that we could try to scan for matching signatures around the world, helping us locate his other cores.

At the same time, Lucario had taken the rest of my pokemon out back to say hi to the others, and to see how they were all doing since it had been a few days since we had seen any of them.

"How does it's energy signature hold up against Cosmog's?" Professor Kukui asked suddenly, as he approached us with Lillie and aforementioned nebulous cosmic cloud.

"Mog?"

"Its similar, but different. I suppose that IS to be expected though, considering both pokemon are presumbed to have originated from somewhere outside of our planet. However that would probably be like saying that a Magcargo and Ludicolo are similar just because they both come from earth..."

"I have the other data as well professor." Slowking said as he joined us with a sheet of paper that had just been printed.

"Ah, thank you Slowking." Professor Oak said as he accepted it.

"You look right at home." I said pointedly to the Royal pokemon.

"I am. The lab is very nice, and I can learn many things." Slowking answered happily, his speech having improved vastly compared to when I first caught him.

"You haven't been neglecting your training though, right?" I asked him, to which Slowking looked away awkwardly.

"Uh huh." I said, TOTALLY convinced that was the case.

"I shall drill him tonight, just to be sure that he is not skipping his training." Lucario suddenly said, seemingly appearing out of nowhere as he did so.

"That is not uh.....necessary?" Slowking said in an uncertain voice, though I'm sure that was just him trying to make sure he used the right word.

"Of course it is. Come along." Lucario said as he walked away, literally dragging Slowking with him despite the difference in their respective sizes.

"It is getting late." The professor said while glancing up from his data. "Not only that, but you two also got an EARLY start to the day today, didn't you Ace?"

"Yeah, that's right." I said, realizing how tired I was as well.

"You should all go ahead then so you can have some dinner and get to bed. Plus I know your mom would want to see you Ace." Professor Oak told me.

"You sure you'll be fine here alone?"

"I'll be fine, plus I have Kukui here with me." The professor responded, while his fellow professor waved in agreement.

"Alright then. I'll see you in the morning. You'll be ok, right Deoxys?"

"Hmmm?"

"You can trust the professor. He might get a little handsy at times with pokemon, but he means well."

"Hm."

With Deoxys nodding in understanding, the girls and I left the lab as we headed to my home, Daisy and Lillie following us as well.

"Mom?" I called out as soon as I opened the door, letting her know I was home and smelling something good as well.

"In here!" She called back from what sounded like the kitchen. For some reason, it seemed as if she had been expecting us.

"Welcome home~!" Mom declared as we entered the kitchen, where she was waiting with several dishes piled high with food. Food that made my mouth water just from smelling it.

"Were you expecting us?!" Dawn as we all gathered around the dining table.

"Well that's good. I always worry about the dangerous situations you seem to get yourself into."

"Thankfully we should have a bit of a break from those with Team Rocket gone. I don't plan to get involved with anything else until I win the Conference in a couple months. But before that I need to get my last Indigo Badge from Viridian city, and then the four I need from Johto."

"I see... So you won't be staying here long then?"

"Only the night. I have to hurry if I want to make it in time for the Conference." I told her.

"That's too bad. Though I suppose a trainer is always on the move. Your dad was the exact same when he was your age." She said with a bit of melancholy, before brightening up a little as she mentioned the past.

"U-Uh..." Lillie suddenly spoke up shyly. "Do you mind if I go with you tomorrow?"

"Oh?" I asked while the girls looked at her in alarm. "What brought this up?"

"Well, I just wanted to get out and explore a little bit with you... Plus there isn't much left for the professors and I to do at the lab where Nebby is concerned, so I thought it might be a good time to ask." Lillie explained shyly.

"Now that you mention it, I have been meaning to talk about our traveling arrangements for after tomorrow." I said while looking over two of the girls, visibly alarming them.

"WAIT! You're not getting rid of us, are you?!" Misty exclaimed worriedly.

"But Ace, we've been traveling with you since the beginning!" Dawn declared.

"Indeed. But your dreams were never about just traveling with me, were they?" I asked them.

"Dawn, don't you want to become a contest star one day?" I asked her.

"And you Misty. YOU want to become the world's greatest water specialist, right?"

"That's right..."

"That's right." I copied her, nodding slowly while looking the two girls over.

"Both of you have your own dreams, even if you've chosen to follow them while traveling with me. But Dawn, there are no contest halls in Johto. There WILL be one opening in Celadon city next month though, WHILE we are in Johto. As much as I would like you to keep traveling with me, I also want to see you on that stage for the grand opening, telling the whole world 'I am here!'"

"And YOU Misty. You want to be the best water coordinator in the world. What better chance to show yourself than at the Indigo Conference in a couple months? Both girls were quiet as they looked at one another, then back to me, then back to each other uncertainly.

"You don't have to decide right now. I mean, we have all of tomorrow when we go to Viridian city and while we're battling Karen. I just thought I would suggest it."

Though dinner was notably more subdued after that conversation, I could tell both Dawn and Misty were seriously considering what I had suggested to them.

That was good, mainly because they thankfully didn't seem to think I was just trying to get rid of them. All I wanted to give them the chance to better follow their dreams while we still had the chance.

Once dinner was over we spent some time visiting with mom, telling her in detail about some of the things we had done and seen since parting in Celadon city, such as the cycling road, Grampa Canyon, and all of the islands we had visited.
