Pokemon: Arceus' Champion

Chapter 195: In the Name of the Gods

"Who are you wackos?" Demanded one of the trainers that had been guarding the hospital, a native of Kalos that was unaware of the cults of Kanto and Johto.

"WE are the chosen followers of the almighty Ho-Oh!" Declared the old man at the forefront of the group, who was garbed in radiant robes that shimmered with multiple colors in the morning light. And as he spread his arms the robes flared in a manner resembling wings while he brandished a scepter topped with a multi-colored Keystone.

Standing behind him were five identical shrine priestesses that each had their own Eevee evolutions with them, while behind them was a crowd of people that appeared ready for a fight.

"Chosen of Ho-Oh?" The trainer asked skeptically.

"INDEED! We are the faithful of He who embodies the sun! The enbodiment of life and light!"

"I see... And why do you want Ace Ketchum?"

"Because! The filthy thief STOLE our Messiah! The white Charizard blessed by Ho-Oh!"

"""..."""

"Is that so?" The trainer asked, while he and the others narrowed their eyes at the man and his followers.

"IS there any proof that he 'stole' his Charizard from you?" Another trainer asked.

"No, there isn't. Because I never stole ANYTHING from them." Declared a voice that made everyone look up, to see Ace Ketchum himself standing above them on a glowing amber platform.

***

I sighed internally as I gazed upon the gathered followers of Ho-Oh, who have been after me, or more accurately Charizard, ever since we were in Cerulean city.

And as if they weren't enough, I could also feel the gazes and hear the mutterings of the trainers below me as they looked up at me with admiration. According to mom, they have been here since the SS. Anne pulled into port to protect me from any attempts by Team Rocket to finish me off.

As much as I appreciated their efforts, I would prefer it if I didn't receive so much attention.

Especially attention from people like those before me.

"Do not lie you charlatan! How else would a filthy son of Kanto acquire a Charizard chosen and blessed by the glorious Ho-Oh?!" The man in the lead of the group declared dramatically.

"Please." I said while rolling my eyes.

"I got Charizard the day I left Pallet town from professor Oak as an egg, and then we saw Ho-Oh after the area was beset by an intense storm. Ho-Oh blessed my egg then, and Charizard hatched from it a day later as a Charmander. Professor Oak would even have the data from when he examined him in Viridian city a few days later."

"A likely story!" The man in the lead declared as I explained how I got Charizard, obviously not believing a single word I said since they probably already decided I was a liar.

"Doesn't matter how 'likely' or 'unlikely' it is, it's the truth. And I don't need a bunch of pretenders calling me a liar just because of their petty jealousy."

"Jealousy?!" The man declared in offense.

"Yes, jealousy. Or have you forgotten that it was you people who drove away Ho-Oh to begin with? Now you just want to take MY pokemon and twist things to suit your own agenda, which is war with Kanto and the followers of Lugia." I snarled at him, letting my aura platform fade as I dropped to the ground in front of them. At the same time, the girls had also arrived as they finished fighting their way to the front of the crowd, with Red and Ash trailing right behind them.

"What do these creeps want?" Dawn asked as she stepped up beside me.

"To take Charizard, what else?" I responded without looking away from them.

"So they're nothing more than a group of thieves." Red stated loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Basically." I confirmed, making them even angrier.

"You dare-?! The only thief here is YOU!" The old man declared dramatically, while the others behind all shouted their agreement.

"CHAAAAAAAAR!"

In response to their shouting, a roar drew our attention skyward as the pokemon in question, Charizard, swooped down from where he was with Lucario and the others previously.

*CRASH!*

The ground itself seemed to shake beneath my feet as he landed beside me, radiating heat and fury.

"Oh my..." Red uttered, awe radiating him as he gazed upon my Charizard for the first time. And I couldn't blame him, as the morning sun reflected off of his white scales like a rainbow disco-ball.

"Truly the messiah of glorious Ho-Oh..." The old man before us uttered, as he and the others also appeared to have been entranced with Charizard's appearance.

"Char..." Charizard huffed with a puff of smoke, annoyed that the fanatics were so taken with him.

"Easy." I told him in a soft tone, before he started trying to tear these losers apart. Of course, I also hadn't forgotten what I said to Morty back in Lavender town, that I would use Charizard to burn the whole cult to the ground if they tried to take him from me.

"Can you not see that the radiant messiah does not belong to one as shabby as yourself?!" The man declared, changing his expression to one of disdain as he looked at me once more.

"Ouch. You REALLY hurt my feelings with that one." I said while shaking my head.

"This is your final chance to do the right thing, and return the messiah to it's rightful place! If not, then we shall resort to violence!"

As he said that, the old man activated a pokeball that opened to reveal a massive and powerful Charizard, one that rivaled Blaine's in size and strength.

"CHAR!" It roared challengingly at mine, even though they were supposed to be 'saving' him from me.

"""Us too!"""

With a cry, the fanatics behind the old man also sent out their pokemon, a collection Eevee evolutions along with fire, water and electric type pokemon.

"Don't forget that we're here as well!" Dawn cried out as she and the others also sent out their own pokemon. "Go Luxio!"

At the same time, Misty sent out her Vaporeon, May her Kangaskhan, Chole her Yamper, Lyra a Teddiursa, Hilda a Gothorita, Rosa a Heatmor, Serena sent out an Aurorus, Selene her Stufful, and Gloria a Mr. Rime.

"Let me in on this as well." Red added, surprising me a little before he sent out a pokeball.

"Char!"

"!!!"

I blinked when I saw Red's Charizard, which wasn't an alpha, or had anything special about it. Yet from it's aura, I could tell it was at least as strong as professor Oak's Dragonite, if not stronger!

"Damn..." I murmured quietly while appraising Red's Charizard.

"How do you like him? Charizard was my starter pokemon that I received from professor Oak over twenty years ago!" Red declared proudly to Ash and I.

"Amazing..." Ash uttered with as much awe as I felt. I'm pretty that even HE could feel the power radiating from our father's pokemon.

"It matters not! Charizard, use Fire Blast on those heretics!" The old man declared.

"CHAAAAAAAAAAR!"

With a roar the massive and powerful Charizard expelled a blast of flames right at us with the full intent of reducing us all to ashes.

"Charizard-" Red began, before something cut him off.

"GRAAAAAAAAAAA!"

A roar tore through the city that felt as if it was vibrating the air itself, before a streak of red light shot down from above to land directly in front of us to take the Fire Blast.

"What the-?!"

"N-No way..."

Exclamations and comments of shock and disbelief could be heard all around as everyone realized who the interloper was, a quadrapedal pokemon that was covered in thick brown fur, a streak of cloud-like fur going down it's back, and plates sticking out on either side of it like a pair of wings. Additionally, the pokemon was radiating heat like I was standing on the precipice of a volcano, and stood tall enough that I just barely came to the same height as it's shoulders.

"Th-this cannot be!" The old man declared, his complexion paling noticeably as he gazed upon the pokemon standing before us as it glared down at him. And I couldn't blame him one bit.

"Lord Entei!"

It was as if time itself stood still as everyone gazed upon the Legendary pokemon, one of the three servants of the Legendary Ho-Oh.

According to legend, the greedy humans of the past tried to seize the power of Ho-Oh for themselves, resulting in the burning of the Brass Tower while three pokemon were trapped inside, widely believed to be a Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon. As the pokemon perished within the burning tower, Ho-Oh was seen for the last time by humanity as it used it's power to restore the three of them to life, as the original Entei, Suicune, and Raikou.

Seeing one of the Legendary beast trio in person was jarring to all of those gathered, especially so close up. But that was nothing compared to what happened next.

While everyone was in awe of Entei, two more streaks of light appeared before they landed down beside it, one blue while the other was yellow in colow. And once the light died down, we found ourselves gazing upon TWO more monstrous quadrapedal pokemon.

The first one had a sleek blue body with diamond patches of white, along with a long flowing mane of purple and two white ribbon-like appendages. The final one had a similarly sleek body, but it was yellow with jagged black patterns on it's fur, with long purple hair that was curled at the end, and a tail resembling a blue bolt of lightning.

"Lord Suicune..... Lord Raikou...." The old man uttered in disbelief, before his expression immediately morphed into one of absolute joy.

"Behold my children! The righteousness of our cause, as almighty Ho-Oh even sends us the three lords to assist with our noble goal of freeing his messiah from the clutches of this charlatan!"

The morale of the followers of Ho-Oh reached an all-time high as the realization that even their gods had appeared to fight beside them spread, turning them into a veritable sun of energy and lust for my blood.

"NOW THEN MY CHILDREN! BRING DOWN THIS BLASPHEMER! ATTAAAAAAAAAAA-"

"ROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAR!"

Before the old man could finish his call to attack, Entei roared once more to expel a great torrent of fire from it's maw.

The fire, which consisted of the hottest flames I had ever felt in this close of proximity, consumed the old man entirely in an instant. He didn't even get a chance to scream.

A second later the flames died down, leaving behind only the lingering heat, and a pile of ashes to show that they had been here.

Just like the old man, all of the piss and vinegar that the cultists possessed went up in a puff of smoke, leaving them all silent and subdued. After all, I don't think any of them ever expected their own gods to turn on them.

"Thank you for that, Entei." I said while stepping up to the legendary beast, and patting it on the shoulder in gratitude.

As I thought, his fur was thick and contained enough heat that part of me wondered if I would be burned if I petted him for too long, while it was also surprisingly soft.

"Do not thank me, little human." A low rumble of a voice said in my head, one that apparently everyone could hear as well as they all jolted from it.

"You can speak." I commented.

"I can. And I only do so now due to the fact that you have caught our master's interest, little human. That, and he is tired of these petty squabbles that are being done in his name."

"I thought that Ho-Oh wouldn't care about the conflicts of humans?" I asked him curiously.

"He does not. But when they invoke his name while commiting such attrocities, then they sully it amongst both humans and pokemon. But I digress, that is not why we are here."

As he said that, Entei stepped back and Raikou stepped forward this time to lay something down at my feet.

"A token from our master. Give it to the one he has given his blessing." Entei commanded, even as I knelt down and picked up the shimmering feather.

"Amazing..." I uttered in awe at it, as the feather shimmered with every imaginable color of the rainbow.

I could feel the eyes of the three legendary beasts on me as I admired the feather, possibly waiting to see if I would do as they commanded, or try to keep the feather for myself. Despite their doubts though, I readily handed the feather to Charizard after I had finished admiring it.

"Be careful with this, it carries the power of Ho-Oh." I said while giving it to him.

"Char." Charizard replied while accepting it, though nothing happened when he did.

I admit, I half expected something dramatic to happen when he touched it.

"Now we shall take our leave. Take care you do not betray the expectations our master has placed on you, young one." Entei stated to Charizard after I gave him the feather, before he and Raikou both vanished in a streak of light like before.

Curiously, the only one remaining was Suicune.

"Is there something else?" I asked Suicune as it just stood there, it's ribbons and mane flowing majestically in the non-existant wind.

Without a single sound, it walked right by me before approaching Misty.

"W-what is going on?! Ace?!" Misty exclaimed worriedly as she stood face-to-face with the Legendary pokemon, her Vaporeon taking a stance in front of her as if to protect her if Suicune decided to attack.

I'm pretty sure I saw the edge of it's mouth curl upwards at the display, before Suicune exhaled to produce a cloud of thick mist.

The mist quickly enveloped both Misty and her Vaporeon, condensing into droplets of dew on their skin that were quickly absorbed by their bodies.

"Eh?" Misty uttered, her voice and body suddenly appearing fatigued, before she started to drop where she stood.

"I got you!" I exclaimed as I hurriedly caught her, while her Vaporeon slumped to the ground unconsciously.

As I touched her, I confirmed what I already thought had happend. I could feel traces of Suicune's aura inside of Misty's body.

It's goal accomplished, Suicune gave me a quick look before turning it's back on us, and then shooting away after Raikou and Entei in a streak of blue light.

For a moment no one spoke as they tried to process what had just happened, while I hurriedly scooped Misty up into my arms in a proncess carry.

"Let's hurry and get her and Vaporeon back to the hospital. I don't think Suicune would do anything to hurt her, but better to be safe than sorry." I told the others, who were roused from their stupor as they recalled their pokemon and followed after me, May with Vaporeon in her arms.
