Pokemon Alternate Universe Adventures

I watched amusedly as some called Kun/Azuraid and Ali/Gallade lucky for being able to battle two days in a row. It was funny to see them embarrassed about that even though it was my choice that resulted in them getting to take part in the Gym Battle while everyone at the gold stage got to join in at the Battle Club. Still, while I was watching them, I noticed Kun suddenly freeze up for a few seconds in between bites, so I asked him if everything was okay.

He assured me that he was fine before taking another bite of his food. If it had been something important/critical he would have told me, so I let it go and spread my attention again. Before long everyone had eaten their fill, so I left Utopia and leisurely made my way back to the Battle Club. I took my time since everyone had just eaten, and they needed at least 15 to 20 minutes before they could fight without feeling bloated.

Once I was at the Battle Club, I headed to the reception and signed up for battles again. Since it was the same lady from before she directly mentioned the priority part without me having to bring it up which was nice. I went to the waiting area after that, and it took roughly 6 minutes for me to be called up. Adding those to the 12ish minutes it took me to make it to the Battle Club had us at around 18 minutes, so Kimura/Hitmonform, who I was planning to open with, should have been good to go.

Nonetheless, I still took my time as I headed for battlefield no.4 to push us past the 20 minutes just in case. By the time I released Kimura onto the field, 22 minutes had passed since lunch, and going by Kimura's performance against Lord Steve's (high) gold Graveler, that was more than enough time for him to fight without any worries. He struggled against the (low) dark gold stage Dusknoir Lord Steve followed up with but that was because Dusknoir was a tricky opponent that took considerable effort to beat even with Foresight.

I was not surprised that Kimura ended up falling to the (low) dark gold stage Chimecho Steve sent out after Dusknoir. Not wanting to make things overly difficult, I went with Po/Pangoro next instead of Saphira/Altaria, and he took it down even if it took a while due to Chimecho's tendency to chain healing moves. Steve's final Pokemon was a (high) gold-stage Absol, and Po took that one down without any hiccups.

I was honestly not sure why Steve went for Absol since that was not a good match-up for them, but I did not bother asking and simply thanked him for the battle before making my way back to the waiting room for my next battle. I didn't have to wait long, and since Po had been good to go before, I opened up with him. The first Pokemon Lord Rick sent out was a (low) dark gold stage Weezing and Po did not have an easy time against it.

He still gave everything he got, though we switched to a more ranged style to avoid getting poisoned as much as possible. Convert assured that Po could pull that off without a problem, but Rick and his Weezing proved to be tricky opponents. They still managed to eventually poison Po, and once things were about to end, they chose to ignore everything to rush up to Po just to go out with a bang. Po obviously used Protect when we saw Weezing's suici*al rush, but the shield broke during the Explosion and he had to endure some more pain.

The (high) gold stage Muk that Rick followed up with capitalized on the poison as well as the damage left behind by Weezing, which allowed it to take Po down before he managed to take Muk down. I decided to send out AlphaBro/Slowbro to clean up that Muk, and due to the work Po had already put in, AlphaBro managed to finish the job pretty quickly. The (high) gold stage Manectric that followed was a lot more troublesome, but AlphaBro took that one down as well even if he had to endure some pain in the process.

That he also managed to take down Rick's (high) gold stage Breloom after that was an unexpected but pleasant result. Granted it was closer to a double knockdown since I could tell that AlphaBro was pretty much done as well. Yet, he was still standing when the referee called the match and declared me the victor, so no one had to know that. That ended up being the 8th victory of the day, leaving me with 4 more before I reached the 30-victory streak and qualified for the Duke Challenge. At the pace we were going, we would be able to finish the challenge today as well, which was very nice.

That said, opening the 9th battle was left to Saphira/Altaria, who was the only gold stage member left in both the main team and the reserve team that had yet to battle today. I did not know if it was because of that, or because it was finally time for us to get matched up against others close to advancing to Dukedom, but it took close to 10 minutes for me to get called up again, and Saphira's first foe ended up being a (mid) dark gold stage Blaziken.

It was a rather fortunate match-up for us and Saphira managed to take that fire chicken down, but that still made it the strongest Pokemon used by any of the Lords we faced today. Things did not stop there, and Saphira then had to face a (low) dark gold stage Lunatone after Blaziken. She managed to win that one as well, if barely, but at that point, she was definitely done. I did not plan to keep her out any longer but she insisted on staying in to face Zeki's third Pokemon, so I let her go down fighting if that was what she wanted.

Not that we got to see much fighting since she fell to Exploud's opening Boomburst. Still, having expected things to end quickly I did not hesitate to praise Saphira on her marvelous performance, which did not change just because she lost to a single move from Exploud. Besides, it appeared that I had finally gotten the high-stakes match-up I had been expecting. Exploud was Zeki's third dark gold stage Pokemon, and I suspected that his fourth one would be another dark one.

Yet, that did not change my plan to stick to the gold ones if possible, and since everyone already had their turn, I decided to let Melinda/Mienshao have another go since her previous one was shorter compared to some of the others. She was quite happy that she got to battle and she managed to take Exploud down even if it took quite a bit out of her. Zeki's final Pokemon ended up being another (low) dark gold stage one, a Tropius to be exact.

Melinda did her best to take Tropius down as well, but she was limited in her options once Tropius took off into the air and released a Sunny Day which doubled its speed. Her only reliable way to hurt Tropius was Aura Sphere, so she threw those out as much as possible, but eventually, she was the one who ended up falling to Tropius' attacks. With Melinda down, I decided to go with one of my fliers since every other choice would just unnecessarily complicate things because it was clear that Tropius was not planning to come down if it could avoid it.

I decided to go with Prime/Beedrill for the same reason I went with Melinda, and my giant hornet went after Tropius with vengeance. Tropius tried to drag things out by using Synthesis as often as it could but once the poison set in and got really going, even that was no longer able to stop Prime from dealing the final blow. Prime's victory tied up the battle with Zeki, and after thanking him for the challenge, I made my way back to the waiting area.

As I waited for my name to be called up, I could not help but wonder if my 10th opponent was going to be on the same level as Zeki. I got the chance to find out around 7 minutes later when my title finally resounded through the speakers, telling me to head to battlefield no.1. I greeted the referee and Lady Mia before waiting for the referee to give the signal while gripping Optimus/Butterfree's ForestBall. I had to blink when Lady Mia's first Pokemon ended up being a (low) dark gold stage Aggron since I had honestly not expected her to use an Aggron.

My visually biased thinking aside, her Aggron presented Optimus with quite a challenge since it negated his usual battle style. Thankfully Optimus had Tinted Lens which allowed him to actually put up a fight despite the very bad type match-up, though he had to be careful regardless since Aggron was still able to hurt him quite a bit. Optimus and Aggron ended up going at it for more than 10 minutes before Aggron finally slumped over, though, at that point, Optimus was so exhausted that he landed on Aggron to rest as soon as it fell.

It was obvious that I had to recall him, and he did not bother arguing, so I withdrew him after the referee declared Aggron unable to battle. I thought about who to send out next before deciding to go with Hades/Gengar. Hades ended up facing a fellow ghost, a (low) dark gold Banette to be specific, but my ghost showed that he was superior by taking Banette down, though he did get Cursed in the process. It was only that Curse that stopped him from taking down the (low) dark gold stage Jynx, but her psychic attacks on top of the Curse proved to be too much eventually.

Still, he warmed her up enough for Gwen/Gardevoir to finish Jynx quite smoothly. That only left Mia with her final Pokemon, which ended up being a (low) dark gold stage one as well. Gwen fought the Umbreon valiantly and she managed to hurt it quite a bit through Moonblasts and Dazzling Gleams, but she still ended up slowing down too much due to exhaustion before she managed to take Umbreon down, which ultimately allowed Umbreon to knock her out before she could do that to it.

She did a good job regardless, so I made sure to let her know that before I sent out Po/Pangoro to tie things up. Due to Gwen's prep work, it didn't take long for Po to knock Umbreon out, granting me my 10th victory of the day. I thanked Mia for the battle and went back to waiting, though as I did that I decided to open the next battle with Thor/Raichu since the last two opponents all used only dark gold stage Pokemon and my gold ones had fought enough.

So, I did just that. Once I got called up, I went to battlefield No. 3, and after greeting Lord Vingh, I waited for the referee to give the starting signal with Thor's ball in my hand. Obviously, this had to be the time for the staff to change things up, because what appeared across my (mid) dark gold stage Raichu was a (high) gold stage Ludicolo. Things did not get any better after that because even though Vingh's next Pokemon ended up being a Quagsire, it was at the (high) gold stage as well, so it fell to Thor pretty much just as quickly as the Ludicolo did.

The (high) gold Dusclops that followed held out for much longer, but that was only because they really milked Dusclops phasing ability as much as they could. Yet, even then it fell all the same. Vingh's final Pokemon ended up being a (low) dark gold stage Azumarill, and I kinda understood why he did not send it out earlier, but that did not stop Thor from shocking his fellow rodent to a crisp, earning me my 11th victory, leaving only a final one before I could start the Duke Challenge.
