Chapter 136: Legendary Beast Trio

~Third POV~

[Johto Region, Ecruteak City – Burned Tower]

After Azure had handled the Masked Man situation, he smiled as he could now continue his Journey in peace without having to save the two Regions. Now he had more time to train his Pokémon.

Azure headed as promised, returned to Ecruteak City with a purpose in mind, with Celebi fully exposing itself as it no longer feared being captured or attacked. Together, the trio with Pikachu on his shoulder and Eevee on top of his head went to the Bell Tower.

More specifically, the Burned Tower, as Azure asked curiously, rubbing his head, "This is the right place, right, Celebi?"

Celebi nodded its head as it pointed at the inside of the Burned Tower. According to legends passed down through the Generations for 150 years. Long ago, a great conflagration burned through it from the second floor up.

Once, two towers stood over Ecruteak, one in the east and one in the west. 150 years ago, a fire devastated one of them, hence the name the 'Burned Tower'. In those terrible flames, three nameless Pokémon perished… Suddenly, a rainbow colored Pokémon descended from the skies and revived the nameless Pokémon.

Azure knew the story as he read through it in his Arc Phone as they entered the Burned Tower. He gazed at the state as he couldn't help but comment, "This place has certainly seen some better days."

Celebi chuckled, hearing that, as it pointed Azure to a room. Within the room lies a stone in the center with some old nearby rubble.

Celebi flies around the stone, signaling to Azure of its importance. He nodded as he began to tap the stone…

*Zzzp*

Only to be partially phased through with a raised eyebrow, "Okay… this is new."

Pikachu and Eevee both clenched their paws onto Azure. Ready to defend him from any trouble as Celebi phases into the rock and Azure slowly follows behind…

[Crack in Time]

Upon entering, the rock revealed it to be a strange room surrounded by 3 giant ice mirrors. They soon end up in a strange room surrounded by three giant ice mirrors.

Observing the mirrors, Azure noticed the gazes of the Legendary Beast Trio as he ordered swiftly, "Good to have finally met you three. Suicune, Entei, and Raikou. Pikachu! Eevee! Iron Tail!"

*Wooosh*

*Shinng*

Both reacted to his command as their tails coated in sheet iron slashed the ice mirrors. In seconds, they shatter into pieces without warning, and three quadrupedal creatures appear before Azure.

The one in the middle uses telepathy to speak to Azure in a respectful tone, 'We thank you. You have broken our chains… and opened our exit to the world.'

Azure curtly nodded as the Beast Trio gazed upon Celebi, accompanying him, realizing how Azure had entered. But he spoke up calmly as he requested from them, "I'm glad to be of help. But can I ask a request, if you will hear us out?"

The Beast Trio looked at each other and nodded. Celebi, being the mediator, began to explain the events that occurred during their imprisonment regarding Pryce.

The Beast Trio bore conflicted expressions, hearing the story of Pryce and his actions using Ho-Oh for his personal goals. But given all that occurred and Celebi planning to punish Pryce by sending him to the Crack in Time for his purpose, the Beast Trio ultimately relented on their vengeance on the Masked Man.

Celebi leaned closer towards Suicune, placing a hand over its crystal head. Celebi allowed Suicune to see Azure's past as its eyes widened as it asked telepathically, 'What!! Are you positive Celebi…?'

Azure tilted his head, confused by Suicune's reaction, as he didn't understand their telepathic conversation. Celebi merely chuckled as it responded, 'Certainly! Ho-Oh would love to see my Master be the next Rainbow Hero, he does qualify, showing you his past, no?'

Suicune looked at Azure curiously as he was busy playing with his Pikachu and Eevee. It discussed this with its other beast, as Celebi chuckles, eyeing Entei's shadow.

*Shiii*

Celebi opened a portal to the outside as the Beast Trio bowed their heads to Azure in a thankful tone as Suicune said telepathically, 'Still, we Beast Trio, are thankful for your assistance, human. If you need anything from us, we'll return the favor.'

Azure smiled with his arms crossed as he said curiously what he wanted, "If that's the case… can you have Entei visit a friend of mine in Kanto. He needs Entei's rejuvenating fire to heal his arm. And curiously speaking, have you heard of the Pokémon called Marshadow?"

Upon speaking his name, the Beast Trio nodded, much to Azure's surprise. And it didn't take long for the Gloomdweller Pokémon to emerge from Entei's shadow as Suicune explained, 'Yes, we have. Marshadow is a guide from the shadows who leads those chosen by Ho-Oh to be the Rainbow Hero. He was with us to free our Master, but… as you can see how that went.'

Marshadow looked down equally as disappointed as Azure spoke up casually, "I suppose so… the Rainbow Hero, huh? Didn't think I heard that name here..."

Entei soon spoke up telepathically with Azure as it briefly nodded in a thankful tone, 'I suppose it's a thing of the past now. But as you requested, I'll help you use my fire to heal your friend. I simply need to know where his located.'

Azure smiled as he explained everything about where to locate Blaine. And told Entei to speak with him before surprising him.

With that, the unlikely group began to exit through the portal Celebi made, exiting out of the Crack in Time. Marshadow felt something as it stared at Azure, feeling it had the Rainbow Feather as it followed, seeing its aura around his GS Ball.

But it shook its head as it thought neutrally, arms crossed, 'No… first find Lord Ho-Oh. As its shadow, I must be in my Lord's Shadow first.'

[Johto Region, Ecruteak City – Burned Tower]

*Shhh*

Outside the Burned Tower, everything looked normal, when suddenly, people spotted three figures shoot out of the Burned Tower in a flash. It caused a small commotion as Raiko, Suicune, and Entei vanished searching for their Master, Ho-Oh, and to complete their promise to Azure.

Meanwhile, Azure escaped through the Burned Tower with Celebi, Pikachu, and Eevee in tow as he muttered, "Whew… close one. Didn't want too many people seeing me come out from that. And speaking about someone sneaking around…"

Azure turned his eyes on his shadow as he smirked, getting the sensation of someone occupying it. No sooner had the shadow split from his own as Marshadow vanished into the shadows, trailing behind the Beast Trio.

Shrugging his shoulders, seeing this Azure, completed his objective of informing and freeing the Sacred Beasts. Stretching his limbs, he spoke out excitedly, "Now with that out of the way… we can finally continue our Journey in peace. Speaking of which…"

Turning around, he smirked, stretching his limbs. Azure smirked as he said, "Welp! Time to get on the road again, guys! It would be useful to train up the other guys while we cross down Route 37. Let's go."

His Pokémon traveled behind him as they were excited to get moving again. Azure grinned as he couldn't wait for his next taste of adventure.

[Johto Region, Route 37 – 36]

Azure Sky adjusted his backpack, the Johto sun warm on his face. Pikachu chirped on his shoulder, while Eevee pranced excitedly at his heels. Celebi floated nearby, observing the scenery.

He felt the weight of his Poké Balls, each containing a trusted member of his team. Exiting Ecruteak City, they were on Route 37, heading towards Violet City. The rumors of Falkner's return as the gym leader fueled Azure's determination.

His core team, Pupitar, Misdreavus, Quagsire, Houndoom, Ampharos, and Skarmory, had already pushed ahead. This was a chance to train his reserves, Pokémon he knew had potential but needed the experience.

Sneasel stalked through the tall grass, Heracross flexed its powerful mandibles, and the massive Steelix left a trail of dust in its wake. Little Tyrogue bounced with boundless energy, mimicking Steelix's movements.

And then there was Gyarados, a magnificent, crimson beast, a recent addition from the turbulent waters of Lake of Rage. Its sheer power was undeniable, but controlling its destructive tendencies would be a challenge.

As they traversed Route 37, engaging in battles against Pidgeys and Bellsprouts, Azure observed his Pokémon carefully. He saw the way Steelix patiently guided Tyrogue with a nudge of its head, the fierce focus in Sneasel's eyes, and the barely contained energy radiating from Gyarados.

He was building a team, not just collecting creatures. Suddenly, Eevee stopped dead in its tracks, its ears twitching.

It let out a soft whine, pointing its nose towards a thicket of trees. Azure followed its gaze. Nestled amongst the leaves, a small, brown Pokémon with a crescent moon mark on its forehead was munching on berries. A Teddiursa.

Azure's heart skipped a beat. He hadn't considered catching a Normal-type Pokémon, but the thought of evolving it into the powerful Ursaluna was incredibly tempting.

Plus, he felt a connection, a pull towards this Teddiursa. He needed a balanced team, and a strong Normal-type would be an asset. Azure said, his voice low, "Alright, team. Let's try to catch it. Sneasel, you're up."

Sneasel hissed, a glint in its eyes. It appreciated the chance to prove itself after Azure saved it from the Couple.

*Wooosh*

With a burst of speed, it launched itself towards the Teddiursa, claws extended. The Teddiursa, startled, dropped its berries and stumbled back.

Seeing Teddiursa's claws glow, Azure commanded, using his Pokedex to remember the Pokémon's possible skills, "Teddiursa, using Fury Swipes! Sneasel use Quick Attack to counter!"

Teddiursa roared, its small claws flashing as it swiped at Sneasel. Sneasel nimbly dodged the attack, retaliating with a Quick Attack.

*SLAM*

It slammed into Teddiursa, sending it tumbling to the ground. Azure held his breath.

He didn't want to hurt the Teddiursa, just weaken it enough to catch it. Azure instructed, "Sneasel, Icy Wind, but hold back!"

*Wooosh*

Sneasel hesitated for a moment, then unleashed a small ice wind, releasing shards of ice. It clipped Teddiursa's arm, causing it to cry out in pain, "Teddyyy!"

Azure winced. He felt a pang of guilt, but he knew he had to continue. He reached for a Poké Ball as he said, "Alright, Teddiursa, this is your last chance!"

Teddiursa, now visibly frightened, tried to flee, but Sneasel cut it off. The bear cub looked up at Azure, its eyes wide with fear.

He saw a glimmer of defiance in its gaze. Azure took a deep breath.

He understood its fear, its reluctance to be confined. But he said softly in a shameless voice, "I promise, Teddiursa, I'll take good care of you. You'll be part of a team, a family. You'll never be alone…"

*Bonk*

He hurled the Poké Ball. It struck Teddiursa square in the chest, and the Pokémon was enveloped in a red light and sucked inside. The ball landed on the ground, wobbling once, twice, three times... then clicked.

*BON*

Azure held his breath, his heart pounding. He slowly picked up the Poké Ball, a sense of relief washing over him.

He had done it. He had caught the Teddiursa. He stared at the Poké Ball in his hand, imagining the little bear cub inside.

He knew he had a responsibility to train it, to guide it, to help it reach its full potential. He checked Teddiursa's info.

[Teddiursa the Little Bear Pokémon. Teddiursa is almost always seen licking its forepaws, which are soaked in honey—every Teddiursa has a different flavor on its paws. When it feels nervous, it will lick its paws to calm itself down. The marking on its face can glow when it finds honey.

While Teddiursa can make its honey by blending pollen collected by Beedrill with fruits, it is also known to steal honey from Combee nests, which it finds by stealthily following the Combee. Teddiursa lives in mountainous forests, where it hides food throughout its territory before food becomes scarce in winter.]

Azure blinked, somewhat surprised and mixed about Teddiursa's move pool. He released Teddiursa from its Poké Ball.

*Pop*

The Teddiursa looked around, its eyes widening as it took in its new surroundings. It saw Sneasel, who gave a curt nod of acknowledgment, then looked up at Azure.

Azure knelt, extending his hand. He said calmly, a genuine smile spreading across his face, "Welcome to the team, Teddiursa. I'm Azure, and we're going to have some amazing adventures together."

*Shiii*

Activating his Viridian Force, he hoped to calm down the wild Teddiursa and heal it in the process. Teddiursa hesitated for a moment, then slowly padded towards Azure and nuzzled its head against his hand.

Azure smiled. He knew, deep down, that he had made the right decision. This Teddiursa, this nervous, resilient little bear, was going to be something special.

He knew that this Pokémon would become a valuable member of his team and a cherished companion on his journey through Johto. Violet City and Falkner awaited, but for now, Azure focused on building trust and forging a bond with his newest friend.

A/N: I took some creative liberties of taking the movie I Choose You! Rainbow Hero is adding Marshadow into the mix with the Beast Trio. It wasn't used much and added Marshadow to Ho-Oh as they're wasn't much lore explained.
