Temporarily "released" to escape the organization, it chose to follow Sato willingly. With help from the Ecruteak City Gym Leader and the Sage, it achieved perfect evolution, its eyes turning golden. Gengar is now a quiet soul.

With its fearsome appearance and "adorable" personality, it often competes for Sato's affection with Houndoom.
