After charging into the forest, the pursuers became noticeably calmer.
Those who had reached their current level of strength had typically been traveling for nearly a year, accumulating substantial experience. Naturally, they understood that forests were prime locations for ambushes.
Especially considering the enemy's Machamp, which was extraordinarily fast and perfectly suited for surprise attacks, caution was paramount.
Influenced by the tense atmosphere, most began to search the forest with heightened vigilance. However, a few exceptions remained. These individuals believed that with such overwhelming numbers on their side, Ron wouldn't dare to counterattack. On the contrary, they thought that if they continued searching so sluggishly, their target would have long disappeared.
Watching the impatient ones rush ahead, the more cautious pursuers couldn't help but smirk.
With these brash individuals acting as a vanguard, they could quicken their pace without worrying about ambushes.
Ron, meanwhile, maintained a consistent direction deeper into the forest. He refrained from retaliating immediately for two reasons.
First, he wanted to wear down their patience, making his next moves easier.
Second, the area near the forest edge was still too close to the outside. Ron's goal was to ensure none of them left alive, so he couldn't afford to let them escape.
Most importantly, when Ron struck, he needed to ensure complete secrecy. He couldn't risk leaving photographic or video evidence behind.
As a League-affiliated Trainer, the expected response to such a situation would have been to request League assistance immediately. That was precisely what the Silph Co. employees had assumed Ron would do.
Of course, if Ron chose to act personally, the League wouldn't object either.
The League, while representing justice, was far from naive.
To combat the ruthless Team Rocket, Pokémon hunters, and other criminals, League Trainers needed to be capable of killing when necessary.
As for these individuals pursuing Ron, the League's only requirement was that Ron left no direct evidence tying himself to their deaths.
In other words, as long as Ron didn't show his face, even if his Pokémon were responsible, there wouldn't be any issues. With so many similar Pokémon species existing, who could definitively prove they belonged to Ron? As long as he vehemently denied involvement, he would remain in the clear.
The reverse was true as well. So long as non-League-affiliated Trainers ensured the League never discovered their actions, they wouldn't face relentless pursuit either.
The League offered its Trainers ample protection; the rest was up to their own abilities.
"This place is secluded enough. It's time to make my move."
Reaching a secluded corner of the forest, Ron began restoring Machamp and the others' stamina, preparing for the upcoming battle.
Ron was well aware of the League's approach to training its Trainers. That was precisely why he had so openly drawn such a large group here.
If Ron could eliminate all of them in this forest, though it wouldn't earn him official recognition, it would significantly smooth his path forward.
As for these fools blinded by greed, daring to attack a League Trainer without understanding their own limitations, they were unworthy of the League's attention. Even if they survived this ordeal, they might eventually betray the League for profit. Better to let Ron clean up early.
Following Ron's instructions, Machamp and the others began their operation.
Persian led the charge. For Persian , the forest was the perfect battleground.
Bellossom thrived in such environments too. The dense Grass-type energy in the forest greatly enhanced its moves' power.
Machamp, on the other hand, preferred open spaces for his powerful and straightforward fighting style, even though he had mastered techniques like Shave (Soru).
The division of roles was simple: Persian and Bellossom would hunt freely, while Machamp stayed near Ron. Ralts followed closely, while Nidorino, due to his limited strength, remained sidelined for now.
Ralts' psychic abilities allowed it to detect surrounding movements, including Machamp's, and relay Ron's commands through telepathy.
If danger arose, Ralts would use Teleport to immediately bring Ron to Machamp's side.
Everything was ready, and now they waited for the pursuers to arrive, at which point Machamp and the others would strike.
Hidden among the treetops, Persian kept a watchful eye on the forest perimeter. Before long, a lone figure entered its field of vision.
Purugly didn't attack immediately, instead allowing the individual to pass by to further wear down the patience of those behind.
After silently counting the increasingly sparse passersby, Persian decided to act once only a few scattered individuals remained.
Lowering its body into an attacking stance, Persian suddenly leapt out.
It unleashed Hypnosis in tandem with Fake Out. The moment Persian attacked, Bellossom, hidden nearby, also made her move, casting Magical Leaf.
Scarlet blood splattered as a Trainer and their Pokémon fell into a pool of blood.
Under Bellossom's precise control, the swirling Magical Leaf snatched up the fallen Trainer's Poké Balls and backpack.
If Persian's attack had failed, Bellossom's attack would have merely incapacitated. Otherwise, she would claim the spoils for Ron, as she did now.
Carrying the backpack, Bellossom regrouped with Persian to prepare for the next ambush.
Meanwhile, the leading group of pursuers scoured the forest, carefully observing for traces of Ron.
Their travels had granted them enough tracking experience to recognize faint signs, though they couldn't compare to professional trackers.
However, with Ralts erasing traces using Teleport, the pursuers were left blindly wandering the forest like headless flies.
With Ralts by his side, Ron and Machamp navigated the forest with a strategic advantage, almost as if they had a map hack. While there were range limitations, it was more than enough to ensure their dominance.
As the pursuers' morale peaked, Ron allowed Bellossom and Persian to attack freely.
Only when their patience and morale had been sufficiently drained would Ron strike with full force.
Through Ralts' insights into their movements, Ron couldn't help but feel as though he had these people entirely under his control. It gave him a newfound understanding of why Sabrina had grown so cold and detached.
As a powerful psychic, Sabrina truly wielded godlike abilities in some respects. Particularly when manipulating others with psychic power, the sensation was almost intoxicating, tempting one toward corruption.
Realizing this, Ron resolved to show Ralts more affection and care, ensuring it wouldn't lose its current innocence as it grew.
By the time the first group lost track of Ron, the second wave of pursuers had arrived, discovering a third corpse along the way.
Confronted with the gruesome scene, their enthusiasm visibly waned.
Despite their hesitation, they decided to press on.
For these resource-starved individuals, Ron represented a massive haul. Besides, these deaths weren't necessarily Ron's doing. What if it was infighting among the first group?
Clinging to such faint hopes, the pursuers continued forward, albeit with much greater caution.
