Chapter 885: The Tower
Axel came forward and said, "We have made some preliminary plans to deal with this issue. We will be protecting the south side.
Since the south side will face the most significant numbers of Pokemons, we would appreciate it if you could help us."
"What kind of help do you need? I believe that a man crowned as a first knight, like yourself, would be equally more powerful and have the resources to deal with your problem yourself. Or was I wrong?", said Gary.
Meanwhile, the Mayor added, "Mr. Axel, you were appointed to defend the south side because we believed you could do it. If you need outside assistance, how can we be confident you can protect my town?
I was hoping that we would be asking you for help. Not the other way around."
"Yes, you are right. I have been appointed as the first knight, and yes, I am responsible for protecting your town, but that also means that I will have the authority to do things my way."
The mayor came forward to reply, but Axel cut him off with his hand raised, "But why do I hear that when my team asked your permission to set traps for the tide battle, you refused?
If you are a tide battle specialist, protect the town by yourself. I don't have any responsibility to defend your town if you tamper with how I do things. If you have any problems with my ways, talk to Prince Kymar. I have already spoken with him.
And listen to me very carefully…"
Saying this, he stood up, his voice rising with every word. Axel knew the people like this. They never wanted to protect the town for the people; they were just there for profit.
"There are some things that I must depend on you for, like the information about Pokemons that I will be dealing with, their number and ranks, and the tide battle's grade. If you try to play politics here, delay the information, or give me wrong information, and something happens to my team,
Then, by the grace of Arceus, just pray that your end will be short because I am a vengeful person.
I am the first knight of the Kanto region, and I don't think you are giving me the respect that the first knight deserves. Do remember, Mr. Gaurav, your actions will have consequences."
After saying this, Axel started to move to the door while Hector and Krishna followed him. Hector had his chest forward. He was impressed with how Axel handled things. He was firm and short.
###
When they reached their base, Axel said to Krishna, "I don't believe a thing that this mayor would say. I cannot trust him and risk the lives of my team members. So, do the investigation of the tide rank and tide battle by yourself. You have the equipment that Mark created.
We can use it. I just want to know how long it would take?", asked Axel.
"Sir, thorough investigations would take a couple of weeks. We do have a teleportation team to do it swiftly, but that would also take some time because they are not experienced in tracking.
We have only trained for war.", said Krishna
"Kirshna, remind me to set up a tracking team in the training session after this tide battle.", said Axel, mentally cursing himself for being so stupid.
Because he believed that the tide battle would be straightforward. The wild Pokemons would come to attack them, and they could defend, but in real life, there were a lot of things that could go wrong.
Axel knew that he was quite good at defending a city. He had quite a good experience and a good team, but he was only good at winning battles. If he wants to win the war, then he needs something more.
Well, it was not the time to even think about such things. He needed to defend Lavender Town for his reputation.
"Tell the commander to attend the meeting in 20 minutes."
###
"The first thing I want to know is the area that we are defending. The city is not so big on the south side, but connected to the forest. So, let's clear some trees just outside the border, so that we can have plenty of area to fight the tide battle.", said Axel.
"Yes, sir. The border is not as large as our previous tide battles. Our members could defend and cover the place. But since the town had never faced a tide battle in 100s of years, the forest is quite close to the border.
Fighting a wild Pokemon inside the deep forest would be suicide. We need to clear some part of the forest and set some traps.", suggested Jin.
"Yes, we will start it tomorrow. We don't have much time. So, complete the traps, clear the battle area, and do it in a week. I know the time is not on our side, but we must do it."
Most of the time, he defended a city, not a town. The city has some city guards who clear the forest area if it gets too dense. They also clear a certain part of the forest of wild Pokemons up to 5 or 10 km so that the wild Pokemons would not disturb the city.
But since Lavender was a town and it had that haunted tower, most of the wild Pokemons never interfered with the town. It looked like even the wild Pokemons were afraid of that haunted tower.
The mayor was not competent, and the guards were also lazy, so most things have been left unchecked.
One of the things that was in his favor was his team. Before, Axel had to collaborate with another team to fight the tide battle. This time, he didn't need to do such a thing. So, now he could control a lot of things by himself.
"We also need to set up barriers. Use ground-type and rock-type Pokemons to create some strategic points from where we can defend.", said Axel.
This was one of the reasons why Axel was angry with the Mayor. Nothing had been done to prepare the town for the tide battle. They had to clear a part of the forest and create strategic points for defense.
###
A lot was discussed and decided. The team was competent in handling these types of situations, as they were experienced with them.
"The tide battle is not only for defending the city and proving ourselves, but also for training our new and inexperienced Pokémon. So, looking at the pressure of the tide, let your members train their Pokemons too in a tide battle.
Mistakes might happen, and we might lose some Pokemons, but this is how it should be done."
Axel was also going to send out his new Pokemons to the tide battle. He had done this before, too. They needed a good amount of experience in the tide battle for the future.

The next day, Chapter source: My Virtual Library Empire (M|V|L4EMPYR).
Axel wanted to see the haunted tower first, to learn what was so special about it, and to analyze whether he needed to send troops to handle it.
So, he woke up early, did his morning duties, and then got ready to go.
He had Aron on his shoulders, Koffing levitating,, and Pawniard on his side. If one were to see these four, they would be surprised and want to know the trainer's identity.
Because Aron was a very heavy Pokemon, its hidden ability had just been activated, and its weight had increased to 150 kgs. That was a lot of weight to put on one's shoulders, but Axel did it without any issue.
The duration of evolution for Aron had been extended as he wanted Aron to be truly prepared before its evolution. Most of his savings were going on its food. It would consume previous resources selected by Steven. Axel had to pay a lot for that.
But Axel believed that when it evolved fully and reached king rank, it would be his team's best defense, so he spent a lot of money on it.
Axel covered his face with a mask because he didn't want to be recognized. But the Pokemons he was carrying with him were unique, and it naturally attracted attention.
His reason for having those three with him was to spend quality time with them to increase intimacy.
Finally, he reached the haunted tower. The place was a tourist site and he had to pay some money to get inside.
The tower was big. It was a massive building with at least 15 floors, and was the longest and biggest in the entire town.
"There must be some sort of a history of this tower.", mumbled Axel.
"Of course, there is, but the history has not been kept well, and they have lost all the records. At least that is what they tell us. But we don't know what this tower signifies."
Axel turned around to see the owner of the voice and it was the same girl he met at the plane, Emma.
"Emma!! I didn't know that you were here."
"I came here to investigate the tower. Of course, I will be here.", said Emma with a smile.
"Why don't we go to the tower together?", offered Axel.
"Well, I have been here at least twice since yesterday, but yes, why not. I will love to go there with you. I want to know your thoughts.", said Emma, looking at the tower.
Axel walked forward, and when he entered the tower, he felt an aura of death surrounding him. He felt some sort of suppression from the tower.
What was it? When he looked at the tower from the outside, it seemed to be a beautiful building that had been preserved well from ancient times. The designs were different and interesting, but when he entered the tower, the place felt entirely different.
It felt gloomy, dark, and suppressing.
Emma noticed Axel's expression and asked, "What happened? Are you okay?"
"Yes, I am fine. Let's go. Show me the tower."
She didn't speak much, but she could tell that the tower had some sort of impact on Axel.
Axel could feel all this because his aura sense level was quite high, and he could detect some minute things too. Normal people and even normal trainers could not notice those things.
"The tower has 15 floors, but only 10 are open to public access. The timing of the tower visit is only on Tuesday and Saturday, but we are quite lucky.
The town has an annual function, and at that time, the tower is open for seven days straight for the public," said Emma.
Emma seemed to know a lot about this tower.
"I learned it from various books. There are some unusual places in our Kanto region, and this tower is one of them.", said Emma.
As they went forward, Axel felt even more suppressed and a dark feeling as if some energy challenged his soul.
This feeling became even more consistent as they moved up the tower. The tower was simple but elegant in its own right.
This place was a graveyard for a lot of Pokemons. The ground and the first floor were for baby Pokemons and common rank Pokemons, and as they went up, the rank of the Pokemons increased.
The remains of the Pokemons were put underground on these floors with a memorial.
"Just look at the history of this tower. In every grave, there is a statement and the identity of the Pokemon and sometimes you will even find something about their trainers too.", said Emma in an excited voice.
Axel found out that there were Pokemon graves from 1000s of years ago. Some of them were even from ancient times, and the priest of the tower well protected these graves.
Yes, the tower had multiple priests to control the dark energy of the tower.
