"Creating smoke and trying to use Swift to attack? No use—Elekid, use Protect!" 

Gary watched as Swift shots flew out from the smoke, and with his command, Elekid raised his hands. A green protective shield shimmered around his body.

*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Swift kept pelting the shield, each star hitting like raindrops and causing small explosions, but none could penetrate Elekid's Protect.

"Ash, it's pointless. Unless you can find a way to break through Protect, you'll never be able to hurt Elekid," Gary said confidently as he looked across the field.

"Then I'll break it and show you, Gary!" Ash replied, staring at the thick smoke on the battlefield.

Gary frowned slightly but kept his focus. Smoke billowed around the field, and Elekid, wary of Eevee using Swift again from within the haze, held his Protect in place, waiting for the smoke to clear.

Gradually, the smoke thinned, and all eyes turned back to the battlefield. Elekid was still shielded by Protect, but Eevee was nowhere in sight.

"Where did it go...?" Gary looked surprised, glancing around as a sudden realization dawned on him.

"Not good! Elekid, watch out—!" Gary began to shout a warning, but it was too late.

*Boom!*

The ground beneath Elekid cracked as Eevee erupted from below, crashing into Elekid. The surprise Ground-based move hit Elekid hard, shattering the Protect shield and forcing him back.

"What?!"

Everyone gasped in shock, even the figure watching from the shadows showing a glint of interest.

Ash grinned at the sight. No matter how smart or composed Gary was, Ash's experience was paying off.

"Sure, Gary, you may be the Pokémon Professor's grandson and know a lot, but I've picked up some tricks from watching battles—like one I saw in a neighboring village. Unless your Protect can cover the ground, it has a weak spot!"

"Elekid, use Thunder Wave!" Gary called out. Despite the setback, he quickly issued a command. Elekid's plug-like horns crackled, emitting an electric wave.

*Zzt!*

The wave of electricity hit Eevee squarely, catching him off guard. Eevee stumbled from the shock as arcs of electricity danced around his body. While Thunder Wave didn't cause direct damage, it left Eevee paralyzed, hindering his speed and movements.

"Elekid, use Thunder Punch!"

Seizing the opportunity, Gary issued the next order instantly. Elekid charged forward, lightning gathering around his fists, energy crackling as he aimed a powerful blow toward Eevee.

"Dodge it, Eevee!" Ash shouted urgently.

*Zzzttt!*

An electric arc flickered over Eevee's body. Eevee wanted to dodge, but paralysis held him still for a crucial moment.

*Boom!*

Elekid's electrified fist struck Eevee, enveloping him in a burst of electricity. Eevee was thrown back, tumbling across the ground until he came to a stop, still sparking with residual energy, unable to stand.

"Eevee is unable to battle. Elekid wins!" Brock announced, raising his hand to signal the match's result.

"I didn't expect Elekid to fight back after being hit by Dig. That Elekid's tough!" Misty remarked, frowning as she looked at the field. Elekid stood there with a smug grin on his face.

"Thanks for your hard work, Eevee. Take a good rest now," Ash said gently, recalling Eevee into his Poké Ball.

"Pikachu, you're up!" Ash looked down at Pikachu.

"Pika!" 

Pikachu perked up and ran confidently into the arena, taking position in front of Elekid.

"So, you're finally sending out your Pikachu. Show me the bond between you two!" Gary said, intrigued. He knew Pikachu was Ash's first Pokémon and had heard stories of their loyalty to each other. He was curious to see the depth of their teamwork.

"Trust me, you won't be disappointed," Ash replied confidently.

"Pikachu, Quick Attack!" Ash called out without hesitation.

"Pika-pika-chu!"

At Ash's command, Pikachu bolted forward in a flash of silver light, his speed suddenly spiking. Elekid was fast, but Pikachu was even quicker, catching Gary by surprise.

"Incredible speed! Elekid, use Protect!"

Though surprised, Gary responded quickly. Elekid's eyes narrowed, and he raised his hands, activating Protect just in time.

*Boom!*

Pikachu struck the shield and was instantly repelled by the protective barrier, bouncing back from the impact.

"Elekid, use Thunder Punch!" Gary commanded, taking advantage of Pikachu's momentary vulnerability. Elekid rushed forward, his arm sparking with electricity.

"Pikachu, Iron Tail!"

*Clang!*

Ash's voice rang out, and Pikachu's tail hardened and shimmered like metal, meeting Elekid's Thunder Punch head-on. The two attacks collided with a powerful clash, sending shockwaves across the battlefield as energy pulsed outward.
