Playing As Gojo Satoru in Naruto

Chapter 93: Chapter 93

Time flew by. It was now the 60th year of Konohagakure, in the Land of Fire.

The classroom was nearly empty—only three students were left.

"So slow… All the other teachers have already picked up their students. Only we're still here," said Haruno Sakura, leaning against a desk with a sigh.

Naruto was standing on a chair, using it to wedge the blackboard eraser above the sliding door.

"Isn't that a little too much…?" Sakura looked up at the eraser with hesitation. She kind of wanted to do it too, but usually tried to act like a good student.

"It's fine. He's the one who's late anyway."

Naruto squinted and jumped down from the chair, kicking it aside casually.

He sat down on a nearby desk, hands resting behind him.

"No way a jonin would fall for such a lame trick…"

Sasuke lowered his head slightly, expressionless, and looked at the prank with clear disdain.

Just as the words left his mouth, the sliding door opened with a loud whoosh. All three of them turned to look.

*Thud.*

The blackboard eraser landed squarely on the head of the jonin walking in. Chalk dust scattered, though it wasn't that obvious on his white hair.

Most of his face was covered by a mask, and even one of his eyes was hidden behind a slanted forehead protector.

"Hey! Doesn't this guy look kind of like Satoru-nii?"

Naruto blinked and whispered to Sasuke beside him.

Same hair color, same hidden face—the vibe between the two of them was strangely similar.

But come on, their reflexes were way too different.

Getting hit by a blackboard eraser? Is this guy really a jonin…?

Sasuke blinked a few times and raised an eyebrow.

Kakashi casually tossed the eraser back onto the desk and rubbed his chin, looking thoughtfully at the three kids in front of him.

"Hmm… how should I put this? My first impression of you guys?"

"…Kind of annoying."

Getting told off by a teacher the moment they met didn't feel like a great start.

Before the three of them could even respond, Kakashi tilted his head slightly.

"Well, no point standing around here. Let's head up to the roof~."

As soon as he finished speaking, he disappeared in a blink.

The three kids quickly jumped up and ran outside, but Kakashi was already nowhere to be seen.

On the rooftop of the ninja academy—

"Alright, let's start with some self-introductions. You all know each other, but I don't really know you yet."

"Just the basics—what you like, what you hate, your dreams for the future, hobbies. That kind of stuff."

Kakashi sat on the railing, gesturing casually toward the three kids.

He already knew their names and backgrounds, but things like personality and interests don't show up on a list.

"Uh, um… I think it'd be better if you went first, sensei!"

Ever since noticing how much Kakashi resembled Hatake Satoru, Naruto had gotten really curious about their new teacher.

"Me? I'm Hatake Kakashi. I don't feel like telling you what I like or hate."

"As for dreams… nothing in particular. And hobbies? I've got lots."

Kakashi spoke with a lazy voice, eyes dull like a dead fish.

"We just sat through all that and still learned nothing…"

This guy really is a master at saying a lot of nothing—

besides his name, there wasn't a single useful detail.

Haruno Sakura couldn't help but complain from the side.

"Oh right, I do have an older brother,

but he's been out of touch for a few years now."

"Besides the money he sends back for living expenses,

we haven't heard anything else from him."

Kakashi shrugged at the three of them. That was pretty much all the info he had.

"Huh?! If he's been missing for that long… could your brother be Satoru?!"

The moment Naruto heard the key word, he perked up and looked at Kakashi, full of excitement.

"Yeah… looks like that guy knows a lot of people."

Kakashi had already heard Naruto mention something like that in class,

so he had a feeling the kid might've actually met his big brother.

Though at the time, things were a bit awkward between him and Hatake Satoru,

so he didn't know how the others were connected to him.

Well, in the end, it wasn't that big of a deal.

"So that guy's little brother, huh…"

Even Sasuke, who always tried to act all serious, had a spark in his eyes—

he'd clearly heard a familiar name.

"Wait… you all knew our teacher before this?"

Haruno Sakura suddenly felt like she was being left out and looked around, a bit confused.

"Nope!"

Naruto and Sasuke replied at the same time.

"Ah, whatever. It doesn't really matter.

Now it's your turn to introduce yourselves. Let's start with you."

Kakashi casually pointed at Naruto.

Naruto's hobbies all seemed to revolve around ramen—

like ramen was the center of a circle and everything else was just spinning around it.

"As for my dream! I'm gonna surpass the Hokage and be someone everyone looks up to!"

Kakashi's eye twitched a little.

A kid obsessed with ramen… but his dream was to go beyond the Hokage?

This kid's path in life sounded kinda interesting.

"Next."

Haruno Sakura's interests all centered around Sasuke.

She made a point of saying she disliked Naruto, but other than that, there wasn't much worth noting.

Kakashi rested his face in his hand, glancing at the two of them without much surprise.

Well, in a way, they both had a clear focus at the center of their lives.

"Girls this age always think love matters more than ninjutsu, huh."

"How about you?"

Kakashi looked toward Sasuke, who sat in the middle with that usual serious look.

He remembered Sasuke was the only survivor of the Uchiha clan,

ever since Itachi wiped out the whole family.

"I'm Uchiha Sasuke.

There are lots of things I hate, but not many I like."

"My dream isn't just a dream—

it's something I'm going to make real."

"I'm going to bring back the name of my clan… and I'll kill a certain man with my own hands."

As Sasuke spoke, his eyes sharpened, and in his mind,

he pictured Danzo's old face.

That was the guy who pushed the clan out,

and forced his brother to become a rogue ninja.

Kakashi suddenly thought of a younger comrade from the Anbu—Uchiha Itachi.

It wasn't strange that the only surviving brother wanted to kill the one who wiped out the clan.

Naruto didn't really get all the details about who-was-who,

but his face darkened a bit and he shuffled away from Sasuke.

Sure, he bothered Sasuke all the time,

but the guy wouldn't actually try to kill him… right?

Each of them was guessing who Sasuke wanted to kill,

and got a little tense.

Kakashi clapped his hands and stood up from the railing.

"Not bad. All three of you have strong personalities—very interesting."

"Alright then, you'll head to the training field soon for your first task: survival training."

"It may be called 'training,' but it's actually a super hard test with a 66% fail rate."

"Out of 26 graduates, only 9 will become Genin. The rest will be sent back to the academy."

Looking at the three kids whose faces suddenly went pale, Kakashi, for the first time, felt the joy of scaring kids.

So this is the fun of being a teacher?

"Well then, go get ready."

"Be at the training field at eleven. Bring a full set of ninja tools. I'll be judging if you pass."
