Phoenix Power: The True Colors of the Empress

Chapter 42. Form of punishment.

Letting Wu’er stay by herself could indeed be a way to keep her safe.

Wu’er had lived in solitude for twelve years. Her sudden reentry into the human world left her confused about many of its norms, which led to her causing quite a stir.

Xiao Heng’s perspective might actually offer Wu’er protection. More importantly, it could help her escape her current predicament.

Before Elder Ming Zhe left the Lishan Sword Sect, he had entrusted Wu’er to Xiao Heng, asking him to look after her.

However, despite Xiao Heng’s efforts over the past six months, Wu’er remained distant and indifferent towards him.

Wu’er had never been warm or cold towards him; in fact, she somewhat resisted him. Xiao Heng wanted to change this, but he hadn’t succeeded.

Because of this, Luo Yue had a different view of their relationship. Xiao Heng knew that Luo Yue’s conflict with Wu’er today was undoubtedly because of him.

Xiao Heng didn’t want to offend Luo Yue over Wu’er. Even though he had a good impression of Wu’er, she was just an ordinary girl.

Luo Yue, on the other hand, was the Sect Master’s daughter, with an exceptionally noble status. If Xiao Heng aspired to become the Sect Master of the Lishan Sword Sect, Luo Yue’s support would be invaluable.

Xiao Heng also understood Luo Yue’s feelings for him. Protecting Wu’er and losing Luo Yue’s affection would be a significant setback for him.

Luo Yue was still unwilling to forgive him. Wu’er had bitten her, and her back was scratched. Despite applying medicine, she remained bedridden, vowing revenge against Wu’er.

Luo Yue had thrown everything in the room to the floor, creating a complete mess. The bed curtains were shredded to pieces.

Having been spoiled since childhood, Luo Yue had never faced such humiliation. To be reduced to this state by a wild girl was unbearable.

Her reputation within the Lishan Sword Sect had plummeted, leaving her too ashamed to face anyone.

Previously, Luo Yue had relied on her status to act tyrannically, disregarding others. Now, she knew they were all laughing at her.

“Young Miss, who would have thought that wild girl would be so vicious? She did such a cruel thing to you. I’m useless!”

Xiao Lian, also wounded, knelt beside Luo Yue’s bed, crying and complaining about her own pain.

“I’ll make her pay in blood. That wild girl won’t get away with this!” Luo Yue shouted, still agitated.

“Miss, we have plenty of time. Once you’ve healed, we can plan our revenge. We’ll find the right moment to make her pay for today,” Xiao Lian said, kneeling beside Luo Yue and gently applying medicine to her wounds, trying to soothe her.

“What else can we do? We were about to expel her from the sect, but why did someone suddenly defend her? Are we just supposed to forget the injuries we suffered?”

Luo Yue was still furious. Reflecting on the day’s events, if not for Cang Ling Ye’s unexpected intervention, Wu’er would have been expelled!

“That person seems to have a noble identity. Even the sect master called him ‘your highness.’ That’s why the sect master spared that wild girl. But don’t worry, Young Miss, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.”

Xiao Lian recalled the person who had stepped in and tried to comfort Luo Yue.

“It’s bad enough that we don’t know this person. But even senior brother Xiao Heng spoke up for that wild girl. Did you hear that? I’m injured, and he still defends her. I’ve treated him so well in the past!”

Luo Yue remembered Xiao Heng’s support for Wu’er. Though it wasn’t much, it made her uncomfortable.

“Young Miss, when Elder Ming Zhe left the Lishan Sword Sect, he entrusted Wu’er to Senior Brother Xiao Heng. Senior Brother Xiao Heng spoke up for Wu’er because of Elder Ming Zhe. If something happened to Wu’er, he wouldn’t be able to explain it to Elder Ming Zhe.”

Xiao Lian tried to provide a reasonable explanation to calm Luo Yue, hoping to avoid further punishment from Luo Yue and the sect master.

After dealing with other matters, the sect master hurried back, concerned about Luo Yue’s situation.

“How is it? What did the doctor say? Is it serious?”

The sect master walked in. Seeing the chaotic state of the room, he realized Luo Yue’s body was fine; it was her mood that needed attention.

“The doctor said it’s fine, but it might leave a scar. Father, why didn’t you severely punish that wild girl?” Luo Yue cried out as soon as she saw her father.

“It’s good that you’re fine. I’ll have the doctor prescribe the best medicine to prevent scarring. But you need to learn from this. In the future, don’t cause trouble like this!”

The sect master understood the situation. Luo Yue had likely provoked Wu’er, leading to the bite.

“Father, I’m already injured, and you’re still defending that wild girl? Don’t you feel sorry for me?”

Luo Yue felt wronged and stared at her father with teary eyes.

“I can protect you for a while, but not forever. You’re old enough to be more sensible. Let this go and don’t be so willful in the future.”

The sect master knew Luo Yue was at fault but used this opportunity to teach her a lesson.

“Are we really going to let that wild girl go?” Luo Yue pointed towards Wu’er’s direction, her eyes glinting with anger.

“I’ve arranged for her to go to the library. You won’t see her again, and she won’t be with Xiao Heng. Don’t worry.”

The sect master hoped this punishment would satisfy Luo Yue and keep Xiao Heng by her side.

“Since it’s like this, I’ll let her off for now. But if she does something excessive again, I definitely won’t be so lenient!”

Luo Yue thought it over. With Wu’er no longer bothering Xiao Heng, it was best to let this matter rest.
