Chapter 13: Chapter ~ I Will Break You
The sound of heavy footsteps echoed down the corridor, each step a cruel reminder of what awaited Nofri-it. His heart pounded in his chest, the frantic rhythm matching the quickening pace of his thoughts. His fingers clenched around the fabric of his tunic, but his resolve held firm. There was no turning back now.
Senek's eyes widened, panic flickering across his face. "He's here. We need to hurry," he whispered, his voice trembling with fear. But Nofri-it could already hear the heavy thud of the Pharaoh's boots growing nearer.
The palace seemed to close in on him, the walls suffocating, the air thick with the weight of impending doom. He shot a glance toward Senek, whose face was pale, and nodded once. There was no time for hesitation.
They broke into a run.
The sound of the Pharaoh's steps grew louder, more urgent, and Nofri-it could feel the tension rising in his muscles, every fiber of his being alert. He could already see it—Azech-I, standing tall and unyielding, his eyes burning with that dangerous gleam, his presence swallowing everything in its wake. Nofri-it could already taste the bitterness of defeat if he were caught now.
Senek led the way, ducking into narrow passages, his feet barely making a sound on the polished stone floors. Nofri-it followed as swiftly as he could, the silence around them suffocating. His pulse raced with each turn, his mind constantly shifting between the possibility of escape and the looming certainty of capture.
But just as they reached the outer gates, a loud, mocking laugh echoed through the hall. It froze Nofri-it in his tracks.
"Azech-I…"
Senek's voice cracked as he looked back over his shoulder, his face drained of all color.
There, in the dim torchlight of the hallway, stood the Pharaoh. Azech-I leaned against the stone archway with an arrogant smirk playing at the corner of his lips. His dark eyes gleamed with amusement as he surveyed the two of them.
"I must say, I'm impressed, Nofri-it," Azech-I purred, his voice low and dangerous. "You almost managed to escape my clutches. Almost."
Nofri-it's stomach twisted, and he felt the cold grip of dread close around his heart. The Pharaoh knew. He had known all along.
"Did you really think you could run from me?" Azech-I continued, his voice darkening, his amusement fading into something far more menacing. "Did you really think I wouldn't see through this little plan of yours?"
Nofri-it said nothing, his gaze locked on Azech-I. There was no use in lying, no use in begging. The Pharaoh had always been several steps ahead of him, always had him cornered, whether in the grand court or in the dark recesses of his own mind.
Senek, trembling, stepped back, his eyes flicking between Azech-I and Nofri-it. "Please, don't hurt him. He didn't mean—"
"Silence," Azech-I snapped, his voice a whip crack that silenced Senek's pleas immediately. "You've done enough, boy."
Senek flinched, his head bowing low in submission. But Nofri-it didn't take his eyes off the Pharaoh. He could feel the weight of Azech-I's gaze on him, a heavy pressure that threatened to crush him.
Azech-I stepped closer, each movement graceful yet laced with an ominous intent. "I've given you time, Nofri-it. Time to feel what it's like to be free, to have some illusion of control. But that's over now. You will never escape me. Not again."
Nofri-it's breath hitched, but he held his ground. "You think you've won, Azech-I, but you've only proven that you are a coward. You only take pleasure in torturing the weak, in forcing them to bow before you."
Azech-I's eyes darkened, his lips curling into a dangerous smile. "You're in no position to lecture me." His voice dropped to a low, possessive murmur. "You're mine, Nofri-it. Don't forget that."
The words stung like a whip, searing across his skin. Nofri-it's body tensed, the truth of Azech-I's control—his complete dominance over him—striking with brutal clarity. There was no escaping this. No freedom. Only the endless, suffocating grip of the Pharaoh's power.
Azech-I reached out, his fingers brushing the side of Nofri-it's face, his touch cold, deliberate. "I'll show you just how much you belong to me. I'll remind you what happens when you try to run from me."
Senek, watching helplessly, took a step forward, but Nofri-it stopped him with a glance. He could feel the heat of Azech-I's gaze searing through him, could feel his fingers digging into his skin, marking him. And as much as he hated it, as much as he loathed the Pharaoh's touch, there was no denying that his body betrayed him.
Azech-I's presence was intoxicating. He had always known how to make Nofri-it's blood burn, how to make him ache with desire and fury all at once. Even in this moment of torment, when his body screamed for escape, he couldn't help the way his heart raced, the way his breath came in ragged gasps.
"I will break you," Azech-I whispered, his lips close to Nofri-it's ear. "I will make you see that there is no way out. You are mine, Nofri-it. And you will always be mine."
Nofri-it's chest tightened, his resolve warring with the feelings Azech-I's presence stirred within him. He had sworn vengeance on this man, sworn to never submit again. But in the face of Azech-I's cold, cruel hold on him, everything he had believed was beginning to crumble.
As the Pharaoh's fingers tightened around his wrist, pulling him forward, Nofri-it knew this was far from over. The game had just begun.
