Chapter 930: Two For One
Taking notice of this, Merno went ahead and casted several spells at once, one was a squall of wind aiming to disturb the undead's charge, but the rest were not aimed at the undead at all, instead, targeting the spikes and ribs of bones protruding from all around, the livings had held back from casting spells at the formation to destroy it as without knowing where Loimos was hiding, it just seemed like a good way for them to be targeted right as they finished casting a spell, but since the skeleton was within view right now, the blind mage did not hesitate and erased any chances for the undead to fall back and hide from them again.
Naturally, Loimos did not seem to care in the least about that, with his broken arm wildly being flung around with his movements, he moved like a feral creature, weaving and dodging the direct attacks from the group of four, rolling to the side and leaping over earthen and crystal spells, making most unconventional movements with the greatest of ease.
The other livings also bombarded him with spells of mana and holy energy, but although not immense, the distance that separated them from Loimos, allowing for the skeleton to see said spells coming, especially since he could tell when they were going to cast one.
Arriving just before the champion of earth, Loimos ducked beneath a swing of the heavy mace, lowering himself down to the ground with a sudden spread of his legs, before spinning around and sweeping at Filiusorci's left foot, making him falter and slightly lower himself, the undead using that instant to spring back up, slamming into the living's shin from below with his skull, essentially performing an headbutt-uppercut.
The elemental champion tasted blood on his tongue as the blow caused him to bite into is own cheek, soon coming face to face with Loimos at a most uncomfortable closeness, there was an undeniable hint of panic and fear on his scarred visage, the champion of earth had left the first battle with the undead with mere scars, and a bit of left ear missing.
Filiusorci did not feel confident that he would get away intact this time…
Whilst still reeling from the first blow, Loimos reeled his skull back, as he wound up his next attack, he simultaneously, dodge several spells, they were more precise to avoid hitting Filiusorci as well, which also enabled Loimos to dodge those much more easily than when they targeted him with only open area next to him.
The real problem here was Menhirel, Msir was too injured to hope to do anything to the skeleton in a swift instant, and Dasato was too focused on spellcasting at the moment, trying to ensnare his foot with crystal growths, so it was the shieldbearer who was marching toward him with the intent of getting the corpse away from the earthen champion.
So Loimos had to be quick, reeling his skull back, he once again swung it like a battleaxe, his teeth sinking into the side of Filiusorci's face, tearing flesh and skin off, grinding against the living's own skull, with his right hand, Loimos took hold of mace's handle, easily managing to wrench it out of the champion's hold before kicking the man's into Menhirel.
The shieldswoman instinctively caught Filiusorci, as the man was not exactly in a good state right now, blood pouring from his face as one could see the skull supposed to be hidden beneath a layer of skin and flesh.
As she took in that sight, Loimos was already acting, swinging the mace at her head, a mass of crystals exploded from the ground behind him, but it was not enough, the weapon made impact, sending the talented shield user's brain matter all over the place as Loimos just let go of the weapon as it happened, ignoring the crystals spikes being driven through his back, lunging at the champion of earth, shoving his bony fingers right through his throat and ripping it into shreds.
Grabbing the man, he drained him and threw his body at Msir and Dasato before draining Menhirel next, the absorption of two livings in quick succession caused a few of the cracks on his skull to grow smaller, but overall, the damage done to his body was mostly unchanged, but the livings clearly felt their senses for dangers flare up intensely.
Despite her weakened state, Msir manifested a mana sword and launched it at the undead, only for Loimos to erupt with a purple glow, blinding them all, and once again, they lost access to their magic.
Using the blinding light technique he had learned from Gravelord Vwoldtnir was a rather costly move, especially when he made it so it affected energy in such a way, and even then, this one was weaker than the previous one, they would recover their energy circulation far quicker, though, the livings were not quite aware of that.
All that mattered was that spells were off-limits for the living's right now- So Loimos pounced forward, Msir might have put up a good fight before, but with one hand missing, and pale from blood loss, the skeleton was able to push her to the ground and stomp down on her jaw and neck, plastering them both against the ground before draining her.
As for Dasato, she was less of a competent fighter when deprived of the usage of mana.
But being unharmed, she was still able to struggle, Defoim'nocle was already rushing toward him, whilst Alosfit and Forven remained grounded in place, Marl having to hold them in place lest they stood up and aggravated their own wounds even further.
It was a shame that Loimos could not currently imitate much of Gravelord Multaemanus, she was able to feed on despair, and if Loimos could do that right now, he would greatly accelerate his recovery, but alas, that was no available, otherwise, the despair from the champion of wind, who could only watch as the one he loved with all of his hearts was being repeatedly struck in the head, until Loimos punched down at her neck, separating the head from the body entirely.
Unlike when he drained the previous three, Loimos seemed to more clearly recover than before when he drained Dasato, the scorching marks upon his bones began to fade away, allowing bits of rot to regrow, one could even hear his left arm slowly beginning to mend itself.
The reason was simple, without her knowledge, Dasato had been carrying another living for Loimos to drain, and the life force from that was undeniably pure and vibrant…
