Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 928: The Rush

By all means of logic, even if Loimos had recovered strength from slaying Molc just now, it was rather obvious that he was still in a worse state that he had been before being struck by the combined spell from the livings, his armour had been breached, one of his arms had become a nearly useless mess, his body as a whole had suffered tremendous damage… Yet, it was undeniable that the livings felt tenser than ever.

But they did not break under the pressure, the elemental champions all unleashed powerful spells in unison- Fire, water, wind, earth, crystal, snow and sword, each of them soared through the air, targeting the extensively damaged undead, who was running toward them like maddened man, his left arm flinging loosely with each of his movements, sockets alight with the purple glow, which was now peering through deep cracks all over his skull.

With calculated movements, Loimos zig zagged toward them, evading the swords that were trying to home in on him, weaving past raging squalls of wind, seemingly predicting where pillars of flames would erupt, proactively moving out of the way before they could engulf him.

Golems crafted from earth and crystals emerged from beneath the ground, trying to get a hold of his legs, to stop him in his momentum by any means necessary, but it was ineffective, even in this state, he dodged every attempt made by the mana constructs.

Snow and water instead spread across the ground into a wide area separating the livings from the undead, but Loimos seemed determined to get to them via straight line, using the stolen sword, stabbing it into the ground, using the blade to propel himself through the air, Merno reacted quickly, and deployed a barrier in between the group and Loimos, the undead landing directly upon it, but the barrier was slightly angled, allowing the skeleton to ran up against it and jump into the midst the livings.

He directed his attention toward the two wounded elemental champions, most certainly intending to slay these easy targets to replenish his strength, another flying sword of mana whistled right past his skull, and blade of wind following quickly being, which he had to block using the sword, pushing him back, behind the undead, Menhirel was already positioned, bringing both fists down in unison, only to shatter earth instead of bones, he weaved around her, using the living as a meat shield to force the spellcasters to momentarily stop they assault.

The shieldbearer feigned a right hook that would have taken advantage of Loimos's broken arm, and as the skeleton seemingly fell for it, bringing the sword to shield his left side- She instead went for a left hook, the hit connected in an unfavourable manner for the living, as Loimos reeled his head back, and swung his skull down at her fist like a battleaxe, without a lower jaw, it was the only way for him to make good use of his teeth.

The blow shattered the stone prosthesis that had replaced the limb that he had severed in the past, Menhirel was momentarily thrown off balance, a problem the undead barely knew, he followed up by kneeing her in the stomach, and she leaned forward, headbutted her squarely in the center of the face.

Next, the sword was going to leave a deep gash into her body- The shieldswoman could only let herself fall onto her back to avoid blow, also giving the spellcasters the line of sight needed to cast properly spells at the undead.

He barely avoided a compressed water bullet fired by Merno directly at his skull, only to get slashed across the chest by Forven, have his already broken arm put through an inferno, for crystals to manage to ensnare his right foot, and as he barely managed to avoid several spikes of earth by contorting his body, a stray mana sword, managed to strike his skull, blasting off a portion of the upper-right portion of it, exposing the inside of it, causing the purple glow to peer out into the open at a far greater rate than before.

Tendrils of water and snow came to try and further restrain him in place, but the undead, broke out of the earthen spikes surrounding him, slashing one with his sword, and swiftly kicking it straight at the champion of snow, who would have been slain on the spot if not for Filiusorci dispelling his spell at the last possible moment, causing the earthen spikes to dispel into mana.

Rather than focus on Menhirel any further, Loimos had stomped down, and right after kicking the broken piece of spike, he threw the stolen sword straight through the air, aimed precisely at Marl, who was stabilising the wounds of Forven and Alosfit in the back, the cleric could not quite defend himself at the moment, but even as he saw the sword soaring directly for him, he did not budge, for indeed, his allies had his back, Dasato manifested a blade from crystals and knocked the blade out of the air before it could harm anyone.

But in the small instant during which everyone poured focus into the sword, Loimos had been rushing right at them as well.

Loimos landed a devastating kick straight into Msir's chest, forcing the air out of lungs, right before repositioning himself with kicking once more, this time up at one of her hands, causing one of her swords to fly out to be grabbed by him, in another swift motion, as several spells were already coming for him, he swung at her other hand, severing it entirely.

He flicked the blood from that slash into Filiusorci's face, who was approaching with his face, blinding him, before throwing the sword toward Alosfit, once again forcing the livings to look out for their ally whilst he lunged to grab the severed limb that was still holding the other sword, absorbing everything he could for that hand before throwing it away and grasping the weapon.

Forven was able to knock the sword aimed for the champion of fire out of the air, but he had not been the only one to try and do that, in the meantime, the champion of earth was stepping backward with blood in his eyes, using mana to try and remove it, whilst the champion of sword was still unable to do anything, having been kicked in the chest and lost a limb in quick succession.

The skeleton's target was Neige, the champion of snow managed to manifest a staff of hardened snow in the spur of the moment, diverting the blade that would have otherwise been through her guts right now.

A head-on confrontation with the undead was not to her advantage, however.
