Chapter 901: The Wind
Frankly, it was clear that Loimos's senses had taken quite the beating from being in this realm and infiltrating the life barrier, but arguably, his senses were still top notch, and as the pure undead, his reaction speed was instantaneous, so when his fall was halted by another force, he was able to know instantly who was responsible and how they had done it, it was just impressive that they had managed to get so close without being noticed, and also, how their binding trick managed to hold for a few moments longer.
But the undead did not resume his attack once bindings came undone, before that happened, he was blasted away by a powerful gust of wind, potent enough to leave a cut into his chest.
The wings transformed back into his regular arms, Milo fell to the ground, his face smashed in and skull shattered, despite it all, Loimos had still been able to inject Loimosfire into his brain alongside some dark ice, so although the result was not as gruesome as initially expected, the golden boy was currently out of commission, how long that would last, no one would really know, but Loimos could tell that his life force was not dwindling, so clearly, for the one in possession of the gold, such damage was not considered lethal.
"Keep away from my man"
Naturally, the caster was Helena, to stop the undead from splattering her husband's head all over the soil, she had swiftly seized control of the stray mana flowing along the air, and casted a spell through them, namely, she had increased the density of the air so greatly, that even the pure undead was stopped right in his tracks.
Perhaps a revaluation was to be brought in order, such a stunt was something even the Volcano Witch would find difficult to pull off in the heat of the moment, it would have been much more typical for the mage to cast a spell she was familiar with in reaction, but she had actually assessed the situation and come up with the correct solution, even though the stakes were incredibly high, as surely, from her perspective, there was no way Milo would survive being struck head-on like this.
Loimos stomped the ground, and a line of bone spikes emerged, heading directly for Milo, to which Helena responded by lifting him off the ground before they could pierce through him, simultaneously casting a blade of wind at the undead, but the spell was just slapped aside.
Three arrows shot out from the foliage, each of them exploded into orbs of dark red fire before even hitting the undead.
'He was able to figure out the exact distance my senses extend to' the undead did not assume that Toby had gotten lucky and precisely decided to take his shots from that precise distance, it seemed like had a means to know where to stay at for the undead to be none the wiser to his presence.
Furthermore, although it dealt no damage, the flames of those three arrows were not typical fire, it had actually been hellfire that had been stocked within them, which was surprising, as there was no way anyone could have crafted them in this realm, so it only confirmed what Loimos though, Toby sourced his special arrows from his system.
The undead was well aware that things like special systems were incredibly rare, and that they were in fact extensions of the main system, knowing just how important of a figure the system actually was, it did not seem unlikely that Toby might have access to things that could actually be a problem…
Two more arrows flew out, but Loimos just swung his palm at the air, causing them to be thrown off course and detonate nowhere close to him.
"Toby! Take care of Milo for me" Helena used her wind mana to carry Milo further into the distance, blocking the direct path toward him using her own body, glaring at the undead.
Manifesting a ball of black flames, Loimos fired it off in the direction of seemingly no one, as its trajectory would definitely not align with either of three livings currently present near him, but Helena had to turn her attention to it anyways, for she instantly understood what he was after.
Indeed, if Milo and Helena were both here- Then who would be around to stop a fire spell from crashing into their house and burning everyone inside to death?
Without delay, the moment Helena pulled some attention toward the fireball, Loimos pushed off the ground, blasting several meters of earth away as he launched himself directly at the unconscious Milo, blasting right through the barrier Helena formed in haste, rather than fire or ice, Loimos casted a bolt of black lightning instead toward the passed out living, but despite the natural speed of the lightning, it missed its target as an arrow was stabbed into Milo's shoulder and instantly, he just vanished out of thin air, his life force reappearing a distance away.
Unfortunately for Toby, although he was remaining out of range of the undead's range, Milo could not do the same as Loimos had already marked him and could track the golden boy down across the entire realm if necessary.
But once again, the skeleton could not move forward as the air's density increased and this time, Helena wasn't just trying to stop him, she was trying to crush him into the past by closing the dense winds in on him.
"If you want to get to him… You'll have to get through me first!" changing the nature of the spell she was casting, Loimos was thrown to the side, away from Milo as the mage continued to attack, weaving spells after spells, using outer manipulation to manifest them all around the undead.
Countless blades of wind were hurled toward Loimos, and each of them were dispelled by being struck his arms and legs, not a single one escaped his notice, but still, it did not escape him that each managed to leave a small dent in his rot-woven clothes and armour.
These shared nearly the exact same defences and resistances as his very own bones, only slightly inferior as his physical body served as a foundation for all the enhancement upon his person, whilst his rot manifestation only had the rot as a base.
Still, even a blind person would know that Helena was not yet going all out, she had used so little mana so far, apart from increasing air density to hold the pure undead in place, the rest of her spells together hadn't even consumed a fraction of a single percent of her mana pool.
As it stood, Loimos really couldn't just ignore her and go for Milo.
Helena made sure that Toby was taking Milo further away before channeling her mana into deadlier spells.
The wind howled.
