Chapter 861: Ramblings Of An Immortal
"By the way, this place we are in right now, it was created by that white haired guy, you know, the prophet?"
"Quideos Audit?"
"Yes! That one, I don't know where he is right now, but he seemed very pressed to have us meet here today, his powers are absolute madness, I must say, Loimos and I may be monsters, but even my rotten friend, who is very apt at pulling bullshit out of his nonexistent bumhole, does pull anything remotely as ridiculous as this Audit character, this man managed to get a hold of me through my own memories, which he saw in one of his visions, how does that even work?" Thanatok ranted and completely sidelined the subject he had himself brought up, before he had even begun to talk about it.
Milo had remembered the pure living as a rather strange fellow, one not fond of conversing with others, who had only wanted to have a big showdown with Loimos, in his memories, The First Death Hunter had been nothing more than a battle maniac seeking a worthy adversary… But now? He was just rambling on and on and being so awfully friendly, that it was off putting.
Was that what happened to an undefeated man after being slain twice by the same adversary? Or had he always been like that secretly?
"Hum… Could we-?" Milo wanted to hear what he had to say, but the ramblings had already started.
"I must say, Milo, that was a pretty nice fight you had there, nothing too fancy, just pure martial combat, that Frenand guy is rather funny too, maybe I should fight him the next time I somehow come back instead of Loimos, I swear, Loimos is the worst person to have a conversation with! He literally only engages if it benefits him to win the fight, bastard probably sets up conditions and battle arts like : If I speak with this idiot, increase the strength of my next blow, blablabla!"
Ynigós sighed and shook his head.
"You need to get a better grasp of the capabilities of your golden mana if you want to have a chance, as it stands, it is your best bet to attain victory, right now, it's like you are wielding a mythical sword, but instead of swinging to properly, all you do with it is cut some steaks and sometime unscrew the pommel to use as a projectile"
"Honestly, it hurts to watch, you have the mean to gain the upper hand against him, I mean, he didn't even go all out against you, that's just embarrassing, boy"
Milo frowned.
"But anyways, I think I understand what Audit wants me to tell you, would be more obvious if he just showed up and said it clearly though" he raised his voice at the surroundings during that last part, but the prophet did pop out of thin air.
The pure living sighed, crossing his arms before sitting down onto the grass.
"Let me tell you a little story"
"As I said before, after my second loss against Loimos, I decided to go and explore the cosmos, as an immortalised one and the pure living, I can do many things with basically no real restriction, so what do I do? Naturally, I look for God!"
"God?"
"Indeed, the truest deity that governs the cosmos and created all of the worlds! The one that stands above all other gods, I was rather curious if such a being even existed, or if everything just sort of worked on its own, or if perhaps it was more like a council of supreme beings, you know?" he explained with a smile.
"Well, first of all, be careful when floating through the cosmos, that place is simultaneously empty and completely wild, sometimes, whole worlds just pop out of thin air, or random events just occur without reason… But most importantly, the denizens are to be looked out for"
Milo listened attentively, but he honestly had no idea what Thanatok was talking about, or where he was going with this to begin with, he just sat down and looked at the pure living.
"Perhaps you have heard of beings of eldritch nature? Maybe you have even encountered some, well, let me tell you, the eldritch that dwells down here, and the eldritch that dwells in the cosmos are completely different.
"There are beasts and creatures, up there of course, and you need to be careful as they seemingly exist on a plane of existence that allows them to bypass every rule, or so I think, I was gulped down a few times, but thankfully, I can just reform after that… The most interesting are the eldritch deities, they don't possess divine energy like our gods here, but it is without a doubt that they are godly, unlike the beasts and monsters, they are perfectly sapient and can speak, well, speaking to them makes my brain bleed and eyes explode, which is impressive because I don't really have a physical body"
"But anyways, after they turn off whatever causes that to happen, they are actually quite the agreeable fellows, some are… A bit out there, but as long as you are polite, it all goes well- In any case, plenty of them claims to be offsprings of The Father, and that was when I asked about who this was that I finally got my answer, there is indeed an all-mighty divinity ruling over everything!"
"That's… That's quite the discovery" Milo wasn't sure what to make of this information, but it certainly sounded significant.
"Actually, boy, when I was alive on this world, there were theories concerning such a being already, and even about the cosmos, in hindsight, it seems like they weren't theories, but just facts that had been disguised as theories as they exact for the most part"
"One thing they got wrong however, is that they claimed that The Father created worlds and maintained the fabric of reality or whatever, whilst he slumbered eternally, so like, everything was just the manifestation of his dream and once he woke up, it would all vanish"
"When I saw him- Or her actually, it perhaps? They? It's hard to say, but anyways, he wasn't sleeping at all when I found him… So anyways, after I spoke with God, I ran into another eldritch deity"
'Is he really just going to mention that in passing like it's no big deal?' Milo was starting to wonder if Thanatok Ynigós had not gone insane, or if he just really wanted to speak about what he knew with someone.
"Listen carefully, Milo… That eldritch deity, he allowed me to learn more about Loimos- About what he is"
