Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 236: Graceless Wings

Inside of the ruined tower, the empty shell of himself Loimos had left behind was simply seated on the ground, back resting against the wall.

"One, that is definitely weird" Three said, her green-bladed great katana resting on her shoulder as she looked down on the vampire, who was sitting next to the inert shell, having flung one of Loimos's arm over her shoulder and currently cuddling with the armoured corpse.

"Huh… You are supposed to knock before entering…" the vampire feinted a cough, not moving from the compromising position however, it was already too late anyways.

"I know you are an undead too, but that is seriously unhinged, he smells of rancid meat and shit but a hundred times worse, the local vultures have moved away, I know your sense of smell works perfectly fine, no matter how much you like rot, this can't not be terrible" the swordswoman had one hand over her nose and mouth, which was not very effective.

The vampire thought for a second.

"Nah, I like it, and I would like to remark that you make love to your sword, so-"

"It's maintenance, just maintenance! Oh gods… Why is it getting worse?" she felt like throwing up.

One finally slithered out of her lovely embrace, standing up and dusting herself before pointing at a table, a fairly detailed map spread out on its surface.

"I finally managed to get someone that is somewhat close to the Tamarisian royal court, you see? It's just a little servant but using this guy's ears, I managed to catch something that is rather important, It seems like they are still trying to eradicate all signs of the defilers and puppeteers, though, I have heard that they weren't as oblivious as we would have liked- Anyways!"

She slapped her hands together, a smile that was best described as that of a carpet seller flaunting the benefits of their goods to a species without feet.

"They are scouring the caves and old ruins all over the country, both for the objective I mentioned but also to try and confirm some of their other suspicions, there might actually some of our people in this places, so using some of my loyal servants, I have been making suspicious movements in separate locations, one of which is the place were our good friend the puppet that leads puppeteers resides, once they realise this, they'll naturally focus on this area first…"

She rubbed her hands, walking up to three and trying to put a hand on her shoulder, which was denied due to her touchy attitude with the worst smelling corpse in existence.

"...One problem however!" she quickly went back on track "Here, there are some old ruins and my in-depth investigations made me believe that there might be an undead residing here, in hiding and I wouldn't want them to find them! I need someone that is not an undead to check it out"
Your journey continues at empire

"Ah, now I see, but how am I supposed to convince your undead fellow to listen to me or anything? If they are anything like your love interest, they'll just attack, won't they?" Three raised her eyebrows, but her vampire friend had an answer to everything.

"First of all, Loimos is very friendly, he has not stabbed you yet, right? Right, that is simple, show them this and then give them that" she handed over a small piece of fabric, which consisted of various emblems and insignias stitched together, most represented some sort of circles, the whole thing reassembled a night sky, with moons and stars.

"Those are the symbols representing the gravelords, do not lose it! That will definitely get them thinking, but also throw them this amulet, I'll handle the talking" she stepped away, bumping straight into someone.

Looking up, she jumped back a bit, like a cat being sprayed with water.

"Well, would you look at that, your prince charming has woken up"

"I wasn't expecting you so soon, Loimos! Did something happen in Millipolo? Is Two alright?"

"Just met someone unexpected, all went well, Two is being escorted by the suit of armour" he explained, a pair of putrid wings sprouting from his back, covered in gooey blood and cracking with maddening crunches.

"There is still no lead on the last two gravelords, I presume?" he asked a question, sounding like he was stating a fact.

One shook her head, Multaemanus and Körpersucher were still as elusive as ever, it should come to no doubt that they had probably noticed that something was going on by now, but still no signs of them were to be found anywhere.

In that case, Loimos would have to wander around, somewhat aimlessly.

"Surely, they are already on their ways, from what I understood from Unacunerra, they have no designated dwellings, but they should still be on the continent"

Loimos did not respond to this and instead pulled out three dark crystals from one of his pockets, sliding one toward Three.

"This is…?"

"Tokens of appreciation, One believe in you, each of those crystals can go to each of the living members of Alizé" he began walking away, stepping out of the tower and into sunlight, it seemed like the sun had switched place with another of its contemporaries, instead of the classic round shape, there were dozens of small suns arranged into a particular disposition, together, they looked just like the regular solar body, Loimos could easily make it out because he had no eyes that could be blinded, the sunlight could not deceive him.

"Huh, I don't want to sound ungrateful, Loimos, but what are those crystals exactly?" the swordswoman asked, having not a clue what she was looking at, even when holding it, she could gleam nothing of its true nature.

"It is a gift given to those who have the potential, I was not the one to discern it within you, but I trust in One's judgement" he was awfully cryptic, spreading his rotten wings.

"A part giant woman holding onto one of those should arrive here soon enough, look over her, make sure she does not wander off" he added before suddenly pushing off the ground, flying away, spreading black feathers and bile as he rose up until disappearing into the clouds.

Walking out from the shade of the ruined tower, Four with her spider legs all out, bits of webs all over the back, it seemed like she had erected a web somewhere behind there.

"Sounds like you have competition One, also, I heard of free stuff? Where? Also, since when does this guy fly? He looks like a scoliosis with wings, ahah"
