Chapter 222: Into The Night
"Arts, stats, energies, all of those are fine and all, but pure might and sheer instinct can often trump them, my beast blood has an additional property, it seems like you could do something similar when creating something from your rot, but with my blood to stimulate it, you should be able of calling upon the strengths of those that you have decayed…"
The Night Flier decided to demonstrate what he meant by walking up to his brother and slapping him square in the face, resulting in a loud ting of iron sounding throughout the ruin.
"Vespertillo, you do this every time"
"As you can see, not very efficient, my dear brother has higher physical potency than me thanks to all his addons, if I want to demonstrate that I am the oldest twin by two whole seconds, I must channel the power of my blood, allowing me to add the full force of all that I have turned into vampires to my next blow, be they still around or not" he ignored the words of his brother as he kept on explaining.
Ahool and a few other beasts that were most certainly of greater importance than the rest that endlessly wandered the empty halls of the underground, they watched with attention a scene that occurred everything either of the two gravelords managed to turn an actual person into a vampire of their blood, it did not lose its appeal even after countless years.
"Of course, I am turned a lot of beasts, if I were to do that only with striking force, my hand would just explode on contact, one must learn the various strengths that can be taken, and learning to use multiple at once is the biggest challenge my followers have to learn, it doesn't even have to be physical, need to have a more robust soul?
Use the strength of creatures with strong souls, that's a bit technical to do but you seem to have facilities in those sorts of things" he referred to Loimos's one hundred percent undeath, even with concepts that should know neither life nor death.
After all a soul always remained a soul, it was no different when belonging to a living and when it finally departed from their lifeless body, there were some exceptions of course, but the skeleton had all of them, at once.
"The same concept is true for me as well, only that it only applies to that which is neither alive or dead, like metals, I don't call over the strength of the beings that I turned, I just consume the materials, allowing me to fuse with them and make them part of my body, so I can regenerate my iron jaw and even goggles, they are integral to my beings, there is no true distinction between flesh and otherwise, when I consume something new, it simply allows me to grow stronger naturally" Atsalinopalo replied, smacking his brother on the back of the head.
All in all, while the younger twin was stronger at a base, the oldest's blood ability allowed him to go far beyond and in many ways, although the sort of modifications Atsalinopalo had done to his body went further than it appeared on the surface.
Vespertillo's blood allowed him to do something similar to Nosferatu's stack, although it was less sophisticated and focused on multiplying raw might, but by putting them together, the results could be outstanding.
Of course, the capabilities of their blood was not limited to this, they were both capable of creating minions on the fly, the twins still were mostly focused on as force gatherers, their strength was pristine and they were the undisputed masters of fast and intricate aerial combat, but the real boon to having them as allies was their ability to have much more servants than any other vampire lord, and servants much more powerful than any of the countless necromancers of the undead legion could create on the fly.
And they wholeheartedly played into this role, Vespertillo had gathered thousands upon thousands of beasts of all sorts, even come up with a way to use death-powered golems by making thralls out of the plants here, the blood stained chambers were not for show too, evolutions were a rare concept, but with his capability of even bringing a half-dead creature into a vampire, he had learned to force such events at the moment of the turning.
Not simply injecting his blood into anything that came by, but trying to squeeze the maximum worth out of every single beast and monster, no matter how insignificant.
As for Atsalinopalo, his blood had less targets on this continent, and turning things outside of his specialty was unlikely, but he had learned to work past this limitation, by creating his own golems and forcing spirits to manifest, building sentient creations and such was a difficult affair, but The Shattered had learned this fine craft.
The twin gravelords bounced off one another very well, in fact, they were not that different in their personalities, the only thing that had prevented them from being carbon copies was the difference in their blood, leading to a contrast in the way they went about to deal with things.
"Of course, you can get very specific with what you chose to enhance, me and Vwoldtnir would do something we liked to call a concert with an extravagant light show-"
"Do not yell in here, not everyone can regrow their head!" Atsalinopalo covered his bat ears.
"No worries, I am not so brash, it is night right now, let's get up here for live demonstrations" Vespertillo pointed up at the circular hole, the obstructions slithering out of the way, clearing itself of roots and branches, giving sight straight into the night above. Grabbing Loimos by the head, he extended his wings, a single flap enough to bring them just below the first line of clouds, the travel there strangely free of wings that should have torn the skeleton apart.
"I am not called The Night Flier for nothing, can you manifest wings to fly, or perhaps, glide around?" Vespertillo remained in place despite his wings not moving a centimeter, using the same trick as Nesferatu did to seemingly float in place, maintaining himself airborne by manipulating the blood in his body.
Loimos had attempted to take flight on multiple occasions in the past, the possibility of aerial movements was one that opened many ways, but it had never ended with anything but an effusion of gore.
"Well then, it is time to learn, fly Loimos, fly!"
He just dropped the skeleton.
This was certain to be a poor optics for his bones.
