Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 1020: Pink Mist

Merely within a dozen of minutes, the mansion came under full control of the trio, and blinded by his belief of Loimos's divinity, Val-Dalek followed the instructions he was given without question, gathering all of the people that were a direct part of the resistance and telling everyone who could hear it that the short-lived reign of tyranny had come an end.

The Wasmaster was thus put in charge temporarily as the trio of undeads stepped out of manor and beheld the bizarre landscape of this realm, everything was a shade of white here, the grass, the trees and the rocks all contained great amounts of salt, a natural resource that was considered to have a rather high value throughout history, it was more than just something you could add to a meal, but also a way to conserve food longer.

The Undead Empire and other continental superpowers were incredibly advanced and had access to plenty of means to do whatever it was that they had in mind, so salt was of much smaller value to them, but it could still be use to trade with smaller civilisations, after all, few could actually boast about having enough food to feed their populations…

Of course, the Empire had an advantage in that regard, since undeads did not need to eat or drink at all, even the vampires and certain ghouls who consumed blood or flesh could function very well without it.

The salt of this realm was not exactly your typical salt however, it could probably be used in a variety of ways, and besides, the exact type of salt seemed to differ based on what it was inside of, as such, tree salt and beast salt were actually very different from one another.

This realm was just asking to be industrialised, the potential was enormous, even without counting everything else…

"Ooh… I think I drank too much, I'll need some time to process all that power" One had also discovered that the blood of the people here was incredibly nourishing for vampires, even surpassing the blood that was produced with the intent of being the best there was, in the Empire, blood was created en masse to suit the specific vampire types, allowing for a steady source of it all without having to rely on livings.

But here, the livings had blood that was a notch above even the finest product of undead ingeniosity, which was highly impressive, although the Empire always integrated and made use of anything new that was discovered, it was extremely rare nowadays for a resource or material of any kind to actually be better than what they possessed.

The Empire made use of things that had been engineered and experimented with, which combined the best traits of countless things at once, eliminated their downsides, and enhanced the whole thing to another level.

It was like using a legendary material, and then finding a piece of iron somewhere else that somehow put the legend to shame- Adding such a thing to composition would be certain to push everything to a higher plane in a single go.

One, as skilled as she may be, was still a rather mundane vampire in term of sheer power, so the overconsumption of the salty blood had left her feeling like a mage who had accidentally absorbed too much mana and made their reserves overflow, right now, her body was processing the new substance, converting it all into vampiric blood of a higher grade.

Drinking blood was indeed the main way in which vampires tended to increase their raw strength and potential, they could also bathe in blood for the same effect- But drinking was definitely their forte as the fangs they were known for were basically specialised, in-built straws that allowed them drain a living dry in just a few moments once a bite was inflicted.

Loimos made no mention of it, but he had spotted several realms that had not yet been documented, and were this, free for him to take care of- But he had settled on this simply because compared to the rest, he had noticed that the blood in here was somewhat special, and since he had a vampire in tow, it only made sense to go for this one first.

Furthermore, One had some potential… She was oddly harsh on herself, always putting herself below everyone else, this was mostly due to the fact that she was a sun walking vampire, sharing in the blood of traitor, and had not even been turned by the blood of the treacherous lord in person, meaning that in terms of vampiric blood, she was rather weak as too far detached from the origin of said blood, that was unlike the current vampires, even those who were once in the position as her have since long been granted blood from their lord, so apart from sun walking vampires, all vampires that followed a lord were as powerful as they could be.

The only restraints on their strength was themselves and their diligence.

And since Sunwalker had never even awakened the powers of his vampiric blood, the vampires of his kind had basically nothing special apart from being able to walk under the sun and enjoying the full boons of the light.

It was impressive, but it did not translate that well into battle power.

One beat herself up over that fact, but Loimos, who saw the bigger picture, was able to tell that she really shouldn't be so harsh on herself, the technique she could use to transform part of, or her entire body into pink mist was something that she had come up with on her own, and was a trick not at all that easy to master, for example.

In fact, she was amongst the few capable of using it at all.

But what was really telling was something else.

Loimos had once asked the vampire lords if they could perform that mist trick, and naturally, in their quality was vampire lords, even if none of them had ever used such a technique, they were able to do it without problem, and the mist would always be of a different colour.

Nosferatu's was foul and greenish.

Dracula's was a bright, fiery red.

Vespertillo's was brownish and wild.

Atsalinopalo's was silver and almost stiff in its motions.

Loimos had also paid a visit to the three vampirelings Nosferatu was trying to make into minor lords, but those three were still too inexperienced to perform the technique on a whim.

In any case, Loimos had studied the question, and after getting Sari to perform it as well, the Moon-Lit Knightess who worked as a lieutenant in his vanguard was a lordless vampire, meaning that was a vampiress who had been born out of the soil naturally and had decided not to take in any lord blood.

Unsurprisingly, her mist turned out red.

The fact that One's was pink was a clear indication of her unique vampiric blood, as when he checked in with another sun walking vampire, the mist had turned out yellow…

Who knew, maybe feeding her some blood would help in the awakening.
